It went from a slam dunk to somewhat murky. All a defense attorney has to do is argue that the victim was at risk time bomb and bring up whatever substance was in the vics system and all bets are off. For the reasons you stated...a federal civil rights violation sounds a little more convictable.

Exactly. This changes everything.

The video and audio + past behavior of cop keeps it a slam dunk.
When it takes a knee in the back of your neck for 9 minutes (while you're telling the officer you can't breath and ignored) to light the fuse to the "at-risk-time-bomb", are you really an at-risk-time-bomb.

From a buddy of mine on the sheriffs department, a knee on the back of a neck, while somewhat common, is not an approved technique. And depending on his local training, it could be strongly prohibited.

Most important, the video and audio is an almost guaranteed Alley-oop

Youre right, which is the reason why a civil rights violation makes sense, imo. Obviously more info needs to come out regarding the autopsy that will be considered by the deciding parties. But, a defense attorney will get the victims medical records and if it shows like 97% clogged, combined with hypertension along with a "possible intoxicant" whatever that is, the defense will have a doctor testify and if that doctor says the victim was a time bomb and couldve died at anytime, then that creates a problem. Im not saying that its a no win scenario but the scary part is that it takes one person to sink the ship. With whats at stake....make sure this asshole goes to jail, imo.

Yup. It's early. I'm guessing folks are just getting warmed up. ATL police just fired tear gas and have tasers out now. Fire trucks are trying to get to the fires. Starbucks and some other stores have been broken into.

At least the ATL mayor isn't being passive like the MN mayor. And I'm proud of our local CBS station. The two African American broadcasters are taking a stern tone against the violence and looting, and talking about the damage being done to the cause. And the local community organizers are all actively trying to discourage this crap.

He couldn't breathe because he was having a massive coronary, not because if the knee. What if the police suspected he was having an issue like that when he simply dropped to the street while walking, called the paramedics(they arrived pretty quickly) and were just trying to keep him down and calm? Maybe he was thrashing and convulsing and hurting himself before the video

We just don't know what actually happened yet .

Dude, you're reaching again. There's plenty of footage in the two views to counter your hypothetical narrative. The cop KEPT HIS KNEE ON FLOYD'S NECK FOR 9 MINUTES while he was telling them he couldn't breath. This isn't much of a mystery.

The beginning was years ago. Poverty and civil unrest has been accumulating for years.
On top of that, let our employees (government officials) steal, and rob from us all...
It's amazing the crowds haven't gathered earlier.

This political virus that most of the population Is seeing now as a fart in the wind will not go over well.

Without all the information (which we dont have) the deciding parties will make the best decision to which they can win. The victims civil rights were violated seemingly for sure. If they cant prove that the trauma of the knee on his neck caused the cause of death or it comes out being inconclusive as to the cause of death, that creates a hill to overcome. Im not saying it cant be overcome but it was a slam dunk when it looked like the cop suffocated him to death. If a medical expert cant testify that the cop caused trauma that caused the victim to succumb then there a lot to lose with a trial going south. The video shows him saying he cant breath, the video doesnt show whats going on inside his body to cause him not to breath. Again, this is my opinion, I want to see the guy in jail, not parading around as a righteous vindicated man.

Exterior CCTV / security cam footage from a store at the beginning of the arrest. Not a lot to see. He's cuffed very early. They walk him over near the cam and sit him down. He stays down until they get him up and walk him across the street. Hard to see what happens across the street, just that he falls down near the vehicle near the end of the clip.

<iframe width="500" height="300" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EKV7Mi9YUAQ" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Here's the long 10min vid of him on the ground filmed by a bystander. Floyd has got a knee in his back by one guy, another guy on the back of his legs (you can see all three in another view), and another knee on his neck by the guy you can see. The cop keeps his knee on his neck for like 4 minutes even after it's obvious he's lost consciousness. Even when the paramedic first comes up to check his pulse (he's obviously unconscious or dead at this point), they do nothing to get the cop off him, nor do they administer any aid once the cop removes his knee. They just plop him on a gurney and shove him in the paramedic truck. The entire time, people are watching, filming, and pleading for them to stop, and pointing out that he's lost consciousness. If that's not a slam dunk, not sure what is. Suffocation, or heart attack, the cause is pretty clear.... Force was excessive, and he simply doesn't die without that excessive force.

<iframe width="500" height="300" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zn2idiz2GEI" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Here's a few different clips that shows dash cam views and vid from another passer by. It clearly shows the 3 guys on him. Also shows him falling down ( from earlier 1st clip).

<iframe width="500" height="300" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZWzkgKPZWcw" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Here's an attempt to piece things together, but lacks the long 10 min clip above. Might shed light on the earlier aspects.

Honestly, all I need is the 10 minute vid, which makes things very clear to me.

The criminal complaint released Friday said an autopsy revealed nothing to support strangulation. It says the medical examiner concluded that the combined effects of being restrained, potential intoxicants in Floyd's system and his underlying health issues likely contributed to his death.

Sounds like at most the officer is going to get the Manslaughter charge. If there isn't evidence of strangulation, I don't think they're going to get homicide to stick.

Good breakdown

At 8:24:24, Mr. Floyd stopped moving.

At 8:25:31 the video appears to show Mr. Floyd ceasing to breathe or speak. Lane said, “want to roll him on his side.” Kueng checked Mr. Floyd’s right wrist for a pulse and said, “I couldn’t find one.” None of the officers moved from their positions.

At 8:27:24, the defendant removed his knee from Mr. Floyd’s neck. An ambulance and emergency medical personnel arrived, the officers placed Mr. Floyd on a gurney, and the ambulance left
the scene. Mr. Floyd was pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center.

The bolded says a lot. Stops moving, fails to remove knee. Checks pulse, no pulse, fails to remove knee.....

Wise words from TI and Killer Mike. Overall, very happy with the way gov and community organizers have attempted to handle ATL so far.

With the GF right now and we're talking to her fam in Atlanta, seems a bit similar to how the peaceful protests happened in the day time and some bad faith actors jumped in at night.

Hopefully everything's going ok down there for you.

Downtown ATL has quieted down, but rumor is folks are moving to Buckhead.

Just saw where a Secret Service guy at the WH got injured by guys throwing bricks.

MN burning again.

This Is very disturbing. I just can't understand in this day and age how the other officers did not respond in the appropriate manner. Empathy and the Idea of protect and serve Is not apparent anymore.
One cop, OK. 4-5? There Is something to this. Especially on Presidential election years.

I had a 22 year old cop tell me at the beginning of this lockdown that "the reason we are locking down Is because we won't listen"..... I wanted to argue. It wasn't worth the child's life, or mine.
As Pointless a conversation as possible.

They might need to? How about, the government might need to stop fucking with us. I don't believe this Is all about race. This Is about wealth and the inequality brought about by the select few.

You can imagine all of the back door BS that Is going on right now while a few people have pulled the puppet strings and made this crap set off.

Post office, a bank, and others in MN burning now... And of course, another LQ store looted... Gotta get your drink on when you're "protesting"...

Cops are nowhere to be found again.

Yes they need to start putting a end to this. Innocent people that have nothing to do with this are losing their lively hoods in the worst possible time (Covid-19)

National guard has just been sent to ATL, lets see if they are used or not
