I woke up fairly early this morning as I suppose that game was weighing heavily on my mind as I slept, but not to the feeling that I figured I would have in such a defeat. I have read plenty of fan responses on all of the ND boards and have seen how it physically has made them ill. That is usually me as well. My chest tightens up and I am sick to my stomach in defeat. Not today though. I feel very at ease for some reason.

I know that many will not take solace in this, but really look at all of the positive things we have going on right now in the program:

Golson is a star and we still have a season and a half of him leading us on the field.

We have a bell cow at RB and his name is Tarean Folston! He and Greg Bryant moving forward look like the real deal as far as I can tell.

Our young receivers are for real! Fuller, Robinson, and Prosise with help in the way! The Admiral's son is special by the way! Just wow!

The OL showed up last night! If that is a sign of things to come as they start to gel, count me in as a believer!

Defensively we are very close. Lots of pressure, but have to finish. The blitzing packages were phenomenal, and BVG is building a great foundation moving forward.

Run defense, WOW! JJ and Day are just amazing! When all the freshman become sophomores next year to help those two SR leaders we will once again be I great shape on the line.

Last but not least, with the potential return of KVR, Ishaq, and who knows maybe the game inspired Daniels enough to return next year, added to what I believe is going to be another stellar recruiting class, the future looks bright! We played the epitome of a scandalous, football first University with no regard to morals or rules to the final bell, with them on their heels all night. It is not a storybook ending for this chapter, but it will be for the book as long as Kelly is writing it.

Put your Irish gear on today and wear it with pride! We are back, and we are taking names!

Hardly slept at all last night. Still pissed. No one has really mentioned the very last play. Freaking Elmer gets beat and Everett gets his arm hit. Would have loved to see a jump ball with Robinson. It was a weird route. Everyone ran streaks into the end zone except one.

I don't see us losing again...that includes the biggest game of the college football year.

ASU will be tough though...we'll out score them.

Elmer gets beat often. He is the weakest link.

I defy any of the apologists to find another instance where that call is made on rub routes. Every team runs it but it is never called. Bottom line.

Sorry man. I vehemently reject that its a legit call and I've stated why.

It is one of those 50/50 things...this time, they chose to call it. Shit happens. We won't lose again.

Ok, maybe one of those 70/30 calls....this tim they pulled the flag.

Also, again for the "right call" crowd. Holding is technically the right call and they never call that shit either.

This feeling is awful, especially when people are trying to have normal conversations with you the next day and your mind is just replaying CROBs TD.

But it'the price we pay for Kelly turning this program into a contender. The blowout may cause more initial anger but this is a slow and painful death.

decided to stay away from here til now. Immensely proud of the team, we are lucky to have kids like these who play their hearts out and do things the right way.

I'm still butthurt over the game last night, but I am incredibly happy with what BK has built, the effort and talent I saw, and the overall state of the program. Even butthurt I haven't been this excited about our short and long term outlook.

I don't think so, I think 8-10.

Name one SEC team outside the state of MS that is better than ND. You cannot. Still does not mean we won't get bypassed by BOTH Bama and Auburn, even though neither team has been impressive. And somehow the pollsters will justify putting UGA over ND too. I still think they stay in the Top Ten, but right now, they are easily the best one-loss team in the country.

Anyone who says otherwise is just full of BS.

In the 2nd picture you can see the Under Armour material that is designed to stretch toward turf late in a game. It helps with wicking sweat away from the body allowing the athlete to be faster. At least that's what Jimbo Gump, I mean Jimbo Fisher would tell you.

Mark May says put them behind Oregon and TCU...LOL. Along with Auburn and 'Bama, which I can kind of understand.

Myself personally, 'Bama 4 ND 5...

Then those undefeated teams we can most certainly beat.

Over the last three weeks Bama lost to a lower ranked team AT HOME, barely held on against a TERRIBLE Arkansas team (1 point) and destroyed an Aggies team that would not have been ranked in the Top 25, if they did not get the traditional SEC bump. They have not been impressive enough to be ranked ahead of ND. None of the SEC teams except for MS and Miss State have been. If anyone were OBJECTIVELY looking at how ND played in that game, they could not in good conscience say ND is worse than Bama....SMH. And last time I saw Auburn, they were getting their doors blown off by nearly 20 points.

