Lol. Have a good night bud.

Yup, keep posturing as you aren't the asshole here.

You do realize that no one is coming to your aid? You do realize that you are just coming back from a ban for rascism?

Douchey as hell, you are lad.

Van Noy didn't do a damn thing today. 2 tackles, great job by the tackles and tight ends. By the way, Texas A&M will probably drop somewhere around 18 after being trounced by LSU. A&M is now 8-3, same as us. Their wins are Rice, Sam Houston, SMU, Ark, Ole Miss, Vandy, UTEP, and Miss St. They blew out all of those teams except for Arkansas (+12), Ole Miss (+3) and Miss St. (+10). Their ranking is based purely upon only losing by 7 to Bama and 4 to Auburn. Now I'm not saying that ND could hang with A&M - in fact, I shudder to think how badly Manziel would torch our defense if Taysom Hill can pick up 100 yards rushing and with Mike Evans being covered by Bennett and Farley. But ND is an afterthought in the national football conversation at 8-3 while A&M is still considered a Top 25 team. Ridiculous.

And three-loss USC is ranked ahead of us, too. That Michigan loss really blows. Pittsburgh, too. A frustrating year that way.
FWIW, I think we could hang with A&M. I don't know that we'd win. But our defense is good enough to hang with anyone.

I'm just amazed ND's wins over three ranked teams is give such little currency, A&M aside. I mean, even before the Pitt loss, Az St was ranked ahead of ND with the same record and having lost head to head (and ignoring ND's win over one-loss Michigan St). Makes no sense.

Goes both ways. ND was at one point ranked ahead of scUM, who beat us by double digits, when both teams had the same record. Just saying, head to head is less important than directional trending in the polls.

Gahhh the michigan loss. I LOVE watching them lose, but every time they do, I shake my head remembering our game against them. Atrocious. They better not chicken out of the game at ND next year.

The biggest thing for me was the offensive line playing very well despite missing two starters.

Also, I haven't seen Okwara get much love but he is turning into a player.

Good win. Our grass field may have been BYU's leading tackler. Think I counted 4 or 5 times where our player completely slipped because of the field. Mix that in with Councell's injury being completely blamed on the field and I think that will be the last game you'll see that grass.

RIP Natural Grass

I have seen horse pastures look better then that thing did.

Yes. Between Okwara, Hardy, Jones, Butler, we've seen a bunch of relatively-unheralded defensive players develop quite a lot in the second half of the season. Bodes well for next year.

We need that O Line to play just as well, or better, next week.

Another game, another argument between kuehnja and ____________. I'm sure it's ___________'s fault again.

Twinkees are back, homie. Just sayin'....

Not only are Twinkies back, they're going after new markets.

The company also has long-term plans to extend the Twinkies line to include gluten free, bite-sized, low sugar and fiber-enriched versions.

No truth to the rumor that The Administration is lobbying hard to get the golden treat renamed as "Obamies" and that a box of this essential food group will be sent to the address of record for everyone signing up for an Affordable Care Act Exchange in 2014.

I guess, but at the time, ND hadn't lost to anyone since beating ASU, and had beaten So Cal and crushed Air Force, but still trailed ASU in the polls....again before the Navy and Pitt games, if memory serves.

I think a lot of pollsters don't watch as many games as many of us do, and I think they let their prejudices, rather than reason, rule their rankings.

Good call on Butler. He's been tremendous (considering he's a freshman) and I don't think people saw this coming. I feel very good about the future of the secondary - even if Farley hasn't been the same since gettig his hand screwed back together last year.

Yeah. I'm assuming that Redfield and Shumate eventually supplant Farley and Collinsworth, and that Luke is a more than capable replacement for Jackson. Which means we should have a very athletic secondary next year, which along with Jaylon and Ishaq will take some of the pressure off our weak inslde linebackers.
Wow. At this rate I could talk myself into feeling downright good about our defense next year.

I was only able to catch the 1st half and part of the 3rd quarter. I recorded the game though, and plan on watching it in its entirety soon. Jarron Jones was making some plays in the 1st half, which was great to see. The defense as a whole played well; BYU is no pushover. Running game was great, credit to the O-line there. Tommy played well outside of one poor throw.

