When I was a little tike, Saturday westerns were very big. Hopalong Cassidy was on along with Sky King, Roy Rogers, The Texas Rangers, Zoro and many more.

RIP Cowboy

Rogers and Dale Evans spent their later years in my hometown. They had a museum just down the road from where I grew up that closed shortly after Evans passed.

As you know I'm a bit younger, but that stuff was still on while I was tike. Don't forget the Long Ranger and Rawhide.

I wasn't allowed to watch porn when I was little. lol

Rawhide, Bonanza, Wagon Train all were prime time shows IIRC. There was also The Rebel, Maverick, Cheyenne, Wyatt Earp, Branded and Chuck Conner as, "The Rifleman".

A quick google said there were over 100 westerns on TV during the 50's and 60's.

I got the reruns lol. I remember wanting to stay up later in the late 70s to catch Rowdy Yates on CH20 (or maybe it was 40).

Lol on the long ranger.Good catch.

I googled and there is actually a movie with that name. Are you slipping up and announcing some of your favorite retro inventory?

Sid Haig died on September 21. Surprised no one caught that. Did a lot of what used to be called "B" movies. Dude was 80. Would have never guessed that. RIP Sid.

I recognize him from House of 1000 Corpses, but when you look back at his IMDB it's like...wow. Dude was in just about everything.

Sid was awesome. Loved his Captain Spaulding character (Rob Zombie movies). I think they are getting ready to release the 3rd in the series. Didn't realize he was that old.

RIP Sid.

British drumming legend and Cream co-founder Ginger Baker passed away this morning at the age of 80. He was immensely talented and widely regarded as one of the top few drummers in rock history, but also had a reputation for being almost impossible to get along with. Often violent and angry, he tended to alienate family and bandmates throughout his life and seemed to have a strained relationship at best with pretty much everyone he knew.

His family had reported about a week ago that he was hospitalized in critical condition. Years of heavy smoking and substance abuse (he'd been a long time heroin addict) certainly didn't help. No cause of death has been given yet, but he'd had COPD and serious heart issues in recent years and it's likely that his death is related to those problems.

The man was a legend. Going back to my teens I remember hearing a story the he had heart issues back in 60’s. He was told that if he continued to play like he did he would give himself a heart attack. Dude proved the doctors wrong.

RIP Ginger and thanks for Cream. You as well Eric and Jack.

Yeah, his drumming was extraordinary and unique. Sort of an angry, mad genius who had a huge influence on generations of rock drummers.

Robert Forster, Oscar nominated actor, has passed away from brain cancer at the age of 78. Forster has appeared in several TV shows and more than 100 movies, but is perhaps best know from his role in Breaking Bad as Ed, the guy who owns the vacuum repair shop that serves as a front for his business of getting people a new identity and life.

Yikes. I said to my woman this morning (while she was watching El Camino at 5am), "HEy, that guys died, how long have they been shooting this movie?". She's gonna freak. She's already worried that I'm some sorta warlock because of some weird stuff friends have told her about my family. (LOOOONG story worthy of a thread in the off season but maybe too strange to share on the other hand.)

Anyways, rest in peace Mr Forster.

Little Feat guitarist Paul Barrere died yesterday at the age of 71. No cause of death has been given, but he's been battling liver cancer for the past few years and missed the band's current tour due to health issues. I've been a Little Feat fan since my high school days in the 70's and got to see them when they played at Bama during homecoming weekend my freshman year.

Dang, he gave us fits back in the day. He was part of that losing streak where we couldn't get a win against MSU there for a bit. Hate to see this though, gone too soon. RIP.

Actor Danny Aiello passed away today at the age of 86. I had no idea he was that old. He was in Moonstruck, Do The Right Thing (got a best supporting actor Oscar nomination), The Godfather Part II, Once Upon A Time In America, and played Madonna's dad in the video for Papa Don't Preach. Great character actor.

I almost never read the obits and I have no fascination with death or celebrities. For some reason my news feed sends me all the celeb obits, so I get to be the IE ghoul. :)
