Why would someone lie about that? He only brought it up because someone asked a stupid irrelevant question. Not like he said "listen to my stuff because I was a D1 recruit!"

I'm curious what the "it was the right call" people would say about what a receiver can do in that situation. If they were supposed to clear out, what can they do if the defenders step in front of them and refuse to cede ground? Just lay down? It seems way too easy to say the rule is that a defender can just step in front of the receiver and it's an automatic 15 yarder against the offense.

The standard for offensive pass interference is actually stricter in CFB than it is for defensive PI. From the rulebook:

ARTICLE 8. a. During a down in which a legal forward pass crosses the neutral
zone, illegal contact by Team A and Team B players is prohibited from the time
the ball is snapped until it is touched by any player or an official (A.R. 7-3-8-II).
b. Offensive pass interference by a Team A player beyond the neutral zone
during a legal forward pass play in which a forward pass crosses the
neutral zone is contact that interferes with a Team B eligible player. It is
the responsibility of the offensive player to avoid the opponents.
It is not
offensive pass interference (A.R. 7-3-8-IV, V, X, XV and XVI):
1. When, after the snap, a Team A ineligible player immediately charges
and contacts an opponent at a point not more than one yard beyond the
neutral zone and does not continue the contact more than three yards
beyond the neutral zone.
2. When two or more eligible players are making a simultaneous and bona
fide attempt to reach, catch or bat the pass. Eligible players of either
team have equal rights to the ball (A.R. 7-3-8-IX).
3. When the pass is in flight and two or more eligible players are in the area
where they might receive or intercept the pass and an offensive player in
that area impedes an opponent, and the pass is not catchable.

Problem is, foul was called on #20. If you want to start retroactively looking at the play and call it on Fuller, then you should call the FSU DB for defensive holding on CJ and run the play over.

That's tough. I feel for MSU because they blew one at Oregon and they won't get a shot against anyone to prove themselves

cool story. glad you could make a non sequitur personal attack

What story? Youre the one who looks like you dont know what youre talking about. The contact in that play between NDs WR and the defenders is basic play! How can you honestly convince yourself there is a fuking pick there?

Also, when you watch the vine from ND Observer's angle, there is no way you call it on either player. Fuller makes a hard cut upfield like he's running a route and the FSU DB breaks down and jams him momentarily... and then the play is over.

Is Oregon better than FSU though? (I've never been an Oregon believer, so maybe I'm not the guy to ask)

The call is wrong. Sane people don't need convincing. That's a fact. At best it's ticky-tacky and at worst it's blatant home cooking.

I like to think of myself as a very positive poster on here, so maybe that is what is going on here, but after as much beer as I drank tonight and losing, I feel fucking fantastic! This team is exceeding my wildest expectations and it is a bunch of Sophomores! That doesn't mean we can lose a bunch of close games, but we are in a great position moving forward. Though I believe we won this game, it will not go down in history in that way, it really really sucks, but it is what it is. Time to move forward and get better!

That 2013 class was just absurd. Add in redshirt sophomores like Ronnie Stanley and Jarron Jones and you've got a disgustingly good group of young players.

Stop being a fucking ass. You asked he answered, you don't know shit about him. Either don't ask him or take his word at it.

And he doesnt know shit about me. Am I not allowed to disagree with someone?

No it wasn't. It's tough to hear because the crowd goes crazy, but the ref clearly said #7.

Blah blah. Kmoose is being a contrarian dick.

Blah, Blah. kmoose is trying to hold people to a higher standard than the other boards that all of you elitist pricks condescend about all of the time. You know? The one(s) where people constantly whine about officiating, play calling, jumbotrons, and field turf?

As to me having whined about not getting to start these post game threads. People are taking my previous comments out of context. Yes, I have previously observed that it was a tradition for me to start these. But only in response to someone else bitching that the mods asked them to stop starting the post game "rants", and demanding an explanation of why I had to be the one to start them.

I am opinionated, yes. I set high standards for others, yes. I don't sugarcoat too much, yes. A couple of you mods have even given me infractions.. including you, whiskey. I would bet that I took those infractions with much less drama than most people. It's called being responsible. I sometimes lose my composure. But I don't blame anyone else when I do. I own my mistakes, and I try to learn from them and become a better person. I'm not going to apologize for expecting the same from others, and trying to hold them to that standard. In the end, it is up to them. If you don't like it, then ask Pham to boot me.

It's a call like this when refs need to be made available for comment and to describe what they saw. I've always thought refs should be made available to the media. They have proven to have just as much of an impact as the players and they should be held accountable just as the players are.

It's frustrating how perfect we must be to win anything. Next year we're screwed if we have trouble adjusting to new players and whatnot. It's the nature of college football. The playoffs will help, but it is still 99% luck.

What you shouldn't do is ask someone a question about themselves, they answer it and then you call them a liar. That is bad form. You can question if he is right about the PI call or not but that isn't what you did in that post.

Couldn't agree more. I've said this for years, and it's true in all sports.

It is unbelievable how good they are! Finish the season strong and we will add a lot of help in this class! I have never been more optimistic!

Its something I've long believed. Not an idea that came from tonight. Over all the years of watching sports, not just football, too many calls have been made that have influenced games. I understand not wanting to blame officials but there are times that its directly their fault. They should have to answer like everyone else.
