I'm terrified of chip kelly getting the USC job. If he does we better savor this years win because he may dominate us like Carroll did.

Chip usually fields a middling to poor defense. We recruit well on defense and we will always be in those games, IMO. His Oregon teams couldn't get past rugged smash mouth teams like Stanford and always seemed to drop one every season that they shouldn't. Carol always had a complete team -- offense and defense. ... Both performing at a very high level.

He asked for full disclosure on what was going on re NCAA investigations and Auburn refused, so he said he wasn't interested in the job without knowing what he might be getting himself into.

Smart man. Franchione left Bama claimning they had withheld information on their NCAA issues.

Yes but you know where that kinda coach will fit in? The seat that opens after BK is hired by the Giants. Paging GK...

I'd hate to lose Kelly, but if he does bolt for the NFL, I hope Strong is the first person Swarbrick calls.

I don't mean to be rude, but who would you like to see Jack target?

Chip Kelly hahaha

Nah but I wouldn't mind Strong, you guys are crazy with you expectations. Although his recruiting is inexcusably bad. No reason Texas should be ranked ~50 right now. They were 12 last year which is passable but about 20 the year before. What makes it worse is that AM has been flirting with top 5 classes every year now.

Ah... nice story BGIF. But not entirely true. Franchione took the Bama job knowing full well what he was getting in to. He also begged the 40+ juniors and seniors who could transfer to stay committed to him and the school. Shortly after, his commitment wasn't the same as his players and he bolts for the big pay day at A&M. No big deal to me... happens a lot in CFB with a lot of coaches who say they are committed and then exit stage right.

As far as Kirby, I have said it time and again. I think he falls in that category of really good DC that isn't going to be a really good HC. Wish him nothing but success if he moves on to USCe.

Yeah, it is. Why would ANY coach take a job who an institution that missed the Death Penalty only because the NCAA was afraid to execute? Tide fans and Franchione were shocked when Alabama SELF IMPOSED heavy scholarship reductions while the PR said the infractions were minor? Why would any coach refuse to sign a 10 year extension? Bama fed him and the fans a load of BS and realizing they would not be able to hire anyone with credentials after sanctions offered him a 10 year deal in desperation.

I'm not a fan of Franchione. He was a snake who found himself in a snake pit. He slithered away when he realized the snake pit was more devious than he was ... and they had venom in their fangs.

After last night and with Baylor still to play, I think UT fans/boosters have seen enough of Strong. Two years in, and still no offense to speak of, all the while OK, BU, OSU, and TCU having success. And, as someone mentioned, TAMU is recruiting big time in state, as is Baylor, OK, and several SEC teams.
Also, while I like Strong, I don't think he would ever get the ND job. Not a good fit for Domers.

Yeah ok. Whatever you say. The penalties levied against Bama would not even occur today. why? There was zero evidence that anyone from the university did anything. Zero. None. A booster evidently paid a coach for Means commitment. And the only association with the school was that he was a booster. Bama and Bama fans were pissed when he left given the fact that he did have success at Bama and he heavily lobbied every junior and senior to stay the course... meanwhile he was working on a back door deal to go to A&M. And for that he is a piece of sh**. As I said... no big deal and common in CFB today for coaches to say one thing and do the exact opposite. And you should know all about that... you don't have to look to far to see one that did just that.

I would want out of that mess if I were him. Go to South Carolina and build something in the weak East division.

Is the East division really the weak one anymore? Obviously, Saban's Bama is the monster of the SEC, but Florida and Tennessee look as good for next year as anyone else in the conference.

Florida got beat by LSU. The end. Nobody in the East could beat the West's Top 4 or 5. Especially with Harris at QB for Florida.

As far as next year, if there are 2 more unpredicatable teams than Florida or Tennessee, I must not know them. No way to predict how they will be, especially with Grier missing the first few games for Florida.

The original topic was full disclosure and I pointing out how smart, Smart was for knowing his local history something Franchione was either negligent about or just too trusting. You've spun booster, no big deal, recruits, etc while dodging that for no big deal Bama self imposed 15 scholarship reductions while neglecting to tell the incoming coach and heads rolled in Tuscaloosa.

Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it. Smart man that Smart,. Knows his history first hand. Spin on.
