That's not exactly true. This game had some politics involved.
I'm sure there were, and that's fine, first time playing an FCS opponent, HBCU, etc, but they were also looking to play JSU an other HBCUs.

The whole point being, I believe Jack learned some lessons from the 2012 schedule after our last Dublin trip. If you need to play a game after Ireland, better make sure it's a game you're sure to win because Purdue (and a bad Purdue, not the usual scrappy/average Purdue) gave us all we could handle.

You can point out that the "politics" involved are why we are playing a FCS/HBCU instead of SJSU or Eastern Michigan or some other bottom of the barrel G5 team, but the premise for opening up those discussions was almost certainly the Ireland trip.

Bummer, Rubio looked very good on Saturday. I left the afternoon even more excited about the Bash Brothers.
That sucks. He played as well as any DL I thought. Really hoping this is minor and to ensure a full recovery, quickly.

Tyson Ford??

you could see rubio limping while walking down for navy's alma mater after the game. I hoped it wasn't much, i was wrong. Hopefully a few weeks is him back in a limited role by central mi so he's full go for OSU.

Yep, hopefully a sprain rather than something that needs a ”little cleaning up” as in minor cartilage damage.

The fact it’s been reported that they are working on Tempo just shows you their OL can’t pass block, because that’s when you run tempo.
Problem is, after one incompletion or sack, it kills the tempo, because the other team will sub.
I’m looking forward to seeing a bunch of 3 & outs. I think people underestimate them.
An opponent drives 50 yards area, uses 6 minutes of game clock & you turn them over at your own 20. Or you force a 3 & out, 1 minute of game clock & the punter kicks it from his own 15, giving you the ball the 40.
I like those.

I’d rather have this sort of game/level of opponent than one like Marshall.
Neither count towards strength of schedule but one is loseable

If we are up 4-5 scores and Estime comes out for a handoff, I'll lose my gd mind. First week, I understand the coaches are maybe not doing everything 100% but let's keep the wear and tear of Estime when we can; especially if it means we can get reps for our young backs.

Really impressive press conference by Freeman. I'll be honest a lot of his more recent appearances felt a little PJ Fleck-y for my tastes but watching this reminded me of likeable he is.

He should quit chewing gum during press conferences though

Right there with ya. Though I couldn't put my finger on who it was reminding me of.

I agree about running up the score. I want to see 60 points. And for Steve to get some real throwing time.

I doubt we’ll see Minchey.
If there's a game where Minchey gets in it would be this one...but have to agree. Get Angeli as many reps as possible as backup.

Sounds like TSU has a ton of transfers. Most of them come from fellow HBCU schools I really hope ND can get to 40 pts by the early 3rd quarter so reserves can get some meaningful game reps. Every year we hope for this and it rarely happens.
