So what has happened since Saturday? I've been without internet. If someone could PM me the details it'd be greatly appreciated!

Absolutely nothing. I am still waiting on the 2-3 players to be announced that they are reinstated from all the insiders claiming they have a for sure thing. I guess Notre Dame could announce it in the next 15mins before it is Tuesday, but I am not going to hold me breath.

What would've been awesome is if Koon's dog was named "Fuck Michigan", and he just walked around the neighborhood shouting it at the top of his lungs. I'm actually surprised that's not the case.

Columbus native here. He would be cited for profanity then would have to walk around the neighborhood just shouting "Fuck!"

So catching up, koon lost his dog that had ran away and turned out to be the one that slept with the players and wrote papers at Memphis causing wins for the basketball team to be vacated while Colonel Mustard Shot JFK at the Ford Theatre???

Re: FERPA and telling parents. If they're not going to tell parents, they shouldn't have named the kids at the press conference. I get why Philip Daniels is ticked off.

I want to believe, but if "2 players [have] already been cleared," then why weren't they at practice today? If we're interpreting this in a realistic but still optimistic way, I'd suggest that two players may have been interviewed already, and based on the evidence to date, things are looking good for them. Perhaps a 3rd was interviewed today, thereby advancing the resolution of his status.

Hopefully the investigators will be able to clear some of these guys before Rice, but I wouldn't be surprised if they refused to make anything public until the whole thing is complete.

I agree with this. I really wanted to jump on the original rumors that 2-3 were cleared over the weekend, but it didn't seem realistic. There's still a bit more digging to do. I do think that it looks good for us to get back at the very least a few of those guys. Let's hope this happens sooner rather than later. This can't progress into the season. It would be just a huge distraction.

It's going to progress into the season even if they conclude tomorrow. There's only 12 days to Rice. Do you really think it's just going to disappear by then? Just wait until first game on ESPN.

I am pretty sure that Alford and Daniels talked. He is upset because BK didn't call him.

Exactly. This will be a story line that lasts all season no matter the outcome. The media has their storyline and they will run with it and turn in into whatever they feel will grab headlines, no matter the outcome of the investigation.

How's that? Once they start playing the games, there'll be more interesting things to talk about.
If they're cleared before Rice, it'll be old news a week or two into the season. If they're tossed before Rice, it'll still be old news a week or two into the season, it's just that we might lose a couple more than otherwise. Only way it drags on is if the investigation drags out and keeps these guys in limbo, or if it widens to include more players or the involvement of the program itself.

Wanna make a bet it gets mentioned during every telecast of a ND game?

Because the media hates us and will use this to get clicks, sell papers, and get people to tune in when they get someone to say "Notre Dame acquitted cheaters hate why they're doing so well" or " Notre dame is irrelevant losers because they jumped the gun and expelled their talent for something silly which is why we should never talk about them again". We will get riled up on the board and the slews of ND haters will get pumped up and think they are so cool like the steroid guy at the gym who thinks because he can bench so much that he's beating you in the life competiton even though he's an idiot. ND hating gets attention and they're gonna use it no matter what this season. My personal solution is get my college football news from here so that way I know what I'm reading wasnt put out there by an ND hating moron! :)

Sure. If we lose three starters, including a potential All-American, it's going to get mentioned in the context of the impact it has on the field. Just like Everett Golson's suspension came up quite a bit last year. But that's different than "turning a storyline into whatever they feel will grab headlines, no matter the outcome..."
I'd be very surprised if by, say, the Stanford game, we're still talking about Notre Dame "under the cloud of a cheating scandal..."

I mean for these players in general. The speculation will continue, but if these guys aren't either on the field or off the team by Michigan, it will only make ND's admin look more incompetent. This whole process has been one big joke.

Agreed and the way it seems to be trending, that isn't likely to happen. The most I see happening is the typical ND haters pointing fingers and ignorantly claiming we covered up this BS, which isn't the case. I don't imagine this process taking longer than 2 weeks. If it does and those players miss time because they were in "limbo", then the admin will be in hotter water than they are now.

Only way that happens is if the investigation is still going on, and the players are still in "limbo", which by then, I'd be expecting somebody to get fired. They're lucky that South Bend is not a very big college town, otherwise I'd be calling for an angry mob. I should probably get my ceremonial torch and pitchfork.

It isn't any argument anyone will win until after the season is over, but my belief is that this will be mentioned throughout the season in some form or fashion. Obviously certain outcomes will make it a bigger story than others, but it will be talked about either way. I certainly hope I am wrong and these players get cleared of any wrongdoing, or whatever the outcome and the story is squashed at that point. However, I would be very surprised if that were the case.

Trying to start the day out on a positive note - if ND admin dislikes the football program so much, why would they put the money into field turf and approve the construction of the stadium and center the 'student center' there? Hopefully those Monday rumors become true today or later in the week, until then...Fuck Michigan.

I'm not sure that the entire investigation will be finished by Rice, but I think a decision on the players will be. I think that comes early next week.

P.S. Fuck Michigan

Fortuna said students arrive this coming weekend, and apparently the 'trust committee/board' (not sure on that wording) is made up of students?

And he speculated that they might have to hear the case? IDK if true or not, but if the fate of our ND football players are in the students's hands, I like our odds.

Love the wording the espn fucks use: 'scandal' and 'ND being investigated'. Not true, nd is investigating themselves.

As long as they like football. There are a lot of students that don't care about athletics.

And that is most likely who the trust committee is made up of. I imagine individuals that are part of this would be pretty stringent on issues like this because they probably take their studies very seriously themselves.

I can't relisten to the interview but that's what I thought I heard. Even if they don't they're going to lean towards leniency. You don't want to be known as the guy who held the players off of the team around ND.
