I have it on good authority that this was Ash during the defensive staff meeting.

2008 doesn't actually watch the game I think he just looks at what stats are. Green isn't some crazy scrambling QB and spying him is a waste. Bring pressure and collapse the middle of the pocket a keep integrity in your rush lanes if you are nervous about him scrambling

I don't think we spy because I expect Bowen to still play 75% of snaps because Arkansas has 2 very big RBs (Russel I think is like 240lbs).

Maybe on third and long plays they'll spy somewhat, but not early downs.
They’re not a ND’s level but both their RBs are good. And yes, one is a load.

Arkansas is probably the 13th best team in the SEC. They've got some talent offensively and Petrino is certainly capable of scheming up something to expose Ash, but they aren't that good of a team. Notre Dame will have better players all across the field. Sure, there will be some points (as I don't trust Ash and Arkansas's defense looks pretty bad), but Notre Dame pulls away in the 2nd half. 45-24 Irish.
From your lips to God’s ears. Seriously, I know God doesn’t give a damn about who wins games but I’ve convinced myself Arkansas is winning this to teach me I need to get over letting my happiness depending on the actions of 18-23 year old strangers. I don’t even talk much smack, but I will get sooooooo much shit if ND loses this game. My phone will likely explode from all the idiots I know whom I haven’t communicated with in years.

Moore and Smith still being questionable is such a bummer, any other insiders comment on them? Moore looked fine walking around Sunday.

Their entire board is just coach search stuff. Only problem for us is the OC wants the job.

Can you imagine Denbrock making calls saying he’s willing to replace MMFF “just in case”

I know im a fluffer and wear green tinted glasses, but i feel really confident that a lot of defensive issues are gonna get sorted

I truly think MF is gonna make Ass look at what worked last year... and do it more

It may seem over-simplistic, but man... they did it all the way to the Natty

Don't tell me we cant do it again and beat this good, but suspect team

I was kinda hoping this was a pre-requisite for the job when Ass won it. Like "Hey, it ain't broke, don't fix it."

RR makes a good point that ND should have made these changes for the Purdue game where mistakes made in ironing things out wouldn’t be as painful in a game with a lesser talented squad. Now we’ll be doing it in the important AR game. And the next 3 games after that one will be tough to get through . Here’s hoping the team, especially the D make a lot of progress and we finish the 4-game gauntlet by absolutely crushing USC!

A Daunting Road Ahead

“The next four opponents all average at least 31.5 points per game, with three of them averaging over 35 points, and two averaging over 40. Each can make it a long day for Ash’s group if they don’t show improvement.”

Sadly, no one has any respect for Arkansas as a serious opponent b/c they’re one of the worst teams in the SEC. Their D sucks & they’ve lost fumbles on critical TD drives the past two games. ND’s D sucks too so something has to give. With all better-than-average to high powered offenses ND will face over the next five games, I’m not expecting ND to magically fix their offense this week & then they run the table. With the D that we saw against Purdue, they have at least two more losses coming over the next five games. Who knows what the rest of the season looks like after that.

I actually feel a little bit of the opposite. I think people are sort of overrating Arkansas a bit because they play in the SEC. That isn't to say they can't beat us or anything at all. It's a road game against a non dumpster fire P4 team, but some people are making them out to be a little better than they are because of the conference they play in.

Arkansas is a lot like Nebraska. Good enough to make most games close and may even have a 2nd half lead but you just know 75% of the time it won’t hold up for one reason or another.

I think Arkansas would compete for the B12 title tbh, more so bc I don’t think the B12 has a top 20 team this year, but Arky has some talent and a dynamic QB.

To put it in perspective, Arkansas would also have the most talented roster in the B12 per the 247 team talent composite, and would be 4th most talented in the ACC

I’ll be at the game Saturday. Tell me where to stay away from so I can enjoy the atmosphere & game. I’m sure most Hog fans are friendly but would like to avoid any verbal/physical altercations.

Right. They’re like playing Navy. If you beat them, you’re supposed to beat them. If they pull the upset, it’s humiliating. The Wild Card is Bobby Petrino. May be a horrible human being but he’s a frickin’ witch when it comes to OC and he has a QB w/ the physical traits of Green.

There will always be the drunk college crowd on Dickson Street but generally fans have pretty low expectations/apathy for football right now and tickets to this game aren’t as hot as they were a few weeks ago so I don’t see it being too bad. Might be different if this was Texas or LSU but we don’t have any real animosity or history with Notre Dame. The violent part of our fanbase usually seems to come out at Little Rock games.

There are still other factors here that people are taking into account for. An 11:00 central start time and our first time there. Going to be interesting.

We lost the first two games so the crowd wouldn't be too loud and hostile.

Unfortunately this is why I’m hesitant it won’t get fixed. Ash literally said this when he got hired and look what happened. I’m still baffled that this was the talk all offseason and this is what we get in-season.

Matches the movement on Tuesday last week. Moore and Smith’s injury designation IMO.
