So the guy said this.

Everyone agrees with him.

And he's getting shit for it?

Makes sense.

Not everyone agrees with him. There has been some good discussion about how he showed promise last year and might be favoring his shoulder.

I thought he looked like a developing Harrison Smith last year. He seems to have regressed. There has to be a reason.

Possibly that Longo sucks, my man. ;)

Snowy, windy, and 26 degrees.

Solid game.

Jarron's play was the biggest hope for next year's defense.

Wish we would throw to Niklas and Koyack more. Hit 'em on a quick look in OR on a delay.

The OL played perhaps their best game of the season. BYU has a good defense. I did notice that several times when Mayock was complimenting OLine play the replay showed 6 ND bodies on the LOS. That probably cut down on TE Targets but was a setup for a delay or drag.

Another note on the OLine, we playing some young people out there and they're doing well.

Hard runs by Cam, Folston and GA. I wasn't suprised to Cam run down after a 30+ yd rumble. I was stunned to see Folson pulled down from behind 10 yds further downfield. GA would have had 6.

I expected the weather to benefit BYU's attack and play havoc with Tommy's passes. The weather effected both QBs but Tommy made enough critical passes to carry the day. Hitting Niklas instead of the safety would have put the game on ice.

Solid game for the recruits in attendance. They're not going to get to play in snow in Tuscaloosa or L.A.

I don't need to justify anything to you, enrico. I've been around a while, and I(along with many others) have EARNED the right to speak my(our) opinion here. You're more than welcome to post, but if you want to be taken seriously, stop with the drive-by, knee-jerk insults of players, and explain WHY you think the way you do.

I think Farley has played terrible this year. But I also know that he showed a lot of promise, last year. Now, it could be that he is a no talent hack who got lucky a lot, last year. Or............. it could also be that, based on his performance last year, the coaches placed more on his plate than he could sustain, this year.

*chuckles* sure thing, junior!

You are being a little bit of a jackass. It is not like he has only 5 posts to his name. How about you get off your high horse.

ARRRRRRR!!!!!!! Matey's!!!

I'm hammered. Love you all. Don't want to get banned.

Played well. Farley is no bueno. Hate to call a guy out, but even the biggest IE kool aid drinker can see that.

Put Irishpat in! Or his son Harrison. I may allow him to take a visit to Stanford just to make you guys sweat

I haven't seen one person defend Farley's awfulness. Just saying.

I never thought he was 'good' last year, but he wasn't a blaring weakness like he is this year. He will never end up like Harrison Smith IMO. Not even close.

And Longo is definately the reason we're not undefeated.

Good win. Our grass field may have been BYU's leading tackler. Think I counted 4 or 5 times where our player completely slipped because of the field. Mix that in with Councell's injury being completely blamed on the field and I think that will be the last game you'll see that grass.

I stand by that he looked very good last year. Same with Shumate. Maybe it was because of who was around them, but I think both have a chance to be really good.

Maybe I'm drinking Kool-Aid. Tastes like beer though.

I think Shumate and Farley both benefited from the people around them last year. I think Shumate has more upside then Farley but I can see why the coaches made the decision to put the more mentally prepared person on the field of the more athletic one. Having said that Farley has been awful at tackling the past couple of weeks.

I agree about upside...but I saw some flashes last year with both. Farley looked to be a hard hitting strong safety to me. That's why I wonder about injuries, as other have speculated.

Maybe not. Maybe he's just sub-par.

Read Ironman's post and learn.

It's a defiinitive statement about a player's value compared to his peers when he can "miss" so often yet continues to dominate PT at his position. If someone could handle the position better they'd be playing. The coaches get paid for wins. They recognize that even if you don't.

So speculation about a mysterious shoulder injury is what I'm supposed to 'learn'? I'll pass.

I don't think Ironman was saying 'he's not awful', he was simply giving a potential reason for why Farley has been so bad.

That is NOT saying 'he's not awful'. Read closer and pay attention. There's a difference.

And gotta love the argument 'well the coaches are closer to the situation, so you're always an idiot for questioning roster moves and PT'.

It's a ND message board where we discuss football. Get over your go-to argument.

Please explain to me how I am on a "high horse"?

enrico comes in and makes a drive-by statement, insulting one of the players.

I respond with sarcasm, which is actually a pretty mild rebuke of his sh!t-talking about a player. I ask him to use some logic to back up his point.

He claims that I use no logic to back up any of my points, which is patently false.

He then thinks he can presume to "call me out", because I (presumably) embarrassed him when I pointed out that he should post better. I disabuse him of that notion.

No high horse involved.

Were you not calling for Hendrix prior to his stellar appearance vs. USC? Perhaps Brian Kelly knew more than you in that situation?

I don't think I was. I've been close to 50/50, but never crazy about benching Tommy.

As I already pointed out your high horse is your believe that because he is a freshmen and new (new being relative as he has been around since 2009 and has 900+ posts) he should be treated differently then you because you have earned the right to speak your opinion and he hasn't. That is fucking ridiculous.

Exactly. You're allowing yourself to make "drive by" comments because you've "earned" it? LOL

On my way home from work, I listened to the end of the 1st Q/start of the 2Q, on the radio. It was BYU radio, on my iphone, as the game was not on the local radio. The BYU announcers were talking about how slippery the grass appeared to be. But they weren't using it as an excuse, just mentioning how many times kids on both teams seemed to be slipping. The field was replaced, just before the USC game, and the announcers talked about how it was scheduled to be replaced in the offseason as well. If you have to replace your natural grass field 2 or 3 times a year, it's probably time to move on to Field Turf.

How are we supposed to know if we agree with him if he doesn't provide specific examples? Preferably from peer reviewed material.

I thought BYU played a lot less inspired football than I expected.

This is a good point, generally; for all the "BYU has had this one circled on their calendar" talk all week and in the pregame, they didn't show a ton of fight. Although get steamrolled in the trenches will tend to take the starch out of defense, and the O line was just dominating.

I thought the BYU offense played with a bit more spirit than the defense, esp. the QB who is, I thought, one of the better QBs we've seen this year, Gardner's now you see it now you don't talent show aside.`

I'm just curious...would a Fieldturf surface be any less slippery in the snow/ice?

I like how you highlight only part of your post, why don't you go back and read the first part about you having earned your right. No one earns a right on a message board, it is a place anyone can post on. Also the idea that anyone should post better because you don't like how they post is just as crazy. Do you have a "Post Like A Champion" sign up by your computer?

Edit: Also by saying that you have earned it and you treating him condescendingly, you are implying that you can post your opinions without being questioned but he can't.
