Denard still scares me. Someone ease my fears, please.

GO IRISH

Arm punt doesn't play defense.
The defensive line isn't of the caliber of Purdue or MSU imo.
Run game should be much improved because of this.
Less time on clock for arm punt's horse shoe to have an effect on this game.
At least that's what I'm telling myself.

LETS GO IRISH!!! Tickets in hand and we will be making our annual 4 hour trip to South Bend from Canada (an hour or so from Detroit) to watch our beloved Irish dine on meat chicken scUM next Saturday night. We planned to leave early but the hype and must win atmosphere is making us change our plans, we are leaving at the crack of dawn to be there early enough to hit a few local stores for ND swag and then tail gate our butts off!

On a side note, other than on campus where are the hidden gems of getting some ND merchandise? I'm sure the local Wal-mart and Mejer have some but looking for some others!

LETS GO IRISH!!!!!

Go to all the good wills. I have gotten 80% of my ND shirts from places like it.

Defense looked awesome. I can't help but imagine what our line would look like with Lynch rotating in with who we already have. Scary. This game is HUGE!

I will grant you a preemptive pardon for treating any physical injuries inflicted on skunkbears by the Irish. I'll even take it upon myself to grant you a plenary indulgence for salving their sagging psyches following their crushing defeat.*

Is it wrong of me to think of Sally Kellerman cheering on the sidelines as Hot Lips Houlihan in the movie M*A*S*H?

*As long as you first pump and hiss "YESSS!" when out of sight.

Actually dshans, I believe the staff have a medical practitioner on-call, specifically for Denard. She's a specialist in her field:

She has obviously been working on her bedside manner with him in mind

Had a employee (U of M fan) text me and say he felt we shoulda got a higher ranking (i disagree) then continued by saying he is an educated U of M fan (not possible to be both lol) and predicts a 31-17 U of M victory. He seemed more than lost as he claimed to be a U of M fan and educated, then said he thought we were underranked and that they would handle us easily. Typical U of M fan.

Hey everyone,

Just joined the forum, hoping to have some good discussion on the imminent battle this weekend. Cannot wait for a great game, it will be my first time attending a game in South Bend.

BTW thank you for handling little brother the other night! Brought tears to my eyes to see their souls stomped out on the field!

GO BLUE!

It wouldn't be as good. Why do you think he left?

From MGoBlog:

Notre Dame secondary has been decimated this season if the report is true. They would now have lost 2 starters (Lo Wood) and may have 2 freshmen starting in the secondary next week. Elijah Shumate looked good for them last night, but you never know when inexperience will rear its head . . .

sink it's fangs into your effin throat, drink your blood, and swallow you whole!

Oh absolutely, but I truly believe we have the program back on track now and things will be back to normal soon enough.

In all honesty that rivalry to Michigan fans is not as important as the ND and o$u rivalries, despite what the michigan agricultural college fans say!

One "positive" takeaway from last year's game is that we can run up the score this year without being accused of being classless.

what i think he is trying to say is that we got conservative and stopped playing offense the way we were earlier in the game.

I'm saying if we are up 24 in the fourth quarter with 6:00 left and throw every down to go up 31 no one on ESPN or the rest of the media can try and say we were running up the score because of what happened last year.

Very true, I don't know if I would advise Kelly to do that though with an inexperienced QB.

Honestly from our view we are most worried about Golson playing poorly, and subsequently Rees getting subbed in later on. Heard that concern from multiple Michigan fans today.

Concerned...about Rees? Is this bizarro world?

Michigan's D line is bad. Cierre is going to go off unless Michigan wants to put 8 or 9 in the box. Then Eifert goes off as well as a healthier Davaris Daniels. Golson and Chris Brown get the South Carolina connection going as well. Furthermore we'll rush 3 or maybe 4. Michigan's OL sucks and they still get in the backfield. Michigan also lacks a run game. Denard runs like a chicken with his head cut off for much of the game chucking inaccurate pass after inaccurate pass. ND 49 Michigan 10.

I dont know that I agree with it, but I have seen the point made on multiple forums as well as being discussed on Michigan Football radio earlier today.

Golson is leagues better than Rees at everything except knowledge of the offense. Better arm, better wheels, more accurate, takes better care of the ball. Michigan fans will learn to fear Golson in good time.

I understand an opponent potentially being worried about Golson getting yanked in favor of Rees because of his experience...

However, that should no longer be the case for anyone who saw the MSU game. Golson showed why his athleticism will trump his inexperience more often than not. Even with his low completion percentage, his first TD to Goodman, rolling right and then throwing a bomb back across field, is a throw that Rees can't even make in his dreams. And it goes without saying that Rees would never have a chance at scrambling around an edge pass rush and getting to the pylon before multiple defenders.

If I'm the opposition and I pay attention, I'm officially more worried about Golson than anything. Especially if he starts hitting wide-open Chris Brown consistently.

Perth,

I agree that our D-line is not up to par this year and the O-line has been struggling with creating running lanes thus far in the season. However, the O-line has been above average in pass blocking for denard this year.

We all expect for every team to follow the "Bama Plan" in attempt to stop Denard this year just as they did.

I truly think this game will all come down to offense for both teams. Your front seven is much better than ours, I will not even attempt to argue that. At the same time though, your defensive backfield is in dire straights by any persons account, I think you would agree with that statement.

If you follow the "Bama Plan", rush 3 or 4 and spy denard all night long, he is a good enough passer he will have more than enough shots to gouge the secondary. At that point your d-coordinator will have to start dialing up the blitz, and we all know what that allows for.

Alabama was able to totally shut down our offense due to their talent in the secondary, not in the front seven. I think you will agree that you do not have the horses to execute a comparable scheme or gamplan to that of the one demonstrated earlier this year.

I do believe it will all come down to who can score more points, and in this case I believe the game could go either way. Should be exciting!

I think your legs are moving a little faster than your body.. like Hendrix's Air Force run. 49-10 is an absolute thrashing. We've been better than this team the past two years and still lost.

I do think we win it b/c of the addition of Golson, strength of our O/D lines and BKs seemingly new cavalier play-calling attitude.

BUT.. BUT.. 16 must be contained. We don't need to blitz him, just keep him nestled in the pocket and we will pull away. If he is given seams, it will be close.

35-15 ND is my prediction.

TheTeam16-

I think you're missing a point though: Denard isn't a QB who is going to sit in the pocket and pick apart a young secondary with his decision making. If anything, playing Denard suits the youth in the secondary better. Russell/Shumate/Farley won't have to worry about getting beat mentally, they will have to worry about physically winning in jump-ball situations.

I have full confidence that Shumate and Russell will turn their heads and compete for Denard's patented underthrown jump balls better than Gary Gray did last year. Freshman or not, they know how to play the ball in the air, and they don't need to worry about Denard sitting in the pocket and winning the game with decision making skills.

I'm sorry but if ND rushes 3 or 4, they will still get pressure and Denard is not a good enough passer to win this game on that alone. He's just not.

With that said, I think your defense is pretty tough. Kovacs seems to be involved in every tackle and they don't quit at all.

Denard has to run to win this game.
