We live in a true bizzaro world were people are doing a victory lap and straining their arms for the pats on the backs they're giving themselves for oil being $95 a barrel.

When you tie yourself to the notion that O&G is priority #1 and that any sort of fluctuation in price is tied to a causational relationship between one admin, and then when the numbers come showing otherwise....you'll notice people will point out how ridiculous that stance was in the first place.

And not increase domestic production nor open up domestic drilling or pipelines. So just make it hurt as much as possible...for American people. Quite noble of her.

Speaking of russian oil imports, I think I saw somewhere that russia accounts for 3% of our oil imports. Anybody else see this? Or am I making this up?

I have heard 3%. And I was sort of dismayed as well.

But first, think about it on a macro level. That 3% is still supposedly like 209,000 of crude oil and 500,000 of other petroleum. Per day. So, several hundred million, per day, to russia.

But if we're genuinely concerned about sanctions and hurting russia, then we should probably stop (or at least cut way down).

There are thousands. But that's a disingenuous number. I thing Irish#1 posted it earlier, but here is more info again.

Energy industry swipes back at Psaki 'red herring' comment on oil and gas leases

Biden and his administration have clearly made gas and oil persona non gratta. There is a huge push to over-regulate, tax, and disincentive oil and gas production. Further, the push to go "green" has been shortsighted on biden's part. Right now, we can't have a push to be "green" AND have cheap gas and fuel. For now, they are very much mutually exclusive.

And on cue, the nyt and wapo have now begun with "blaming biden for gas prices and inflation is playing into putin's hands." The nyt "fact checker" said this...in a "fact check."

The undeniable, objective truth is that putin and russia have escalated rising gas prices. Similarly, biden has undeniably and objectively contributed to rising gas prices and inflation. Pointing this out does not make someone "pro russia," "pro putin," nor a "russian agent." But that's the dishonest story we will now get from media and politicians.

Very interesting to see the media (and therefore citizen) obsession with Ukraine when this has been going on for almost a decade. I'm sure there are no perverse reasons attributing to the focus.
You could do this with endemic diseases and COVID (malaria kills more in the prime of their lives) this went from 0 to 60 quickly. It will cause economic pandemonium. It involves a nuclear power. It has the potential to spiral into a nuclear catastrophe. It also has a clear good guy and bad guy david/Goliath angle. Yemen doesn't impact us much. It is complicated (Iran/Saudi Arabia proxy war, US trying to restrain SA but balancing against losing them as an ally and risk of Iranian proxy state training terrorists). Yemen/Ethiopia/Myanmar etc. Are sad, but the stakes aren't as high and they've been shouldering for a while.

90 dollar oil and 140 dollar oil are the difference between global recession and an average price of oil adjusted for inflation. Given the discount Russian oil can sell for as well as the drop in Chinese demand it also impacts where Russia can sell to raise money.

This is like the ndnationer complaining we let Navy Rush for 200 yards and even though we won by 21 that our D coordinator should be fired.

With all due respect, this perspective is insane to me. Over 200,000 kids under 5 killed - not possibly killed or at future risk - but actually killed. And there is a US involvement although few want to turn over that rock.

You have a lot of spare time on your hands. Congrats?

Not sure how nancy pelosi, how much oil we import from russia, the overhead cost of drilling and production of oil, the objective truths that biden (and his policies) and that putin and russia have contributed to rising gas prices at the pump, the media's dishonest reporting/activism, and the price of oil today being $95 = O&G is priority number 1 and there's no relationship between price of gas and one administration.

Are you searching for ANOTHER pat on the back and others to engage in a victory lap with you for $95 barrells?

Ok then, guy, we're all thrilled it's a $95!!! Hooray!!! Yay team!!!

Except it's not 90, and it didn't reach 140.

Again, please forgive some of us for liking 95 better than 124...but still being able to keep it in our pants upon hearing this news.

5 min tops.

When go on ad nasuem daily about how x/y/z are the causes of rising gas prices, but don't seem to support it with any data. Then it hits $95 and prices are still high it's a major l-o-l.

All geopolitical matters aside, there are hurting people in Ukraine.

For anyone wanting to help in a practical manner, we have boots on the ground in Germany who are doing two things:

1. Our German partners (literally German pastors and their church members) are traveling from Germany with vehicles loaded with food/medicine/other supplies, through Poland into Ukraine to connect with our partners in Ukraine (again Ukrainian pastors and their church members).

2. Once the supplies in the vehicles are unloaded in Ukraine then the vehicles are filled with Ukrainians fleeing the war zones. They are taken to safety in Germany where they are given housing/shelter, food and any needed supplies. And then they do it all over again. A recent trip got 29 Ukrainians to safety in Germany. Another trip found one of our partners shot and in the hospital in critical condition, just an average person helping others get to safety.

Our church has become the hub for our denominations state efforts in Colorado. We are wiring money to Germany, 100% of funds are going to our ministry partners in Germany who get help to our Ukrainian partners getting people out of harms way.

If you want to help you can do so here: Ukraine Support

Thanks for your consideration!

LOCAL NEWS STORY: Local Church Helps Ukrainians

P.S. Below is a video from one of our German partners, a pastor, on some housing that is now filled by 2 Ukrainian families. One family with 8 kids 2 of which are adopted, and other with 6 kids. (The "Steve"he refers to in the video is one of our partners here in Colorado).

Except I didn't go on ad nasuem about it. Most of the handful of quotes you gave were in relation to other topics...or comments on other posts or articles posted. So context kinda matters, chief. And, while you were stalking through my posts, you must have come across some numbers, citations, and articles (and common sense) for "data."

Maybe you can get back to my OT on this topic and explain to all of us mouth breathers why 95 isn't just "meh," but, rather, is such glorious news that posters compiled almost 1 page of posts glorifying it?

