Listened to Miami Herald reporter Armando Salguero on Clay Travis this morning. He covers a couple of interviews with Colin Kapernick in which he tries t explain away a t-shirt he's wearing that has Fidel Castro and Malcom X on the front. He says it's about Malcom X then goes on to tell everyone why Castro and Cuba is so great. The podcast is worth listening to.

He also points out how Kapernick went on a Twitter rant on July 4 telling everyone how bad the U.S. is and is geared to making the rich richer. Then a few days later signs a deal with corporate giant Disney.

A part of the interview is below.

Listen to him the rich get rich haha piece of garbage.

Kap is just a completely demoralized marxist tool. All this race and oppression stuff is just his cover. May not even matter now however, pretty clear which way the water flows on this in terms of perception and coverage etc,...

This.

And If I ever hear Lebron talk about SJ issues after shaming folks for speaking out against China's human rights abuses, I'll F'ing puke. And F the NBA too for being total hypocrites on the topic.

To be fair, he's on par with other high school grads on education...

No rest for the Reps in ousting racist candidates.

House Republican leaders condemn GOP candidate who made racist videos
The candidate, Marjorie Taylor Greene, finished first in last week’s primary for an open, safe GOP seat in Georgia but still faces an August runoff.
(Politico)

The House’s highest-ranking Republicans are racing to distance themselves from a leading GOP congressional candidate in Georgia after POLITICO uncovered hours of Facebook videos in which she expresses racist, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic views.

The candidate, Marjorie Taylor Greene, suggested that Muslims do not belong in government; thinks black people “are held slaves to the Democratic Party”; called George Soros, a Jewish Democratic megadonor, a Nazi; and said she would feel “proud” to see a Confederate monument if she were black because it symbolizes progress made since the Civil War.

Greene finished first in a primary for a deep-red, northwest Georgia seat last week by a nearly 2-to-1 margin over the second-place candidate. She is entering an August runoff as the favorite to secure the Republican nomination for a district where that is tantamount to winning the general election in November. Her initial victory — which has sparked panic in GOP circles — comes as Republicans are grappling with a national reckoning over racial injustice and police brutality after George Floyd, an unarmed black man, was killed by a Minneapolis police officer last month.(cont)

“These comments are appalling, and Leader McCarthy has no tolerance for them,” said Drew Florio, a spokesman for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) went further, throwing his weight behind Greene’s opponent.

“The comments made by Ms. Greene are disgusting and don’t reflect the values of equality and decency that make our country great,” Scalise said in a statement. “I will be supporting Dr. Cowan.”

In recordings obtained by POLITICO, Greene described Islamic nations under Sharia law as places where men have sex with "little boys, little girls, multiple women" and "marry their sisters" and "their cousins." She suggested the 2018 midterms — which ushered in the most diverse class of House freshmen — was part of “an Islamic invasion of our government” and that “anyone that is a Muslim that believes in Sharia law does not belong in our government.”
Almost all the votes for other candidates would have to be for her opponent in the GA runoff for her to be defeated. She is backed by Jim Jordan, the House Freedom Fund, and others. The party may well have another Steve King on their hands.

I don't know anything about Taylor Greene, haven't read up on her yet, but she's not wrong about what's allowed in the Islamic faith. They allow underage women to be married off to older men, it's not frowned on to marry one's cousin (And in some cases it's encouraged), and you can marry your sister as long as marriage is not involved between the father and both mothers. So, a man and a woman in marriage conceive a son. If that man has relations with another woman and conceives a daughter, the half son and daughter can wed even though they share the same father. It's all pretty messed up.

Nick Cannon makes a disparaging comment about Jews and gets hammered. In his apology, he says he wasn't aware of what the Jewish nation suffered during WWII. WTF Nick? You sleep through HS History class? You never see or read the news?

She is going to win - sounds like a fighter. People are tired of PC culture and nothing she said was without merit. Sounds like a nice Yin to Omar's Yang.

Saw "Refund the Police" was trending on Twitter this morning. A woman trying to fight the Marxist side of BLM tried to paint over the mural in front of Trump Tower, while shouting "Refund the Police" along with "Jesus matters" and calling out BLM and Deblasio as liars and that they don't care about black people. Meanwhile police are trying to pull her away from spreading the paint over the mural, one falls down and gets injured. It's all a bit mixed up, but I'm all in favor of the boys in blue keeping their funds and instead receiving extra oversight and training. Pretty crazy video though.

Also trending on Twitter this morning: Ron Swanson, Al Bundy, and Hank Hill. Cancel culture wants all three forgotten about because they think fictional characters would have voted for Trump. Then there's other liberals defending the characters to the death, coming up with examples why they wouldn't vote for Trump because they love the characters/shows. People really will convince themselves of anything if it suits their agenda, but honestly the whole thing is really stupid. Someone just needs to cancel the Canceled movement.

Went through twitter (probably different tweets get shown to me based on the algorithm) but it seems like it's just a bunch of people creating pointless fan fiction either way. You're totally right, dreaming up scenarios about tv character is ridiculous.

I also saw that the NYT was started by slave owners. The cancel culture culprit (The New York Times) needs canceled and then that dumb culture needs abolished.

That's a stupid waste of time fighting over Al Bundy and Hank Hill and such. What difference will it make??? It's just taking our focus off the real problem: Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd and their culture of gun violence!

McWhorter makes several excellent points. Lot of common sense truth in his article. BTW, I've been a huge fan of his work in linguistics for years. He's brilliant, but has that rare ability to make what he does seem simple and easy to understand, and very interesting. I've listened to all his series of lectures on language and can't say enough good stuff about them. I recommended them in another thread a few years ago. Anyway, very good article and thanks for sharing it.

One of the most problematic issues with most discussions revolving around “race” in my opinion are the attempts to disassociate it completely from class. Piss poor Americans of all ethnicities have much more in common than what is often presented.

Bingo. Whenever you see Apple, Goldman Sachs, et al. boosting a popular cause, you can rest assured: (1) that it doesn't actually threaten the status quo; and (2) that it's being used to divide and distract.