Hats off to the seniors for winning on Senior Day. We're obviously not the best team in the country, but I've definitely enjoyed watching this team this year.

Kuenhja. I dont "tweet" at recruits. Please show me an example?

My bad. I always thought you did when you'd make them 'commit photos' such as below:

But I now realize you leave out the '@'. Point is, I wouldn't have a problem if you did because I know you'd do it responsibly.

Not sure what current topic this thread is on, but I'm going to post my observations from the game.

Good:

Folston's future is ridculously bright.

Cam is one of the more reliable players we have had in some time. Kid shows up every week.

Loved that we had so much success running the ball with some backups playing along the offensive line. Z. Martin showed he deserves to be a high round pick in this years draft with his play against Van Noy.

TJ Jones has made some big time plays this year. I hope it doesn't fly under the radar of NFL teams.

Jarron made numerous plays. Hope its a sign of things to come.

Keivarae is a hell of a corner. Can't wait to see his development over the next year or two.

Middle linebackers were solid.

Brindza has done more than earn his scholarship.

Jaylon makes incredible strides week by week. Dude is incredibly gifted.

Not so good:

Farley is a liability.

Tommy made another redzone error. Fortunately the team played strong enough to recover.

Personally, I was expecting a lot more from Bennett this year. But he has made enough plays for me to overlook some weaknesses.

Collinsworth in man to man coverage is not pretty.

Kickoff coverage? Still a lot to be desired there.

Overall, very happy for our seniors to leave Notre Dame Stadium on a positive note

Defense: Keivarae Russell, Jaylon Smith, Stephon Tuitt and Jarron Jones played fantastic today. Carlo Calabrese, Dan Fox and Sheldon Day also played well. The rest of the D didn't play particularly well. Edit: Schmidt had a nice play on a big 3rd down too...want to make sure he gets credit. Would like to see him play a bit more.

Offense: I thought Tommy played well today. He underthrew some long balls (including the pick), but also made some great throws. All 3 RB's played really well and Folston is on his was to becoming a household name very soon. TJ and Daniels played great..although Daniels still seems to run a lot of wrong routes. Regardless, #10 got open with ease today and had a big game. O-Line (especially the youngsters) was incredible once again. Niklas was a beast blocking and made a nice catch. Would still like to see him get more targets.

ST: Brindza was clutch on a day where the conditions were terrible. That 4th quarter 50+ yarder was a really, really big kick (pun intended). Kick return was OK (Cam had a nice one) and TJ had a nice punt return where he was very close to taking it to the house.

Overall, great performance by the team in a game that a lot of people expected us to lose. Go Irish!!! Beat the Trees!!!

Offense has a chance to be really, really good next year assuming Golson is back. Also kick coverage is still horrendous.

Can we please get some more observations in here? I admittedly slept through almost the entire first half.

Farley tackles like a kicker.

Given my time on the board and number of posts, is this enough supporting logic to substantiate my opinion that farley is awful?

I really don't see the point in insulting the kickers.

Appreciate it. No worries lol. I just waned to make it crystal clear that I do not "tweet" kids. Ill respond to them if they hit me up, but i am not Fistering.

Oline played a hell of a game yesterday. Hanratty/Elmer rotation seems to work without missing a beat in pass pro/run blocking. Hegarty stepped in yesterday and other than a few missed assignments, he played really well. Jarron showed glimpses of what he can do, and its nice to finally have someone that can block a few kicks. Ill be very interested to see how he does against Stanford.

As far as people freaking out about Nix. This is a prime example of what I have been saying for over a year. Nix is NICE, and ND needs someone like him, but they can also get by without having Nix and be more than fine. If the NG can get his job done, and the LBs shoot the right gaps, it doesnt matter if Nix is there or not. Ian Williams, Sean Cywnar, Kona, Jarron have proven that it can be done and ND has played some great games on D without having Nix in there vs some good offenses. Id take Nix or someone of his caliber everyday of the week, but ND will be just fine next year without him playing a 3-4 as long as the LBs get the gaps right. That has been a problem this year.

Has off to Brindza. Kid is just solid. Kickoff coverage needs work but SpTeams nice night and day compared to last year.

Rees looks 110% better when ND has the running game going, so next week will be more than interesting. Folston Folston Folston.
