I duno. I think the Big 12 is easier when comparing what Bama has to deal with every year.

LSU------------------------Oklahoma
Auburn--------------------OK State
A&M-----------------------Baylor
Ole Miss-------------------Texas Tech
Miss St--------------------Kansas St
Tennessee----------------TCU
Arkansas------------------WVU
Random SEC East--------Iowa State
any non conf cupcake----Kansas

Just looking at these teams and how I expect them to be in the next few years, I'd rather face the Big 12 teams.

I don't see much differnce honestly... Two years ago most wouldn’t have included A&M and Mizzou as pluses for UT’s Ischedule… I’d say Tech, KSU, OSU, OU, UT, Baylor, TCU are all good programs that truly beat up on each other, whereas UGA, UF, Bama and LSU are all really good teams that generally beat up on the rest of their conference… I think Mizzou and A&M having the amount of success they have had speak to this... I think the preception is the SEC is just stronger but I don't buy the Miss schools, Tenn. or Arky... and even SC to a degree, being much more than smoke screens/average to below programs... just me.

I would imagine if this change is going to happen, it has to happen rather soon. It would be interesting to see if he will be recruiting for Texas after the "dead" period. I also would imagine that many of his Alabama targets have Texas offers. You have to believe that Alabama is covering all bases to ensure they could hold this current class together. I also wonder if he would drop some current verbal’s to Texas for "his guys". A lot up in the air right now, wonder who would be some of the benefactors as far as recruiting is concerned if this were to happen. By all accounts he told Elem that he was staying, so if you were him or his mother could he be trusted?

Right. What would be shitty (if Saban will bolt) is to run this thing out until these guys sign their LOI.

I agree he just wants to be able to say he nailed it before anyone else. He needs to realize that he's about 50th on the list.

I think it will be interesting to see if he goes to Texas and doesn't win a NC. If you are getting that kind of money and a percentage of the Longhorn Network and whatever else they throw at him, you better win a NC. And let's be realistic, yeah it's Texas and the resources are huge, but it's not easy to win a NC. Saban has had to count on other teams losing in order to even get into the NC. What if Oregon wins out last year or K. State? In all of his seasons he's only run the table one time. Unless I missed something. In the SEC you get a mulligan if you lose to Johnny Football or to LSU, but you probably won't get that mulligan when you take a dump against Oklahoma State.

And with that kind of contract, he better win it quick. I think Saban is a great coach, but I think it's a good possibility he doesn't win a NC and it gets ugly in 3 years or less.

Ole Miss is ALWAYS on the rise...and they have not been good except when Cutcliffe coached Eli there.

Freeze has had one good recruiting year, but the team still was pretty terrible.

OU, OSU, Baylor, TTU, TX, KSU...just as deep if not deeper than the SEC, even with Mizzou and Aggies added in...momentarily, anyway.

TOTALLY subjective and honestly the Mississippi team are terrible every year; Arkansas is done for a while because of the damage Petrino did; Tennesse is NOT better than TCU at this point; not sure that the Aggies are any better than Baylor as their Defense is every bit as atrocious as people say. Auburn is not miles better than OK State, either.

People perceive the SEC as better from top to bottom because of their top 4 teams. After that every team is a pretty terrible program.

I mean, why not say that Vandy is a legit team too???

SMH. SEC Bias has creeped into IE, too??

Miss St does not equal Kansas State.

KSU almost went to the title game a year ago and has a long tradition of winning under Snyder. Miss St has nothing. The only time they have won the SEC was in 1941.

EXACTLY.

Hard to believe that the SEC bias has seeped into IE, too.

Makes me all kinds of disappointed.

As I was going to say on FB the other day, the SEC has divvied up their last eight appearances in the BCS title game among FOUR schools.

The rest of the league is a pile of crap outside of those four and South Carolina.

Although FLA definitely seems on the way down, fast.

I have always been on the fence on what is happening here... sadly, I'm starting to side with Finnebaum’s (don’t really care if it’s spelled right) of the world... I think Saban stays.

Would have been cool though, I would have called it long before the rumor ever started (last year).

I also heard today that its a sticking point that some of the wealthy boosters for Texas will want a personal relationship with him, and he's not like that. Also that he will have obligations to the Longhorn Network if he gets a stake. He may be required to fulfill a schedule that he doesn't set. And we know he's not like that either.

I think the SEC is not as good this year as in recent past years, but I do think they are the best conference right now, though all conferences have their dogs. One way to judge it is based on just watching the quality of play. But a more objective measure is talent, as seen by the people who know a lot more than me -- NFL teams. Here's the conference numbers of NFL players through 2012.

It's not definitive, but it does show quality of talent. I admit it doesn't judge current talent, but it shows a past trend.

The Big 12 is such a powerhouse conference. There is a reason why they consistently win the national title, win more bowl games, put more players in the NFL, dominate recruiting, and dominate the tv ratings. No wonder Saban wants to go to Texas. The Big 12 has proven to be the best conference that offers the biggest challenge year after year after year.....

Who needs expert opinion from every major network, former and current coaches, and NFL management when we have some of the posters on IE? So long Kirk. So long Robert. So long Lou. Gary. Robert. Chris. etc etc etc.

Has to be a troll, doesn't it? No one is that dumb, right?

I thought it might be real until this gem:

Alabama fans are rich as hell. You see how many of them have more than one car? Hell, even our houses have wheels.
