1. Brian Kelly is the one who said "imminent," not the University.
2. Kelly said decisions were imminent. As far as we know, decisions could have been made Tuesday afternoon.

Brian Kelly works for the university. I'm sure he had approval to say that the decisions were imminent. Otherwise he would have kept with the same lines as before.

My first exposure to grits when I was 6 in 1959 and the family was moving from NY to FL. No interstate highways then. A family of 7 in a Mercury station wagon (my little sister was 1). Four days on the road.

Once south of NJ we were served grits at breakfast whether asked for or not. Cocoa Krispies with a side of corn mush that had the consistency of a handball. Yum! You could bounce a spoon off of them as though they were a tom-tom in a drum kit. The tone was closer to a kettle drum.

Years later a slept at a high school friend's house. His mother was a fine Southern Lady and there were grits with the bacon, eggs and toast. I made the impolitic comment that "the grits seemed soupy."

With a large slab of butter, some salt and a little pepper they were delicious.

On to corn bread. Soft, fluffy and sweet à la New England or chewy and not sweet as in Southern cornbread?

More random crap to keep us occupied:

My brother in law works at a radio station in So. Cal. and they have been doing an experiment for the last 3 months. They bought a Taco Bell waffle breakfast taco and have left it sitting out this entire time...the damned thing hasn't grown mold or anything.

Taco Bell is the absolute worst... especially for us west coasters that have other Mex fast food options like Del Taco...

Why not just go get real tacos?

I agree totally, I mean I'm like THE Carne Asada, SD Mexican, champion of this board... I'm just sayin, if you're gonna get cheap, fast food, American style stuff there are better options out here.

Honestly, Taco Bell is the worst major fast food chain in the country imo.

Both? If I'm in a pinch and can't get something fresh, my go-to side with a pot of chili or stew is Jiffy corn muffin mix made with a long pour of honey mixed into the batter, then baked in one of these bad boys greased with a fair helping of butter.

No shit. The crunchwrap supreme exists.

Also, if you get your crunchwrap supreme with anything other than Baja Blast, you're a communist.

To Jeb's point... I have never touched that crunchwrap 'thing'... but I'll assume it's about the same price as these at most mom and pop mex places...

I'm not proud of it, but I love chili cheese burritos from Taco Bell.

But then I always feel terrible, both physically and emotionally, whenever I break down and get some.

Man, wish they had other options likes this around my way. They just closed the Roscoe Taco not too far from my house, now it's only Taco Hell.

Oh man... We used to joke about how awful Roscoe's Tacos were as kids. I can't believe that place made it that long!

Also, I still can't believe how this thread has broken down into the talk about whatever the **** you want thread lol

Most of my family from the Midwest and such know Mexican only through Taco Bell and Cheys and MAYBE Chipotole... while the last two are far better than TB all three pretty much suck. (I feel for them as I feel it's the best food on the planet when done right)

With that said Del Taco isn't anything special, it's basically an edible version of Taco Bell.

Phoenix is surprisingly a very bad city for Mexican food. It is really, really hard to find a good authentic Mexican place in AZ, other than this place called Los Dos Molinos.

While San Diego has the best tacos, southern Arizona has some damn fine mexican food especially tacos. Plus we have Sonoran Hot Dogs

You need to come down to Tucson then. Lots of good Mexican food places.

I have seriously contemplated a vacation to this one place in mexico just for their tacos.

Got to be really careful with travel to Mexico. What town were you considering? The areas near the border are absolute shit. Tijuana is a good place to get grabbed up and wind up in a Mexican jail, the gang war violence is off the charts from their Narco Drug Lord bullshit and if you go too far south or east the tacos aren't really the same; it's a regional thing.

If you want to play it safe, San Diego. If danger is your middle name, head down the coast of the baja to Rosarito.

Del Taco is pure s-hit IMO. It is no different than White Castle, Jack in the Box, etc. Regionalized crap locals think is better than the other national chains simply because it's in their city.

I was mostly joking. My personal favorite Mexican food is in Hilton Head, SC of all places.

Fiesta Fresh Mexican Restaurants

This is my local place in CT. The picture doesn't do it justice but it's really quite good (though pricey).

They make this dipping sauce... I have no idea what it is but it tastes like jalepenos pureed with some kind of sour cream.

We actually have some pretty good Mexican restaurants in Indy. But nothing fast food. E. and W. Washington St. (the street that runs down the middle of downtown) has the best, lil' Mexicos of the city.

I agree in the Sonoran hot dogs. There was a family that would set up in a parking lot every weekend that made the best one I've ever had.
