A caveat here; I missed the 1st Quarter, as I was at work. So these observations are based mostly on the last 3 quarters.

1. Congratulations to the Seniors. It was great to see them get to go out on a winning note. And I believe that I heard that this Senior Class won all 4 Senior Day games, in their time at ND?

2. Apparently, ND was on fire in the first quarter. They still looked good in the 2nd quarter, but then the whole team seemed to come out flat in the 2nd half. They played with very little intensity, on either side of the ball. I blame the coaches for that, for letting the players (apparently) get complacent.

3. A hearty WELL DONE to the o line, which was grading some serious holes for backs, and protecting the QB very well.

4. A big shout out to Jarron Jones, who filled in admirably for Nix/Schwenke. Nice job young man.

5. Tommy's pick............... ugh! But do we not have any short passing game other than WR screens? When we do run slants, they seem to work rather well. But we never seem to run them inside of the red zone. The playcalling in the Red Zone leaves a little to be desired, I think. But that's probably to be expected, with a first year play caller.

6. Can we stop talking about how Tarean Folston is faster than GAIII, now? He got run down by a BYU guy. But, still................... great game for Folston. Nice to see him get so involved.

7. 4 penalties for 25 yards. That's not perfection, by a long shot........... but it's pretty disciplined, nonetheless.

My game ball goes to the Offensive line.

Red zone efficiency has been the albatross the entire time Kelly has been coach. If that gets cleaned up ND will whip every team from here until the end of time.

Really disappointed in the NBC coverage of the seniors coming onto the field. They did a much better job last year.

Way to win on Senior day.

Many predicted this team would be 8-4 or 9-3 with Golson gone, some even predicted worse.

They are on 8-3 as of now with a hopeful possibility of being 9-3 after the Stanford game.

They also have wins over 3 top 25 teams. You have to be nothing but proud of this senior class.

My thoughts:

- Tommy under threw at least 2 potential TDs. That's the difference between a really good looking win, and a tough win like tonight. Other than that, he managed the game and took the necessary chances. He played well.

- Folston is the man. GAIII really be in the mix next season IMO.

- OL was lights out. Great play all around.

- ILBs played pretty well, surprisingly.

- Farley is terrible and should not be playing. There's now way Redfield/Hardy are not better.

- Jarron Jones? That a boy!

- Sheldon Day and Tuitt played really, really well.

- Kavaire Russel has been our most underrated player this year IMO. Another solid performance.

- I don't think BJ has a career in the NFL. Maybe a year or two, but he's too small and cannot tackle.

- TJ Jones. I love you. You are amazing and I wish everyone played with your heart.

- Good win!

A drive by "so and so is god awful", with no supporting logic, is pretty weak. As for the "freshman" reference........... look underneath your name?

To his defense, do you really need to make an argument for supporting 'Farley is awful'? The proof is in the 2013 season.

I really think after the season you are going to see BK come out and say Farley needs surgery on his shoulder. I'll make a bet on it with anyone.

Only 3 penalties and the one on Niklas was questionable. So they were very disciplined. However, as much as I hate to criticize any player, Farley is not good. I guess being able to line up the secondary is more important than tackling.

Please... where's your supporting logic behind your statements... where do you justify your game ball? You presented no supporting logic !!!

Looks like a couple others didn't need me to explain in detail why Farley is god awful.

* Fitting that Tommy Rees would play like Tommy Rees on senior day. Touchdown pass to Daniels was beautiful. Interception in the red zone was not.

* Cam McDaniel and Tarean Folston both had nice games today. Folston is really good at making people miss.

* TJ Jones with another solid game. A bit disappointed he didn't break a thousand yards on senior day (he only needed 14 more) but a nice performance nonetheless.

* I wanna see more of today's DaVaris Daniels. What a dominant first half.

* Good to see Corey Robinson with a clutch catch on third down. He's been quiet lately.

* Great game from the offensive line with help with Troy Niklas. Terrific pass protection and gaping holes on the ground.

* Tuitt was very active today.

* Jarron Jones played an excellent game. Looking forward to seeing more of that in the future.

* Dan Fox had a really strong game.

* Today Mike Mayock called Keivarae Russell "one of the best corners in the country". High praise from a respected draft analyst.

* Matthias Farley is an absolutely terrible tackler. Christ.

* How about Kyle Brindza? Perfect on field goals and he hit a nice 51 yarder.

Well the defense wasn't on fire in the first quarter as BYU scored. From the second quarter on they began to play much better.

I don't think we were all that flat in the second half. We made some errors, but the effort was still there. The O line was great all game long. The D line began to assert themselves in the second half. The big run by BYU in the second half was just a matter of the defensive call shifting away from the point of attack. I don't know if we'll beat Stanford, but I think we'll give them a game.

I don't need to justify anything to you, enrico. I've been around a while, and I(along with many others) have EARNED the right to speak my(our) opinion here. You're more than welcome to post, but if you want to be taken seriously, stop with the drive-by, knee-jerk insults of players, and explain WHY you think the way you do.

I think Farley has played terrible this year. But I also know that he showed a lot of promise, last year. Now, it could be that he is a no talent hack who got lucky a lot, last year. Or............. it could also be that, based on his performance last year, the coaches placed more on his plate than he could sustain, this year.

Tommy is not elite, but he's had a nice year. I think this team is going to be scary, however, with a mobile QB. Going to be fun watching BK take apart defenses.

I was thinking the same thing Ironman. He's acting like he is favoring his shoulder. I played with a separated shoulder in collage and it was brutal...trying to "work" around it. But it just seems he could do etter at wrapping up. He doesn't need to knock anyones mouthpiece out, he just needs to make good contact and hold on.