Surely you have 5 minutes to explain that.

The Yemeni Civil War has been going on for 8 years. Of course there are more fatalities than this 2 week old conflict.

American policy to British/French colonies and protectorate post WW2 are a large part of the worlds' past/present conflicts. Had we backed up Ho Chi Minh and Mosaddegh post WW2 the world would be a far better place. There are no great options in the middle east and whatever we do there will be bad outcomes. We could be doing more for Yemen (though we're currently persona non grata w Saudi Arabia in part because they're mad we aren't helping more there). But there are clear reasons everyone's attention is on Ukraine.

Bud, those posts were to show that you're obsessed with trying to pin price shocks on a single administration without any sort of support showing the direct causational relationship. There were literally two posts from my count that even mentioned the price, not sure why you're upset with that. Also, Drayer brought up O&G first so maybe take it up with him.

The overall point that you mouth breathers should understand that trying go bananas over O&G while ignoring global events is hilarious. This is further highlighted by the fact the price fell to $95 prices are still high and it didn't drop because of Lord Biden pulling a lever.

No wonder bad Vlad schedules a MAC opponent in sanctioning Biden (notoriously of modest means) and Clinton (the human Vlad HATES the most)

If you were getting your ass kicked in Ukraine wouldn't YOU change the subject??

"The last week has seen a marked change in tactics from the Russian military as the scope of the war in Ukraine has widened.

Advanced weapons, especially man-portable anti-tank and air defence systems, as well as small arms and ammunition, have been pouring into Ukraine.

These have made a significant impact on the battlefield as Russian tanks, armoured vehicles, supply trucks and helicopters have repeatedly been targeted and destroyed.

These attacks have helped slow Russia’s advance as it continues its drive into the country from three directions – from the north towards the capital Kyiv; from the east with a focus on besieging Kharkiv and Mariupol; and from the south, where Russian units, having taken Kherson, have crossed the Dnieper River in two places and are now advancing along both sides of it, as well as pressuring the city of Mykolaiv and the Ukrainian defences near the city of Zaporizhzhia.

There was part of one post of mine that put blame on biden.

“Biden and his administration have clearly made gas and oil persona non gratta. There is a huge push to over-regulate, tax, and disincentive oil and gas production. Further, the push to go "green" has been shortsighted on biden's part. Right now, we can't have a push to be "green" AND have cheap gas and fuel. For now, they are very much mutually exclusive.”

That’s hardly a questionable or controversial statement.

Stopping russian oil imports, nancy pelosi (one of the key indicators there for you there to pick up on it NOT being about biden was the term “her”), discussing the amount of oil we import from russia, etc. isn’t blaming biden. It’s part of a discussion on…on a board…for discussion.

I have said, multiple times though, that russia and putin are part of the reason gas prices are high.

Maybe you just need to take a deep breath and read a bit better.

Radical leftist GW? Secret texan Barry?

Were you born yesterday or did your get these hot takes from your insulated bubble of fellow mouth breathers? Those who weren’t born in the last month saw the trend before world events. It was world events that demonstrated the vulnerability and risks of the policies of our current administration. Maybe you were in the tiktok propaganda session with Jen to learn all of this?

The issue isn't the source, like I said it's the lack of context and critical thought. Comes across like most dumb woke drivel where if you peel back one layer of the onion you realize it's rotten.

In a nut shell--
Yemen:
-A civil war within one country
-A proxy war between different Muslim groups and supporting countries
-Iran backs rebels, so those against Iran supported the government because they want to curb Iranian influence
-Nobody involved has nukes
-Does not affect the world economy
-"NATO backed" means coalition people giving intelligence and logistical support to the President of the country because they don't want to see it collapse and displace tens of millions of people // be run by terrorists. "NATO backed" does not mean NATO is murdering thousands of civilians, even though that's what the insane militant European communist you linked wants you to believe
-Multiple factions in the civil war causing collateral damage and deaths to civilians in their own country

Ukraine:
-A superpower invaded a neighbor to take their land
-Not a proxy war or insurgency; not a civil war
-No terrorism component
-Russia has lots of nukes which is the #1 thing that makes this a powder keg... this is the first time a super power with nukes has tried something like this and dared people to stop them
-Has a potentially large impact on the world economy because of energy dependence on Russia
-There is no fun with words to make it sound like "backing" means more than it does... Russia is literally the only committing war crimes, and they're doing it all themselves in broad daylight

God bless, do less.

Like maybe if you find yourself on the same side of an argument as a crazy, radical communist you should consider whether or not they're making sense. You should also be asking yourself how/why you found that screenshot where you did, and what narrative that group wants to push.

But if you want to pretend a civil war in Yemen == Russia invading Ukraine then that's your prerogative. They have virtually nothing in common, except for innocent people dying.

Exactly. NATO could be doing more in Yemen. That tweet wants you to believe that NATO is indiscriminately murdering people in a far away land... when in reality, it's just a civil war where the loss of life is tragic but has virtually nothing to do with anyone but the Saudi backed President and Iran backed rebels.

Idk what NATO should be doing in a country thousands of miles from any member of NATO with zero strategic value.

What's happening there is awful, and I'd have no problem with NATO countries deciding to do something about Yemen, their status as being a member of NATO should have nothing to do with it.

To be clear, "NATO" isn't actually doing anything in Yemen. A couple NATO countries have given logistical support to the government there to try to prevent collapse of the country and an even worse humanitarian crisis.

The argument for NATO doing more is that they would wipe out the rebels in a matter of days if they wanted to. They don't, because like you said, they aren't going to embroil themselves in shit like this for no reason. The countries that are offering some support to the Yemen government are doing so because Iran is supporting the rebels and they don't want to potential for a terrorist proxy state to pop up.
