What kind of scheme do we run where Redfield hasn't picked it up yet? Is it heavily influenced by theoretical physics? Is Redfield stupid? How good is our scheme when our safeties are constantly embarrassing themselves?

First off our guys played a tough game in the trenches for all four quarters. Second this is a different game with Nix, Shumate and Hardy. It's obvious what our limitations are but this far in the season we should not have as many mis-communications between QB an WR, nor so many missed tackles. Still confused at the play calling not throwing to mismatches like Robinson or Big Troy at times. This team was the way it was for the whole year an emotional roller coaster, which makes it so frustrating....leaves you speechless how they can be so brilliant and so lost in the same series. I take this as an optimist that the bright parts are glimpses into our future. Basically proud of most disapointed in others but love them all, if anyone thinks that these kids give anything less than 100% for their team mates, ND and us they are delusional.

Very disappointing loss.

1. Our defense played basically 9 vs Stanford's 11. Our safeties were useless. They either lacked the athleticism or toughness to contribute anything meaningful. It was embarrassing. I have never seen a safety cower when an opposing RB is coming at him. Why is he playing?

2. Our offense played relatively well, but when it counted it was disappointing to watch.

3. Tommy Rees played up to his abilities. Nothing more to say.

4. Playcalling. No complaints...except for the FUCKIN ROLLOUTS. WHY? The audibles? I have never seen a QB other than Manning that checks and audibles or what the fuck he does before every single f'ing snap.

5. Special Teams. What an embarrassment!

Aw shucks!

JK by the way.

I think many of us saw this coming when EV was booted. Happy trails Tommy. You helped us to a lot of wins (and some losses)

I was one of the retreads thinking that the defense was going to be better this year.

Excited to maybe win a bowl game, and see an offense that could light it up next year.

Good effort today though, undermanned, vs. a great opponent.

That's an amazing stat. Moving in the right direction. Excited for Golson next year.

The team was supposed to have a big Thanksgiving meal Thursday afternoon but didn't eat until midnight. Rees was in the kitchen audibling every recipe when they were about to cook. Ended up with the same meal they were going to have in the first place.

hahahahaha

Good. At least he finally shook off his title of Gary Gray 2.0 by learning to turn his head.

AFAIK there is not a Saint Liam.

University Health Services (UHS) is located in Saint Liam Hall, the renovated student health center building located northeast of the Main Building. With the recent renovation, the building was renamed St. Liam Hall (with reference to Saint William of York) in honor of William K. Warren Sr.

Did you even watch the game? Kickoff coverage might have been embarrassing, but that was the ONLY part of Special Teams that was:

ND punted 4 times for 164 yards. An average of 41 yards a punt. Stanford returned ONE punt for 4 yards, so the net was an average of 40 yards a punt.

Stanford punted 2x for 76 yards. A 38 yard average. ND returned one of those two punts for 8 yards, leaving a net average of 34 yards per punt.

ND returned 6 Kickoffs for 139 yards, a not great but respectable ~23 yards per return.

ND Kickoff coverage was bad, though: Stanford returned 4 kicks for 127 yards, or an average of ~32 yards per return.

Brindza was 2/2 on FGs.

I'm with Bennett on the eight games thing. Especially when you play 12 (which they didn't in the late 80s/early 90s).
But I was proud of the way our guys battled tonight. Stanford's a good, tough football team and we gave them everything they could handle.
Not to coulda/woulda/shoulda but I would have loved to watch that game with Golson, Nix, Nick Martin, Grace, Shumate, and all the various hurt Stanford guys in it. Would've been like last year's version (best game I've ever attended).
Also, we've got better safeties than the guys who are on the field. If Farley and Collinsworth are still starting next year something's wrong.

1. Loved how Martin shut down 93. He was MIA almost the entire game.
2. I like the looks of our O line for next year.
3. I did see a little better play calling, but we need to utilize draws and screens against aggressive teams to slow them down.
4. Why do we have to snap the ball at the last second? Stanford was timing their blitzes perfectly. If we snap earlier they can't time their blitzes.
5. I appreciate everything Tommy had done for Notre Dame, but I can't wait for EG to be back under center.
