Understood…..do you think that maybe Deion is getting more attention because maybe that‘s what he wants? In addition, he was a polarizing player because of his “style” of confidence, I think that comes into play here as well. The more attention that you crave, it will bring positive as well as negative. Riley appears to be pretty confident (cocky) as well but maybe a bit more understated. That in itself will garner less attention especially if someone else in the same occupation is soaking it up. BTW, I don’t think Prime deserves a lot of negative attention at this point but he might after things play out.
I think that is part of it.
He's a story for the media, without question. He's definitely not in the coaching good ol' boy network either. There are a lot of moving parts.
It all has a very business, NFL like feel to it and that makes things very uncomfortable, along with his brashness as a coach in his mid 50s. He made people uncomfortable as a player too.
I think once you look past all of the cake and watermelon over what he's doing, it makes a lot of sense for a program like CU. I think HC hired into similar situations are going to follow and will do so much more quietly. Then we'll start to see the blue bloods get on board in an effort to maintain their own edge.
Coaches can come and go as they please. The players can too now. It's the players who really won't have football after college that are actually trying to get degrees for the real world I often wonder about, and there are quite a few more of them than we realize.
