Not sure if this is a smart move to reinvigorate the program and excite the fans, or a bad case of putting lipstick on a pig. Auburn hasn't had a winning season since 2019 and are on their 3rd or 4th coach since then, plus they're still paying some major buyout money. Not sure what justifies this big of an upgrade.

I'm not wild about this. Not really upset either, but...

I think we're going to be a perpetual 9-3 or 10-2 sort of team under him. Playoffs most years, but probably never a CG appearance let alone a title. I think we're looking at being good to very good, but never great under him. That's not the standard we expect. We understand that nobody is going to be Saban, but just good isn't going to be good enough.

If losing the game vs UGA that decided which SEC team is the best doesn’t count, then beating them in a regular season game shouldn’t count either.

Yeah, 7 years feels a bit too much this early. DeBoer has been riding Saban's coattails a bit the last two years. We could see further steps back the more removed he is from Saban's build.

So now Lane is slandering Ole Miss to make his departure sound better? Does anyone believe this actually has anything to do with him leaving?

Does anyone actually think that players are picking a school based on how their "grandparents" feel about events that took place there a half-century years ago, rather than the size of the bag? Do players know about the history of other SEC schools, e.g., Alabama?
