I think it might have gotten real when six cops severed a man's spine. But it helps to call people "animals". Maybe Gov Hogan should start referring to them that way. It could help ease tensions. Heck the city police are way ahead of it anyway. They apparently have no issue with treating people like animals.

Curious, were you trying to say the most offensive thing you could think of or should we expect more tactful discourse from you?

She called them thugs during her press conference.

Thankful for a 2nd amendment. If you want to burn your city down, be my guest, just don't try to steal my car.

I've seen a few videos of Orioles fans around the area being attacked for telling people what they are doing is ridiculous as well of cars getting attacked and jacked driving through the streets.

With all due respect to police critics, the conduct of people right now in Baltimore is completely unacceptable. It's majority people just using the incident as cover to riot, loot, and assault. If you don't live in this area you probably don't have a clear picture of just how out of control these people are. It is not how you protest an injustice.

I do not disagree with any of this. I live 45 minutes from Baltimore and work 15 minutes away. I have several employees who live there ask off early so they could gather their wives and get them out of town before nightfall. Despite all that, now is not the time to insult people who are justifiably angry at what happened. I do not condone their actions but this started with yet another terrible crime by police against yet another black man. When does it stop? How does it stop? It is a sad day, indeed.

This damage from these riots is what animals do these aren't people. Half of the people starting this aren't from Baltimore. Protest are fine and I agree with them when you do it correct. Tearing up a city that my tax money going to pay for is bull shit. I know for fact that Baltimore police admitted they were wrong when the put him in the van unbelted. They had lock people in Camden yards sat night. The city mayor had let this get out of control by being a coward. That's OK the national guard is going to take over and they won't be as nice and I am OK with that they need to end this. My fellow brothers in the fire service are putting out a fire that the thugs started and they cut the fucking hose. I read your post I know what side you are on so I know how this is going to go.

Yes, the promiscuous looting is undoubtedly a stand for social justice. The truth, of course, is that "the five TVs are for me!"

My personal favorite are the people laughing and dancing to Michael Jackson in the street. You can tell the unjust death of Freddie Gray is really pulling at their heartstrings.

I thought NJNP was gone....

What else would you call individuals in a community destroying their own, misguided. They are far from it.

Nobody is going to defend or condone people rioting, but calling people "animals" is racially charged. And as much as it is horrible to see what is going on in Baltimore, it isn't hard to understand how the lid blows on a situation like this. When people feel they are being mistreated and they have no recourse and no outlet, they boil. This is the human version of contents under pressure.

What role did the burning CVS have in this guys spine being severed?

I think I missed that part of the news coverage.

Nothing happening right now is justifiable. The rioters aren't doing this because of this young man dying by police brutality (also not justifiable). Its pathetic and the rioters deserve whatever the national guard has coming for them.

How about rioters? That is the perfect word. We all know what that means don't we? I think we all know what "animals" means, too.

Perhaps I'm in the minority but I don't immediately associate the term "animals" with anyone of a particular race.

Are you also upset that the Baltimore mayor was referring to the rioters as "thugs"?

Apparently we don't. I, and others, don't see any connection between referring to the people destroying the city as animals and any race involved.

I would understand if there was any reference to race in the post, or any racial tone in that posters previous posts on the topic. But I haven't seen any. And instead some are quick to pull the racist card without giving the individual the benefit of the doubt they had done nothing to lose.

Why didn't it happen six months ago then? Why did they all spontaneously just start rioting? Nobody is saying these actions are justifiable.

Are you willing to say that in his post, he was generalizing African-American's as animals? It seems like thats what you're getting at. If so:

1. Why? His post was about the behavior of the demonstrators, not the individuals.
2. You're very racist

an·i·mal
ˈanəməl/Submit
noun
plural noun: animals

a person whose behavior is regarded as devoid of human attributes or civilizing influences, especially someone who is very cruel, violent, or repulsive.

Some people purposefully mean it to be racist, some people purposefully interpret it to be racist.

When reading a post on the internet, pretty hard to determine either, and may be better off not using it like you mentioned. Rioters works best, which I used in my post above as it is the most accurate, non-discriminatory description.

I have not heard her speak on the incident but if she said that I believe it is not at all helpful and it will not help her win Mikulski's senate seat either.

Opportunists?

Why are some of these rioters traveling multiple states to riot? The Baltimore police have done them wrong?

The slaying of this young man is undoubtedly the tipping point, but you mean to tell me every rioter out there is rioting for his death and his death only?!?

Context is revealing. Think I am interpreting it unfairly? I wonder if the people who used it in this particular context would be willing to go to Baltimore and conduct a poll for us.
