Agree with all the points above. That said, here's our rankings last year.

PASSING YARDS 254.8 40th Overall

RUSHING YARDS 151.0 82nd Overall

POINTS FOR 27.2 75th Overall

POINTS AGAINST 22.4 27th Overall

Still somewhat close to a top 25 Defense. Pts for is horrendous although TR at 40th is not uber bad. Rushing is ugly.....

Not specifically speaking to you, but why is this discussion in this thread?

At an intersection and trying to catch up. So jimmymac's the one who did the papers so he could bang players?

Now the naked lap is kind of weird.

2012
PASSING YARDS 222.8 72nd Overall

RUSHING YARDS 189.4 0 38th Overall

POINTS FOR 25.8 80th Overall

POINTS AGAINST 12.8 2nd Scored

2nd Best Points Allowed in the Nation and includes allowing 42 by Alabama.

The '12 Points For was worse than '13's "horrendous" to borrow your description. Passing was 72nd.

In '12 Kelly didn't have to rely on Golson's arm because there was a shutdown defense and he had the luxury of Rees off the bench.

In '13 Kelly HAD to rely on Rees arm as there was no closer in the bullpen and the was no longer dominating.

Sounds like a Koon scenario if I ever heard one, I figure you would support this.

On the contrary, I wonder if they may just sit them against Rice and then announce their findings on the investigation the Monday after. There will be a lot of hoopla around the Michigan game, it might go over easier if they're snuck back in during Michigan week...I mean, that's what most schools do, right? They hold players out until the first big game.

The 4 guys that are out won't necessarily be needed against Rice. This may be a good opportunity to give our younger players some legitimate playing time as DD, KVR, and even Ishaaq all have decent experience.

I'd be surprised if they aren't reinstated by Michigan week, but hopefully they're brought back next week before Rice. If it drags through the Michigan week....I would expect pretty bad news to be coming.

If they're reinstated for scUM yo uknow the haters will have a field day, much like when an SEC team suspends a player until the first big game. The best way to handle this strictly from a PR angle, would be to clear them before Rice, but not play them until scUM.

Just my opinion, but leaving them out of the team photo would be a big sign. They're allowed to be around the team, and your team photo is a keepsake you have forever.

Not arguing anything. Looking at our performance last year. Pointing out that the D last year wasn't all that bad. Also pointing out that we need to run the damn ball better. I do think having a DT QB who can throw deeper and run should help open up the running game a bit. Opponent's Ds will not be able to pin their ears back.

Well since we have the email addresses of the committee, we should bombard them with emails telling them to get off their lazy asses and fix this so we can get on to more important things like football!

The running backs weren't much different with a DT or DB. Golson ran for 25 YPG a sizeable edge over Rees negative yardage. The RBs by themselves weren't much different in YPG whether the the D could pin their ears back or not. The big difference with the RBs will be the experience factor. Folston and Bryant don't have to mental help on an audible now. It's automatic. They knew how to read coverage now and how to pick up the blitzer.

Yep, and I would say the experience factor is relevant to EG as well. I'd also say that most were probably not afraid of EG in 2012. I think opponents will game plan a lot differently this year.

DSKJFOIWEFJOWEIJFOIJESDWF!

I quit this thread. Why do people keep saying "surely" ND will do this and that, or "there's no way" ND will do this or that when the procedure for this kind of thing is well-documented and leads to absolutely no "surely" or "no way" or "absolutely" conclusions whatsoever. There's a very specific way these things are handled. It probably can't start until students arrive, and then it takes at least a few days from then. Maybe it'll be resolved by Rice. Maybe not.

A couple of other points: If we hear a decision is on the way very soon (like today), then it might be a good sign. The case can be dismissed during the investigation before ever going to committee if there is insufficient evidence to warrant a full hearing. The longer it takes, the more likely it is that it's going through the full honor committee hearing process (i.e. bad news). Also, people shouldn't count on the fact that the honor committee being half students works in the team's favor. Those kids are likely to be hardcore and I wouldn't be surprised if some of them harbor the same resentment for the football program that many in the administration do.
