Tuitt, because the DL is one of the units that can have the greatest impact on a game. Also, with the large number of busts, can't put stock in someone who hasn't touched the field and/or graduated high school.

Hopefully very soon I'd be able to say Ishaq, and Tuitt is definetly up there. For now though, I'm going with Wood even though we have tons of depth at RB. If he stays for 2 more years he can put up some amazing numbers and besides Eifert he's the only one i trust on that side of the ball (besides Oline)

Defense- Manti essence of ND, Slaughter good leader I find and a key player too
Offense-Eifert, no explanation needed really
Wood-love his energy, even in practices

Day on the defensive line. This kid will be special may even eclipse Lynch as a freshmen.

The unsung LB Corps: Grace, Utupo, Rasaba, Moore, etc, etc.

Watt: He is a manbeast. Who the fukk can pancake at will on the rodeo drill against tough competition? Mark my words he and Cave will be the most physically punishing players side by side on any offensive line in college football.

Toma, he will be able to play as well as anyone, shy of Riddick's ability to fake everyone out of their jock strap.

This thread is tough because the greatest thing about ND football this year is 70 plus guys are going to be ready to play.

BJax, we have no depth at corner.

My next prediction, just for you, MGRIFF: I heard Kelly say something and I called to check on it. Apparently the staff has seen something in a freshman at corner. Cam McDaniels, is making strides and kicking ***! Don't know his ceiling, but he has exeeded everyones expectations for the spring, and just getting moved there. The staff is hoping he can be a competent back up by fall. Maybe once he gets the reps, he will be more; we will see. He is fast enough, has great hands, good ball skills, ups, can change directions on a dime, loves contact, and doesn't take anything personally. We will see.

I think Ishaq Williams is my guy. He has had to struggle learning a new position, but he is sticking with it. And here is a thought, with Lych leaving, can Ishaq go back to DE? If not, I expect him to bring it as a Dog this year...maybe lining up as a DE on passing downs.

Manti- Just speaking to him he gets ND. He gets why he is there. Its a larger purpose than ND Football. He is mature and sees past things normal college kids list as important. If he can emerge this year as even more of a leader I think his team will follow him to greatness. Kid is motivated for success.

ps. Ishaq is staying at LB. Prob play some rush DE in nickel/dime, but his potential is through the sky at LB.

I'll give some love to young OL too--Stanley, Elmer, Biven etc. The trenches are where games are won or lost and these guys are going to be studs

Golson. Basically I feel like the team won't really achieve any sort of tangible greatness in the near future unless (1) he's the starter, and (2) he plays up to his high ceiling.

And in 2 years I'll probably copy and paste this post and insert "Kiel" for "Golson". Such is CFB.

The starting QB.

The backup QBs. Our starting QB needs a fire lit under his *** and the pressure of these guys breathing down his neck and chompin' at the bit to take his job. These guys need to get better every week in order to keep our starter on top of his game. The success of our starting QB is going to be very dependent on the continuous improvement of this group.

Potential wise would defiantly have to be D Daniels & Golson
Talent wise obviously Teo and Eiffert
Talent with more than 2 years left Tuitt
Depth wise BJax

On a side note, I still feel like Riddick is our biggest play maker but hasn't been able to produce because of injury and Reese unable to get him the ball. We need to put the ball in his hands. He is so elusive and quick. Anytime you watch him with the ball it is so entertaining.

I would pick Jamoris Slaughter but next year is his last season and he already chose to come back for a 5th year so I don't see him going anywhere. So my pick is going to be Bennett Jackson. The secondary is really lacking depth and all reports are indicating he will be a great CB for us. And we already know he is a beast on ST. I could pick a few more but he is my #1.

Well that's a plus and encouraging. When true freshman Tee may have walked into our starting lineup, that shows how thin we are at that position. In any event, it's encouraging. Watching BJax on the Spring videos makes it seem like he is going to be our number one, but he still makes mistakes. He's young so it's expected but it scares the **** out of me. The front seven and our scheme should mask some shortcomings, but how inexperienced our depth is scares the **** outta me.

BJax, we have no depth at corner.

^^^^^^While he may not be our best athlete, or been a starter, right now having him as our only clear starter at CB, leaves little to be desired. Good thing this is only spring.........

I can't single out one guy, so I'll have to go with a few that touch on different parts of our team:

Bennett Jackson & one of Atkinson/Brown/Wood - due to the lack of CB depth over the next couple of years we need them to step up big time

Tuitt & Nix - both have 3 years left and become ever more important with Lynch gone

Kiel/Golson/Hendrix - because they're not named Tommy and one needs to set up and be the man

Davonte Neal - because we need a gamebreaker

Te'o - nuff said

Elmer - loves ND, seems to be a natural leader and working hard on helping the staff build our current recruiting class
