Their entire team sucks besides McDowell and as long as B1G refs don't get in the way we're going to embarass them in prime time.

I would really love to have whatever it is you're smoking Lax. Not trying to be rude, but Kelly and our IRISH don't know how to embarrass anybody.
We have almost no info on this team, Our D sucks, they've had 2 weeks to prep, and we always play these guys close.
Me personally I have no idea what to think.

meh, in Kelly era, 2 games close 3 or 4 pts and 2 games by 17 or 18 pts.

Ok, so In just the Kelly era we're 3-1 with an average win margin of 9pts total, 13 in wins. That's still pretty close. But I was also speaking historically. It always seems to be relatively close. And not just against MSU. Kelly never puts his foot on the throat, and we play to our competition.

A 9 point win margin is average? Against a team with the record of Dantonio's?

Kelly not 'putting his foot on the throat' is one thing I like about him. It separates him from the Stalin's and the Bonaparte's of the world, and gets more players game experience. And that will be even more important with the Irish moving forward; as it appears they are bringing in better and better talent. Having great talent is one thing, getting it game experience is another, and this is one of the reasons I believe that ND is reliably developing talent with the best of them!

Besides that foot on the throat thing is overrated, it only makes a big difference for those that are undersized to begin with.

Here's to having an empire like those two, even if it only lasts 3 years instead of decades.

None of those games were played with a BVG defense.

Especially excited for this game, I'm doing color guard for this game and there's going to be a flyover, so there's a good chance that they film the anthem and I end up on TV. We get to stay down and watch from the field afterwords too

What are you going to use as your subtle reference to IE? We need to know what to look for.

I'll post what flag I'll be holding when I find out. I'll probably be holding the Navy flag though. Gotta keep that military bearing on lock though

Which means I'll also have to keep my shit together while standing on the sidelines. Probably not a good look to yell "the refs are benefactors of ISIS" while in uniform on the sidelines

Here's my take. MSU is a solid tough team in general under Dantonio. They almost always play blah in their first game of a season and get better as the year goes on. They beat Furman by two TDs and looked like they were playing an early camp scrimmage. They have McDowell on the D line who is massive and very talented. The rest of the line is just put together this year. Another Bullough in the middle at LB with a decent LB core and a potentially suspect backfield. On O they have O' Connor who will be serviceable but no star and tends to stare down receivers. He is in his last year and doesn't have a ton of critical playing time on his record. They have a good tough RB in LJ Scott and decent others to spell him. They need to figure out their WRs as most didn't play too much or weren't targeted much last year. However, that doesn't mean they don't have talent there. Watch out for Felton Davis. Also they have decent TEs. Sparty had last week off but they haven't come into shape yet and need to figure themselves out. They are a good team but not as good as the last couple years, I think.

I think we should be able to get pressure on the QB and contain their running game to mostly short gains. They will hit some over the top but not enough due to O'Connor's not great arm. We may have trouble running it generally until later in the game but should be able to move the ball ok as long as we present a decent mix of plays and keep them guessing. DK should be able to make enough connections against their D, but the OL will need to play well for us.

I think we win by 5-10 points and hope we come out with less injuries then we usually do against them (not that they play dirty, just very tough and hard).

I respect MSU under Dantonio and do have concerns that a play or two going south at the wrong time could mean a loss, but the fact that they only played one game and that was against Furman compared to our two with one being against a tough Texas team leads me to believe we are further along the learn curve than they are.

Pep rally was ok, never been to one in Joyce before but it held decent noise.

Throughout my entire life, I don't think I've ever been at a pep rally without wondering when it was going to be over.

They are generally painful.

Something about 'em... I think it's like a hyper-awareness of how obsessed we are over a game, and that feeling is too real and disconcerting. Sort of like a message board with bodies expressing itself in chants.

Anyway, GO IRISH! (lol)

Keep going. (A little more. Or a little moar, if you would like.)

How about a Little Moore.

I think their defense is probably best we have faced so that limits # of TDs. But Yoon puts 3 Fgs for us. 1 at end of each half.

I think back to last time we played them when they only had played 1 game vs a far ineferior opponent then had to play us after a bye week. That was probably the best MSU team under Dantonio and we still got it done.

This MSU team has same characteristics but is far less ready, And it shows in a few key moments.

I sure hope your right because we need this win. Your confidence gives me a little ease but until that time comes I'll be nervous as ever.

Right now you have some viewers somewhere asking themselves, who did those guys coach? You know it, right?

Hmmm. I don't know. We agree on most things, but I think Texas' defense is a shade better than Moo-U. I think that even though the Longhorns are a bit younger, they have better overall talent in the secondary, and though no one on the Texas squad is as good as the McDowell, the other three at Texas is a better group than anything that MSU can put on the field. As far as linebackers, I think two out of the first three for Texas are better. But I understand your point and it is close.

Finally, remember MSU doesn't have Narduzzi anymore and Texas' new Defensive staff is tits!
