Rumored Violations

I've been hesitant to post this since the latest "rumored" news has been positive but I am posting to see if anyone else close to the program has heard this and can maybe confirm or deny...

Last week my nephew's roommate said his father in on the investigation committe and that this goes back through former players and is pretty deep. I passed it off as a student trying to act like he has an "in" to make himself appear important (kid just strikes me that way).

Today, an alum and former professor said that at least 20 current and former football players are involved in sex for papers. This source is much more credible.

Not sure where to go from here but hoping some IE posters with inside contacts can verify or disprove these comments.

Seems like Daniels and Kevaire are the ones to be cleared. The other two are a bit muddled.

Maybe this is already posted, not going to read the thread, but that a girl was requested by players to read over their papers.
The university grilled her for information and she stood what she said in that she only helped them grammatically and spelling wise. The players wrote their own papers and just had them revised by this girl. Apparently, some of the emails in DDs account were misunderstood like " I need help with this paper" and taken as he was cheating. His father nor himself was not happy about it.

Its possible, with the one player that is in trouble, he did have her write the paper and thats what started all this. She was connected to the other players so the worse was assumed and boom, the sky falls.

I felt like I've heard a lot of this before. Hope it's true, and would be a major sigh of relief.

If these players were accused base on an email that simply stated "I need help on this paper", then somebody in that admin needs to be fired immediately. That is bull**** of the highest order.

IDK **** about the sex for papers rumor or where that started or if any part of it is true, but whatever that is, that's separate from the investigation going on IMO.

Possible two incidents, one's being investigated, the other has been lumped in by fans. Just my feeling.

My guess is there was a running joke Keivare was trading sex for papers and when people would ask for corrections they'd make a sexual comment. Joke got lost on the initial read of the emails and someone leaked that.

I don't see how the papers and sex are even related? You can't prove anything unless there was an explicit agreement between the two parties stating the exchange of services. People use each other all the time. Student tutors bang out their classmates on a daily basis. In retrospect, I was often able to slack off a bit in college because I used to hook up with an overachiever in my work group. Should I have been expelled too?

1. That scenario is highly implausible. I can't imagine someone who is smart enough to be a student tutor at Notre Dame explicitly asking to be laid over University e-mail. If that's true, perhaps I overestimated the common sense of ND students.

I've tried not to post too much "definitive" information because any and all of it could be wrong, but I want to add on to this.

To clarify... there are no other current players involved, I'm 99.99% sure of that... only way someone else would be is if they got something brand new they don't currently have.

The "20 players" thing isn't wrong but people need to be much more clear with how they phrase that... we're talking about 4 current players and then a whole bunch people who are long gone from the university.

The "sex for papers" thing is quasi-bull**** because that's not how this is being reviewed (at least per what I was told). There is no way to PROVE a quid pro quo trade of "I will write you this paper if and only if you give me the dick." Just think about that for a second and how impossible that would be to "prove" in any sort of way. So yeah, the one person at the 'heart' of all this was banging a bunch of people and also apparently cheating but from what I've been told the honor code violations are being considered on their own merit.

Everything I have heard is that the probe is very widespread now and has gone a lot deeper than just considering the information that was first brought to them. Whether this was overzealous or simply prudent is up for debate. But we're not just talking about the girl and football, there are other sports and other **** that is being looked at. I have no clue what all they have or have not found.

So in short what you've posted is almost entirely accurate, but we've also known the gist of this since Day 1. IMO the biggest issue at hand are the douchebags on other boards who don't have good sources but are trying to represent that they do and are posting inaccurate dribble that is muddling the situation.

Right now people should be expecting wins to be vacated, and I'm just really not sure on the player statuses. But as of last week really well placed people did not represent that anything in this case is 100% done.

We shouldn't be vacating wins, and I'm not entirely sure we will, but from what I was told some people within ND recommended or are advocating it. I don't think everyone is necessarily on board with this idea though... the misguided concept seems to be that if we voluntarily vacate a bunch of wins it'll show that we're taking it all super seriously and then it'll all be put to bed. In reality, I think a mistake like this will cause this "scandal" to live on forever when otehrwise no one would care in two years time.

If there is one thing I am sure of its that very few people actually know for sure what decisions have or have not been made.

So essentially, the vacating wins is being suggested in a "what-if" situation, in the case that these players are deemed guilty? That's a little better, but A) They're kinda jumping the gun a bit, and B) Do these guys read the NCAA rules and regulations? I mean, I know nobody down South does, but that's usually to BEND the rules, not make them more stringent. These rule junkies put Air Traffic Controllers to shame.

The thing that makes me worry this is more widespread: These are four guys in three different classes. One of them has already graduated and one of them was off campus in the spring. All have been there since at least 2012, which is the only year anyone would care about vacating wins. All that would suggest something that was happening at least last fall - which could easily rope in former players.
And I certainly don't claim to know much about the social dynamics of the football team, but these guys are all different position groups (which are often social groups, too). Are Ishaq Williams and K Russell tight enough that Russell's hooking Ishaq up with his girlfriend with proofread papers? I've no idea. But the rumors of some widespread longstanding thing going on here would seem to have at least a little smoke to them, especially with the president of the university talking openly about vacating wins.
As others have said, I hope this is all a big misunderstanding, with Russell and Daniels and Williams cleared and Moore getting slapped on the wrist so he can be back to decleating people on kickoffs by the Stanford game. The fact that they're apparently still on the team/on campus would point in the direction of a good resolution here. But history has taught me to fear the worst. We'll see.
