REES = Turnovers, Turnovers, Turnovers!!!
REES = Turnovers, Turnovers, Turnovers!!!
Well, I posted a topic earlier, but it either did not load or got deleted. Here we go again. All you Rees supporters can reply and tell me your 6-1 story. I heard it from Kelly earlier today. Here is the reality, Rees may have a record of 6-1, but HE is not the reason for that record.
At USC, we won because the defense bailed him out repeatedly. The kid threw multiple BAD INT's.
In the Sun Bowl, we won because our Defense got multiple turnovers early. This allowed us a big lead. Rees actually looked pretty bad in the second half of this game. He also underthrew Floyd badly, but Mike saved him on one long pass.
In the Tulsa game, TOMMY threw the game losing pass. HORRIBLE decision. I would chalk it up to being a fresman who will learn, however he has NOT learned. He made a similar bad throw at the Michigan game and again yesterday. That is almost a season into him starting.
The trouble I have with his INT's is the fact that almost every single one is not a matter of a DB making a great play. It is totally Tommy making a TERRIBLE decision!!!! Are these decisions getting less frequent? Absolutely NOT!!! Are these decisions getting better. Absolutely NOT!!!
Even the passes he is completing at times are bad decisions. Go back and watch the pass to Eiffert for a TD yesterday. That was a bad decision. He was less than a split second from being intercepted AGAIN on a scoring drive. On another drive, he threw a pass in the flat that should have been intercepted for a pick 6.
I listened to the BK press conference today. He talked about how Tommy put together what should have been a game winning drive at UM. I challenge that with the fact that drive would not have been necessary had our QB not thrown into triple coverage trying to force Floyd the ball earlier in the game at the goal line. Had our QB not fumbled inside the 5 yard line, we would have put points on the board. Had our QB not throw another bad INT on 3rd down earlier in the game while we were driving. All those plays are on TOMMY!! I would say he left atleast 13 points on the field with bad decisions.
I am sorry folks, but ND is trying to win with a MAC level QB. I will also say we are already approaching this kids ceiling. He might show SOME improvement on decisions, however, he will never become a runner, never have a downfield arm and never thrive without Floyd.
Sorry Folks to be a downer, but our offense is going to get figured out real quick. If I am a D coordinator, I would double Floyd all day, drop 7-8 into short coverage and challenge Rees to go vertical or run. Running and Vertical passes are nothing he is capable of doing unless he can get a jump ball to Floyd.
