It's funny to think that we will play 4 teams as tough as or tougher than the toughest team Ohio State plays all year. I wonder if we will ever wake up and build a manageable schedule that doesn't aim to play one or multiple top teams from every single major non-SEC conference. We lucked into USC and Michigan both being down last year and our schedule was still brutal.
I only partially agree with this. I do hate the fact that other teams player easier schedules and ND consistently books games with top tier programs. However, there's a legit argument that ND has to do this until they join a conference (if they ever do). With the system slowly converting to a playoff format, it's going to be harder for teams like ND, who have no affiliation to leap frog a conference champ w/o having the SOS to back it up (regardless of what the other team's SOS is). It sucks. I hate it. But it's the reality.
You can throw the argument out there that a committee would select a 11-1 or even possibly a 10-2 ND team over others because of the ratings/money draw. But I'm not sure how long that argument will hold up in the playoff system.
With that said, I really do enjoy the constant marquee matchups that ND faces each week. Unfortunately, it gives me an ulcer because I know the entire season is riding on getting the W so they can get to the BCS.
Edit: My post above was hating on OSU as well. Any team in the B1G, with the kind of schedules UM and OSU are putting out there, shouldn't warrant a BCS level game of any kind. It's a complete joke. I swear if a 12-0 OSU beats out a 10-2 or 11-1 SEC team or ND team for a BCS berth, I will be livid!
