Talk about a blown up created celebrity. Really isnt even anything to look at. Was in all the magazines and talking movies at really just a little above average looks wise.

Clearly didnt take this fight very seriously and it cost her. Compare the physical shape of the two women and Rousey looked chunky.

Cyborg would have crushed her and she knew it. Of course, cyborg isnt actually female either.

Your hindsight is 20/15 lol. Surprised you didn't enlighten us with all of this insight a month ago.

Holly is a wayyyy better striker than Cyborg. Honestly a Ronda Cyborg fight would be much closer than this fight.

All those dummies online saying that Ronda could beat mayweather can shut up now. That would be an execution.

I would put a weeks pay on Ronda and 2 on holly.
That was not a boxing match it was a mma match. Distance is way different. Holly would leg kick the shit out of money. Hell he might not take 5 kicks. Never had too

The scuffle at the weight in and the disrespect by not shaking her hand...not so pretty in hindsight.

Wingman Rey: I completely disagree.

Holms fought well.

Rousey had a bad fight.

She's still the best in the sport.

You might could say that if Holm hit her with a lucky punch. But this was a complete beat down by Holm. She dominated Rousey and showed a far superior skill set.

Holm threw a left that looked like Rocky Marciano's. The fist struck Rousey on the chin then the big blow, the following forearm and elbow bashing across the face. Two devastating blows, milliseconds apart.

Rousey landed some hits but seemed to take more punishment in return. Rousey make a bull rush a one point and Holm deftly stepped aside as Rousey ran into the barrier. Check the close up of Rousey's face and as she turned her head with a "where the hell did she go look?" She was beaten.

No I'm a Holms fan.

I disagreed with Rey regarding Rousey not being an elite fighter.

Holly has been beating people up for well over a decade. She's new to the UFC. She's a veteran in competitive fighting.

Holly needs to beat her twice to be top of the food chain.

Women's MMA is still in it's infancy. Her reign is very similar to Royce Gracie's when the UFC first started. With Royce, very few were familiar with BJJ, so he was able to exploit this.

With Rhonda, her level of Judo is something none of these other women can even train against. As time passes, and more women enter the sport, the holes in Rhonda's game will be exposed (eventually, someone will be able to wrestle her out of her Judo throws). When that time comes, she'll be beaten, because she is currently a 1 (or 2) trick pony. Her one trick is just better than everyone elses.

I posted that in March, and another post about wanting her to fight a bigger striker like Cyborg (yes, self pat on the back, I know. Sue me).

I didn't think Holm would win, mainly because I didn't think she'd have the power in her punches like Cyborg would to knock her out. Holm is a much better technical striker than Cyborg, but she isn't near as powerful.

Anyway, I go back to my point months earlier. Rousey is a great fighter, but she's also the beneficiary of the infancy of women's MMA. She got beat by another one-trick poney, but much more well-rounded defensively.

Mayweather would knock out either with one punch. The strength difference is incredible.

I don't follow MMA or whatever it is called, but let's not get carried away. No doubt she is the dominant fighter in the women's ranks, but they key here is women's ranks. I don't question her ability to kick some butt, however her competition is other women. The number of women doing this has to be considerably far less than the number of men, so her competition is going to be far less than in the men's ranks making it easier for her.

I get all of that. My point was simply that it is easier to dominate in the women's ranks than in the men's.

I am not a fighting expert by any means, but it seemed like experts felt grapplers would win against boxers most of the time. Most of the youtube videos show kickboxers losing against grappler/wrestlers/judo. That is why I was surprised at the outcome.

Rousey had dominated some of her other competition and I had never seen her walk into punches like she did in this fight. It was not even close, which makes me re-think the conventional wisdom of fighting styles and also whether Rousey was ever fighting decent competition to begin with.

I'm not a big Ronda supporter or anything. I think her run was impressive, but I'm wondering if she didn't throw the fight a bit. She previously made comments that she wanted to take time off after this fight. She appeared to come out with a striking mindset with her opponent through much of the fight, which would be a weird strategy for her since she thrives on submission. I just wonder if maybe there was some pressure to drop the belt prior to her break, or maybe they plan on capitalizing on her later return. I know it's very tinfoil hat, and she took a pretty bad beating to achieve this, but at the very least she definitely didn't look prepared and her team came out with a poor game plan for this one. Couldn't believe her corner was telling her she was doing well after that first round and to keep it up. I would have said "Whatever you're doing, just stop. It's not working." I haven't watched many of her fights, but everything seemed very off in this one.

You serious? Lmao come on.

Throwing the fight is getting edged out or taking a fall. Not getting rocked repeatedly on the feet and finished by a head kick followed up by hammer fists to your limp body.

This is laughable.

Take it easy, I'm not saying that's what happened, but you have to admit that everything felt very off about this fight. At the very least Rousey definitely didn't appear as sharp in comparison to her previous fights, she certainly didn't respect Holly or she just didn't train as hard. I seriously question what her trainer was thinking after that first round though. Rousey was getting destroyed, and he says "You're doing great, keep doing what you're doing." WTF, was he even watching the same fight?

That's because Edmond is an asshat. He's a shit coach and Ronda is his one accomplishment. He's a boxing coach, and nothing he taught her has played a role in any of her fights outside of Correira who is easily the worst fighter to ever fight for a UFC title.

She trained plenty hard. She had no answer on the feet. Her few years of training dont compare to Holly's career as an accomplished striker.

Maybe she was just over confident. She might have trained hard physically, but maybe the mental aspect wasn't there.

I think she's had a lot going on in her life outside the ring lately. Too many distractions, too much clutter, and she came into this fight without sufficient focus. She just looked off her game Saturday night and Holly was tailor-made to exploit Rousey's shortcomings. Rousey is a beast at grappling, but has never been particularly great at striking (and up until now has never had to be). Distracted, unfocused, and the wrong opponent added up to a bad night for her.

Holly Holm has been training with the best team in America since she was in her teens. Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque, NM. She is one of the best female boxers ever, as well as 10+ years of training in kickboxing, wrestling, and BJJ.

Ronda Rousey looks to bumrush girls who are under the bright lights for the 1st time in their life, get them in a position of panic, and look for an easy arm bar. Holly was able to use distance to perfection, keeping Ronda on the back foot, and making her eat a heavy left hand when she did come in. The one time they tied up, Ronda got her down, rolled for an arm bar, and Holly escaped easily. Holly was physically stronger, even getting her down once before getting right back up and going back to work on the feet.

The one trick pony was outclassed, and the hype train was derailed. Give Holm her props.

I fully expected Rousey to win. Wasn't the hype but her skillset. Lets not forget that she also holds a bronze medal in judo from the 2008 olympics.
A striker was always gonna give her problems, and Holly is a very good striker, but I didn't think she had the power to finish. Also her love of the left leg head kick I thought would be her undoing. Figured Rousey would know it was coming and try to time it for a catch.
Good for womens MMA that Rousey lost, horrible for the UFC what with the #RouseyRevolution and the fact that she is probably their biggest star on a level we haven't seen yet.

That whole #RouseyRevolution was a crock of shit. Trying to take little girl's abilities and chalk it up to Ronda Rousey.
