I'd settle for transparency as a good first step. But I suppose explaining their vote would cause coaches more trouble than its worth, at least from their perspective.

Would love to know who voted for Georgia. Alabama I get, but Georgia has one quality win. Even Richt can't really think they're the best team in the country. And they've got nothing to gain at this point; their road is set.
Alabama has only 1 quality win, at LSU. Although I suppose Michigan could be counted as a quality win, it's certainly their second biggest win of the season.

Any votes for a 1 loss team shows bias. One of the coach votes had ND at #4. Another at #3. It is not widespread granted but any votes for 1 loss teams are unforgivable. #4? I am so glad there is a new system coming in. The coach votes have to go. Too many of these frauds have zero morality and will gladly cheat their way into a position to play in the playoff.

I don't disagree with you that there is some bias. Clearly the SEC is biased and dishonest and probably a bunch of other things, too. But we already knew that, and in the end it doesn't hurt us if a few SEC coaches waste their votes making themselves look stupid and undermining any credibility they might have had.

I know. But they're good. Also the defending national champs. Also winning on Saturday night at LSU is significantly harder than beating Florida with six turnovers. And Georgia's loss was far worse. And Michigan and Miss. State are still better than anyone else Georgia has beaten.
I'm saying, if for some inexplicable reason you don't think ND should be No. 1, I can see how you vote for Alabama. I don't see how you objectively vote for Georgia.

Yeah I wouldn't disagree with any of that. Trust me...I'm not UGA lover. I think the highest they should be ranked is #10 at most.

The ND hatefest going on down here has been a sight to behold. I'm on a Saints board all the time and was just about ridden out on a rail for having the audacity to interrupt a "Notre Dame's played no one all season and doesn't deserve a shot at the national championship" discussion by pointing out that, really, the only SEC contenders with tough slates have been LSU and Florida.

Apparently Mississippi State is a legit program. And OU and Stanford are less impressive than South Carolina.

The real howler was how consistently Navy, Purdue and BC were mentioned by fans of teams who spent this weekend beating up on the finishing schools that populate the Southern Conference.

Voters obviously discount number of quality wins. They seem to value style points and SEC wins above anything else. If they had quality wins of equal value to style points, UF would be #2 or 3 right now. UF is also the most similar team to ND. If UF wins out, I think they're the most deserving 1-loss team because they beat TA&M, LSU, FSU, and South Carolina.

Who beat a slate of better teams than that? Who has a better loss than them? Oregon seemingly looks like the next best team.

Pollsters should punish teams for playing weak schedules. If you don't play many strong teams, you better have a better record than those who played and beat better competition.

Let's just be happy tOSU isn't eligible so they aren't embarrassed again... even though that'd virtually guarantee another ND championship.

Go Clemson, go FSU, go Georgia Tech.

Last chances to bring the SEC down a notch heading into bowl season (and also the toughest non-conference games they have). Of course they are inter-state rivalry games, they would never put teams like that on their schedule without a lot of local pressure.

Oh lord all I ever hear about is the Pitt game. And then people would talk about our "weak" schedule so I would I would bring up the actual SoS numbers and all they would say is "I don't care about the numbers they played a WEAK schedule." SEC fanboys...you just can't talk logically to them.

It's hilarious to watch all of these "SEC fans" (I'm sorry what team is that again? What is their mascot?) pathetically cheer on their rivals. They're essentially bandwagon fans if you think about it, I mean their team doesn't make it so they say "f**k it, I'll just cheer for this team that's winning." That's the sickest part. I have no problem debating Alabama, Florida, LSU, etc. fans when discussing their team and how ND would stack up against them. However it's irritating to try and discuss football with people who cheer for a whole conference.

All I ever hear is "Notre Dame would have at least 3 losses in the SEC" and thank god for Johnny Football because now all I say is "I'm sure you thought that about TAMU."

Usually when they start talking up the SEC as a whole, I make a crack along the lines of: "Man, I haven't seen so much cousin kissing since that time I stumbled across that family reunion in Tuscaloosa." Gas on a fire.

Ask them what Murray St, Buffalo, Georgia Southern, Bowling Green, LA-Lafeyette, Jacksonville St, North Texas, Idaho, Towson, Wofford, UAB, East Carolina, La Tech, S. Carolina St., Sam Houston St., Western Carolina, Western Kentucky, and Florida Atlantic were preseason ranked.

When they say, well we have to play in the SEC so our in conference stuff is way harder - say something like, well you're in the SEC so your in-school stuff is way easier, why can't your players at least graduate?
