besides the fact justin ferguson is ranked the 97th WR overall which is absolute BS, those seem like pretty accurate ratings.

What's interesting is that Michigan only has two recruits in the top 100 and only 1 5 star wheras we have 5 recruits in the top 100 and 3 five starts

They have the number one class right now based mainly on numbers. IF they keep this class together, they will finish with a top ten class but certainly not number one. Big if on keeping their class together.

As for Ferguson, if he can produce this year and pick up some more big time offers from across the country, he will move up.

All the Class Ranking are influenced by Quantity. As IM3 notes UM will probably have a Top 10 Class.

This year's rankings should be a better guage than past years now that the SEC can't bring in a class of 30+. In past years the SEC schools (and several others) usually dropped in the rankings due to non-qualifiers, greyshirts, MLB, etc.

UM currently has a Star rating of 3.61. We can debate Stars but I've found them a more relative guage of the respective teams and classes. Last year ND's average Star rating was 3.61 and ND finished 7th on NSD. Currently UM is that same 3.61 while ND is up this year to 3.77.

If you look back through the years you'll see that Southern Cal was ranking up 4.0 classes year after year while ND was in the low 3. Southern Cal at 3.78 and ND at 3.77 are essentially a wash. The dominant edge in overall talent is gone. (And as is the coaching edge.)

Still lots of time until NSD. There will be considerable movement in that Top 10.

Excellent points! ND has a two star LS, which hurts the avg star rating. So ND's 3.77 is very solid.

I would say the dominant edge for coaching has swung ND's way.

I think you're absolutely right. But, I'm not counting any chickens yet...

Welcome back, I haven't seen you in awhile. I was away for a bit though, so maybe I missed you. Either way, look forward to another season with you, holding it down in the gameday thread while the world implodes around us.

No implosions this year. :) But, I'll be there from time to time.

Have a beer on me...

The Jones commitment moved us up to the #8 class. Imagine where we'll end if we land even a couple of the blue-chippers still on our radar.

I honestly think the only 3* prospect left on Notre Dame's board this year is Ian Thomas. They are very high on him in the slot but a lot of the recruiting agencies aren't showing him a lot of love. Maybe that will change as the season progresses, maybe not. I trust the judgement of this staff first and foremost. I think it is highly likely that with a successful season on the field, ND will bring in another top 10 class. If all goes well, a top 5 class is certainly attainable.

Get ready for an unfair dropping of our point total as the services lower Tee Shephard's standing due to being ineligible.

Could not agree more. The prospects that fell in love with ND have committed. The prospects that like ND, but are still worried about the program, understandable, are in a wait and see pattern. If we pump out a 9-3 season with the team looking great, you might see players finding ND more favorable.