Still does not mean that the SEC coaches won't all drop ND out of the Top Ten and totally screw us.

Our best hope the rest of the way is that USC and ASU win the rest of their games except their game against us, including FSU running the table the rest of the way, including winning the ACC...which they should do in a cakewalk.

Does anyone think that Golson could have run it in? I know we had no timeouts but if he at least looks like he is running and we have our WRs blocking in the endzone, I think he might have walked in...or sprinted in ala BC 2012.

~sigh~ Oh well, win out and let the chips fall where they may.

He is full of BS so much, I cannot tell if he is remotely serious. But I do know that all those talking heads that said the loser is automatically out of the running for the CFB were just morons.

Unbelievably I agree with his premise that ND should not drop much, and is in very good shape for a shot at the CFB playoff, provided they win out. It would help if ASU/USC/STAN win the rest of their games and one of them upsets ORE in the Pac 12 title game, too.

Come on guys! Let's not sit here and play the butt hurt victims. Remember the Stanford game in 2012? They feel like they scored. Hell we even had two guys with the same number on the field and didn't get caught. Point is, if it comes down to the last play of any game you can't cry about the outcome, you have to make sure it doesn't come down to the last play next time. The game was 60 minutes long, not a few seconds. We lost, but we have a lot to celebrate also. We are back in a fkn huge way! Coach Kelly and crew are the real deal, that was validated last night. We can go toe to toe with the best teams in the country. Much of the country this morning is talking about Notre Dame and saying "holy fk, they're good!"

We all went into last night nervous as hell because of the embarrassment we suffered in the NC game in 2012. We don't have to be nervous any more.

In that second picture you see the two ND "receivers" classically setting the edge ... if it was a running play.

They had 3 defenders boxed out and maintained it "downfield" on a pass play.

They knew where the ball was going and made no attempt to be a receiver. They performed their blocking task well, actually too well. A rub is a to finesse block one that is NOT supposed to be actually set.

Ok, maybe one of those 70/30 calls....this tim they pulled the flag.

See, to me, its not even that. Its a no call 100% of the time. Even the head ref had to chuckle and ask the guy if he was sure. I get it. Shit happens. Can't do anything about it. I get all of that but I'm not a coach or player on the team. I'm a fan. Part of the job is complaining! haha

I think I've earned enough reputation around the IE hood to be known as someone who's not a kook-aid drinker. I believe that I have proven to be as objective and unbiased as they come. I have been watching football for over 20 years and while that doesn't make me an expert, I'd like to think I'm intelligent enough to have gone into coaching. Others have agreed with me however life took me down a different path. I don't need other experts or analysts to tell me whats a good call or bad call. I don't care if my opinion is popular or in the minority. I call it like I see it whether thats in ND's favor or not.

Sure, if ND wins out then they should be in the Final Four but what if they don't? Or what if they do lose one more game? Its far from certain that ND will win out. Its a bullshit call like this that could keep them out. People disagree about the call which is fine. The only explanation I've received as to why its a good call is from BGIF and his basis was Fuller turning his head. Not good enough because as you watch Fuller, he looks at Golson and its only after Golson has thrown the ball to C-Rob does Fuller look at C-Rob. So, no, I don't buy the head turn.

They didn't box anybody out. Both defenders engaged the WR's first and made no attempt to disengage. What are they supposed to do? Prosise is held the entire time and Fuller does make a plant and slant and is immediately engaged by Darby who holds him. The third defender doesn't attempt to cover C-Rob as he's too busy trying to cover Fuller.

I doubt much of the country is saying that. I can already hear the excuses for how they were not into the game in the first half, that ND was exposed in the second half, etc.

The people that actually believe that ND is actually as good as advertised are Irish fans. Everyone else thinks ND was overrated, at least that is what I know the narrative will be.

OR

That FSU was overrated and ND only stayed with them because they were not quite as good as people thought....a trope that Fowler was espousing on GameDay and in the pregame about the Irish win against OU in Norman two years ago.

I agree that ND should have put to rest any and all doubters, but I seriously doubt it.

Our margin for error is definately smaller with this loss. Two L's won't work...but I don't think we lose again, maybe in 2016...

I don't think so. We caught the eyes of the nation yesterday. We, and Bama, should be the class of the one loss teams.
