While we have a Stanford thread, this seems appropriate here at this time.

BREAKING: Pac 12 Already Eliminated From Next Year's College Football Playoff

The three non-conference games on Stanford's schedule are Notre Dame, Northwestern and UCF.
Eliminating the games we have little control over - the five ACC games due to conference partial membership and USC, Stanford and Navy, our four games (a de facto non-conference) are @Georgia, @Michigan, Bowling Green and New Mexico.
Georgia's non-conference schedule is Notre Dame, Arkansas State, Murray State, and Georgia Tech.

The committee needs to legit ban FCS. It's incoherent that it's still allowed. The Yankees don't get to pad their record with a series against the Hartford Yard Goats. It's an entirely different league.

Dan Patrick just said on his show that sources close to him are saying that Tua is very doubtful for their playoff game. Does it matter?

Against OU, probably not. Jalen's improved tremendously as a passer and his ability to run would let us just go ball control (which may be what we want to do anyway). Against ND or Clemson I'd worry about not having Tua, but against OU, Jalen might even be the better option.

This is what burns my #$$ and what is wrong with college football today- how some of these guys get in and stay in is also a concern-its a mess with the real heroes being the admn of the schools that allow this-the coaches are inconsequential. Ever notice how they never say much about the college life experience or what these guys are taking and how their doing---because nobody cares as they pound their chest over good old State U.

Tee Martin headed back to Tenn. Also Jennings announced he's returning.
That's pretty darn good news for the Volts. I think you have to give Fulmer a little credit.

Paul Finebaum getting crucified today by a lot of Bammer fans... for simply being rationale and honest...

All the PF haters need to tune in to either 1) enjoy it, or 2) see that PF isn't near as bad (being an SEC/Bama homer) as he's made out to be. And he is a homer, just not near the worst out there...

Looks like Mizzou had a tutor helping players. From SI.com

Missouri Banned from 2019 Post Season and Vacates Wins

Missouri's football program has been banned from competing in the 2019 postseason after the NCAA found a former university tutor guilty of completing coursework for 12 athletes, the NCAA announced on Thursday.

According to the NCAA's report, the former tutor "completed an entire course" for one football player and "assisted two football student-athletes' completion of Missouri's math placement exam," violating the NCAA's ethical conduct and benefits bylaws.

In addition to the postseason ban, the Tigers' football program must also vacate records in which those football players participated while ineligible. The university will also have its scholarships reduced by five percent for the 2019-2020 academic year.

The NCAA will also implement "a seven-week ban on unofficial visits, a 12.5 percent reduction in official visits, a seven-week bank on recruiting communications, a seven-week ban on all off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations and a 12.5 percent reduction in recruiting-person or evaluation days."

Missouri's softball and baseball programs were also hit with sanctions. In total, the school's athletics received three years of probation. The tutor has received a 10-year show-cause order from the NCAA, and any school employing the tutor is to restrict her from athletic-related duties.

https://247sports.com/college/michi...commitment-of-5-star-recruit-Jai-E-128481350/

From 2003 to 2007 Florida safeties coach Ron English served as the defensive backs coach (03-05) and defensive coordinator (06-07) at the University of Michigan. During a recent interview with The Michigan Insider English reflected upon some noteworthy recruiting misses during his time in Ann Arbor. In part five he recaps the story of late decommitment of former five-star defensive back Jai Eugene in 2006. If you missed parts one through four of this series, be sure to check out English's account of Demarco Murray wanting to come to Michigan, Desean Jackson being a 'done deal' for the Maize & Blue, that time Michigan turned down Beast Mode, and When Ronald Johnson decommitted.

Ron English: “So we're on Jai Eugene (at Michigan), and he's a good player. We want him, and we needed him, and all that stuff. Fred Jackson recruited Louisiana, so we're going to go down (together) and see him. We go down after Katrina and Fred drives me around one of the wards, and I've never seen anything like it. It's like The Wizard of Oz. You're seeing cars tucked into second story windows, and in trees, and all that. It was crazy. But you go down to the French Quarter and they had taken care of all of that. So anyway… (back to) Jai Eugene, we go to Destrehan, we go to the school, and we finally get Jai committed. In fact, Jai Eugene commits to us on national TV at the Army Game. Now, we go (back) down to his school… I go down… this is January. One of the recruiters down south, he was at Tennessee… (he said), ‘what’s up Ron? How are you doing man? Hey, you know (Eugene’s recruitment) is just starting now? Whoever has the biggest bag is going to win.' At that time I didn't really believe that kind of stuff was going on. I didn't know. I thought it was just talk.”

“But Jai stays committed, and we go down to the final weekend. Now it's Monday… it’s either Monday or Tuesday of the signing week, and Wednesday is Signing Day. Fred comes to my office (and says),’ Ron, you've got to talk to Jai. He's talking about he's not coming. You’ve got to talk to him’ Of course I love Fred. I start immediately chuckling. Just like this (I said), ‘Jai, what's going on man?’ (Eugene said), ‘Coach, they came to the birthday party on Sunday… and you know my daddy just got out of jail and they got him a job, and they got my momma a house, and they said they were going to take care of my baby. I gotta go to LSU. I said, ‘Jai, you do. You gotta go to LSU.’ And he goes to LSU.”

“And Bo (Schembechler) was… oh my God! Bo was mad, because Bo heard about it. And Bo said… I’m not going to tell you what he said. Bo said a lot of stuff, and Bo was so mad. He was mad. Bo heard about it… Bo was mad. He was the old Bo on that one. He was mad for real. It wasn’t no fake mad. He was mad, and he made some statements that came true. He made some statements that came true… let me just put it like that.”

He is just being an opportunist and trying to get people to call in-the guy walks his pet rat just like his hero Howard Cosell-and he loathes Notre Dame-the guy is an arrogant %$# and has the nerve to call Notre Dame arrogant because of its choice to stay independent-would never engage in a proper debate about Notre Dame with a caller and usually bullies such calls-yeh I listen once in awhile and he's a @&$!

I wonder if college football/NCAA will ever muscle up and bring the sec/Clemson type programs back to the pack with a more universal eligibility system-can it be done or is each university looked at as a separate entity that can pretty much do as it pleases and make up its own requirements?

SEC didn't fair too well to open the season. Mizzou, South Carolina, Ole Miss and the Vols all lost to underdogs. Arkansas and Miss St. barely beat less than stellar opponents. Auburn might have lost if Oregon's coach would have managed the clock better.

All true & no one enjoyed it more than me but it’s one week and if this plays out per usual, the SEC will bounce back or they’ll at least have two teams in the CFP. If UGA boat-races ND it’ll just reinforce the “ND can’t compete (much less win) on the biggest of stages”

Was talking to a couple of UGA fans yesterday. They were bringing some smack, then one said in all honesty he thought ND could play in the SEC. I replied, "No kidding? Besides Bama and Georgia what does the SEC have that is so elite?" I then reminded him pf how the SEC fared in week one. He replied, "I guess you have a point."

Meh. Four of the five worst teams lost. The middle tier teams struggled. The top teams won easily. 10-4 opening weekend with the worst teams showing us why they're bad. Only surprise for me was finding out UT was even worse than expected... and I wasn't expecting much.
