We live in a true bizzaro world were people are doing a victory lap and straining their arms for the pats on the backs they're giving themselves for oil being $95 a barrel.
When you tie yourself to the notion that O&G is priority #1 and that any sort of fluctuation in price is tied to a causational relationship between one admin, and then when the numbers come showing otherwise....you'll notice people will point out how ridiculous that stance was in the first place.
And not increase domestic production nor open up domestic drilling or pipelines. So just make it hurt as much as possible...for American people. Quite noble of her.
Speaking of russian oil imports, I think I saw somewhere that russia accounts for 3% of our oil imports. Anybody else see this? Or am I making this up?
I have heard 3%. And I was sort of dismayed as well.
But first, think about it on a macro level. That 3% is still supposedly like 209,000 of crude oil and 500,000 of other petroleum. Per day. So, several hundred million, per day, to russia.
But if we're genuinely concerned about sanctions and hurting russia, then we should probably stop (or at least cut way down).
There are thousands. But that's a disingenuous number. I thing Irish#1 posted it earlier, but here is more info again.
Energy industry swipes back at Psaki 'red herring' comment on oil and gas leases
Biden and his administration have clearly made gas and oil persona non gratta. There is a huge push to over-regulate, tax, and disincentive oil and gas production. Further, the push to go "green" has been shortsighted on biden's part. Right now, we can't have a push to be "green" AND have cheap gas and fuel. For now, they are very much mutually exclusive.
And on cue, the nyt and wapo have now begun with "blaming biden for gas prices and inflation is playing into putin's hands." The nyt "fact checker" said this...in a "fact check."
The undeniable, objective truth is that putin and russia have escalated rising gas prices. Similarly, biden has undeniably and objectively contributed to rising gas prices and inflation. Pointing this out does not make someone "pro russia," "pro putin," nor a "russian agent." But that's the dishonest story we will now get from media and politicians.
