The d gave up to much underneath with short throws. Perdue defended the short pass much better than the Irish. What the hell?

1. This wasn't as bad of a performance as most fans think. We should expect our opponents to give their best effort when playing against us and Purdue did that tonight.

2. Our offense needs to start the game better. This is the 2nd week in a row we couldn't get anything going on our first few drives. Play calling is too predictable.

3. Defensively, we must improve our tackling.

4. IrishPat and Title2114 should be banned from posting during games.

1. The D is truly awful. It's a combination of stupid scheme, youth, and some of the players just being bad. All ILBs are bad. Farley is not playing well. The other safety is not playing well. Corners are quite spotty in coverage. And it all stems from defending mobile QBs. Basically, if we rush 3/4 then they can extend the play and find the guy who is WIDE OPEN against spotty zone coverage. If we blitz, then in the likely event that the pressure doesn't get there one of the DBs or LBs is losing their 1v1 matchup.

2. The O is bad and it's because of Chuck Martin. We need to be creative in how we attack teams OR go jumbo and pound the ball. We do neither. We telegraphed all of our plays in the first half and it put us in a really bad position. Where is the play action? Vertical passing attack? Just so vanilla and terrible. We have two SUPERIOR WRs that dominate lesser DBs yet we don't know how to use them. Kelly took over in the second half and we scored 21 points and would've had 28 if we tried to score on the last drive. OPEN UP THE PLAYBOOK.

3. Bench GAIII as a RB except for maybe the occasional play here or there. He is not good. Run Cam when you need tough yards and start using Bryant/Folston more. If not, we're looking at transfers. Because it's BS to sit behind guys you KNOW you are better than.

4. What if we had a real OC that instilled a real offensive identity? Please lord let us get Jeff Quinn this year or maybe we can take up a collection to poach an OC from Briles or Oregon. This is just such a joke that we couldn't curb stomp a team as bad as Purdue.

5. I wonder if our performance cost us Tranquill.

None of our coaches are up for the job. Kelly promotes Martin to a job he's 100% unqualified for and has no idea what he's doing in general, Martin can't call plays, and Diaco has this team unprepared. It makes me wonder what a coach like Charlie Strong could do with this team.

The entire scheme changes when you don't have an All-Universe inside linebacker leading the defense. The step down from Te'o to Fox/Calabrese/Grace is like jumping off the Burj Khalifa.

I honestly don't think the "mobile qb" is the real issue and I think you'll see this defense struggle against USC and other teams with "non-mobile" qb's. We just can't get any pressure and the LB's inside stink. As does our safety play.

Rees played very good but still had 1-2 stupid throws.
Our O-Line stunk till the last drive.
Cam runs hard and with passion. I would like to see him start with Bryant and Folston giving him a rest.
Throw the ball to DD more.
We can't drop 5-6 throws a game against good teams.
Our DBs need to learn to tackle.
Please make Councell an ILB. Like now.
Nix and Day were very good.

The offense line can not block everyone when Purdue put 8 in the box and out number them. They have to throw the ball early to get the defense to worry about it then run the ball. Really doesn't matter who you put in at running back if the d is going the stack the box.
