Postgame Thoughts:
1) Name Benjamin Morrison a Freshman All American. Why did BC continue to throw it his way!?
2) Congrats to Foskey...to bad he couldn't break the record and sack Phil.
3) Michael Mayer- Notre Dame man. He has been fun to watch this year.
4) More of Sneed on defense. I didn't see Kollie out there, but I think Sneed and Kollie can make a difference vs USC.
5) Nice to see our 3 headed RB crew all get a TD.
6) Colzie and Styles each had a nice play- like our LB group, our young WR group is going to be good. Patience.
7) It seems like it's been 7 straight games Pyne has had a pass knocked down.
8) Pyne needs to roll out more, that was a pass he had to Colzie.
9) For those who were there- nice to see a flyover, wish they were for every game.
10) A nice confident win heading into USC. On paper ND has a lot of talent. They need to utilize it especially at WR and LB.

Go Irish!!

That was a hell of a throw. Maybe his best all season.

Evans played QB his entire senior year in HS so he is a perfect candidate for the short yardage situations. Not only can he run, he can keep the D off balance with a handoff (like to Estime) as well throw a surprise pass.
Wait what? If he can hit a deep ball go play action out if that, sneak Colzie up the seam and send a running back on a wheel route. Lol.

Pyne made some really nice passes & some really bad ones. Luckily, the nice outweighed the bad. I haven’t re-watched the game but he seemed to thrive more when rolling out or looking right instead of left.

Rees called a good game.

Colzie made a nice pass between defenders that was a little behind him. Tight window & he looked good.

Pyne look determined to get the ball to Evans but he either refused to check off or just threw a bad pass. One was in the first series when Pyne tried to throw w/ the glove.

Happy for Salerno. How disappointed would it have been to see that TD get overturned by that flag?

Cam Hart made some great stops. He was tackling like the shoulder was healthy which is a great sign.

X Watts has done a great job of taking advantage of his increased reps these last two games.

Kudos to Grupe. I predicted he’d have one miss yet he got back on track being perfect in both FG & XP providing ND 16 points.

I don’t know how good the Moorehead kid will end up being but as bad as it went for him the kid showed composure.

Amazed at how well the RB protected the ball. Especially on Diggs opening play run of 50+ yds.

Be interesting to see the answer given for no Angeli in garbage time. This was not asked in the post-game presser as it’s more of a Monday presser question (according to one of the beat writers). Could be as simple as Angeli being under the weather but was surprising.

ND failed to block a punt, and I'm a bit more mad about it than I should be.

The bad part a out it though is if he has just thrown the ball on time when he stepped up to avoid the pressure, Colzie was open, it was a much easier throw and with an accurate throw there was room to run after the catch. He is not anticipating at all and now seeing the throws until after the window has passed most of the time.

I think is as simple as a numbers game to try to preserve a year of eligibility. I believe he has appeared in two games (handing off both times) before that one. By holding him out, he can play against USC and in the bowl without burning a year.

How realistic he'll play in either is a totally different story, but that is just my guess at the thinking.

I sat right behind the USC band that game. No one had a worse time than me
Amen. Their band knows how to play one damn song, and they play it anytime they score, get a first down, wipe their butts, remember to breathe, or they pick their nose. They're a bunch of talent-less assclowns.

I am not opposed to doing it every once in a while. But like I said you Have Estime and Diggs that are dragging people. Let the dogs keep eating.

One of Diggs most impressive runs was inside the 20 and only went for like 9 yards. He literally dragged the line backer for 6 of the 9.
I know Estime and Diggs aren't exactly shrimps, but if I'm going to have a guy get tough yards and get hit by a whole load of big defensive linemen I'd rather it be a big TE that isn't getting a lot of hits right now. Estimate and Diggs are going to eat their fair share of shots already during a game, best to keep them healthy if we have another option. Mitch-a-palooza has been very successful for picking up short yards when the defense is selling out, and it's going to lead to a TE pass at some point. Keep it rolling while it's working. Not only that, but it'll help keep the RB's YPC average up.

You are right that the running backs are gonna take their shots in short yardage situations and that Mitch is effective in the short yardage situations just like you said. (I completely forgot he had played QB.)

My comment about it against BC was that this was the 4th time we had lined up like this. BC knew what was coming and was able to stuff it. How many times have we seen Diggs and Estime have an intended between the tackles run and kick it outside for a bigger gain. I am good with the play call just not amount it got called.

We have a ton of short yard options either way.

I always thought the general "coaches move" is to not play your back up in mop up and you play your 3rd stringer. The train of thought is if I get my backup hurt in garbage time then I dont have him for when I need him.

We would all love Angeli to get some real game PT but think if he goes down there, then Pyne gets hurt 1st qtr saturday. Do we really wanna be trying to be USC with Powlus?

Watching Angeli handoff to walk on RB Cormac O'Sullivan III (whose great grandfather played for Rockne) would have been the absolute highlight of my weekend.

I assume we didn’t get to see Angeli due to weather?

I think the staff wants to preserve his red-shirt. At this point in the season, he can play in the final two games and still maintain it.

Coach confirmed today that they did not play Angeli last Saturday to preserve the redshirt since he saw game time in 2 games already. This opens it up to Angeli being available in either of the two final games or both if needs be.
