I'm honest... it would be a great story for this kid... really though, I want him back because we freakin need more dpeth in the Defensive backfield... don't fake the funk.

Yes. I wonder how much we would hear about how wonderful a kid turning his life around is, getting on the right track, working hard, etc., etc. if he were a 3-star player playing a position where the depth chart is currently promising and comfortable, and it looked like the coffers would be restocked next year?

I hope he makes it back, but I do think we're fickle.

Regardless of stars and depth, I still want him back. That goes for all players.

Maybe I'm just too old to relate to "reality" anymore, but I'm rooting for Tee Shepard or young Mister X for that matter to be a success in his life. Students in my classroom were all hoped-for valued succeeders whether they played sports or not. Notre Dame and Notre Dame football will go on and be successful regardless of Tee --- and I believe that with every intuition and historical perspective that I have. So, no --- this doesn't have to do with football for me, and in my opinion shouldn't with anyone --- even Tee himself. This is life.

I have to admit.....after reading through this thread, I've been not only shocked and appalled, but wonderfully surprised and grateful at the responses to some of the Butt-hurt Jackasses here today. We can call out players and coaches for underperforming, but there is absolutely NO excuse for calling out a young man who tried, and failed, but is still trying to follow a dream. What in the hell is wrong with some of you???

Not one of us, is in his shoes at this point in life.....he's severely hearing impaired, his cousin bails on him and the team at the last minute, he tried and failed, and is apparently trying again. Is that not what we do in life?? When we fall, we pick ourselves back up again. Good luck Tee, I, for one, am rooting like hell fhat he makes it back!!

Well said man, reps.

Exactly. As hard as it is for me to see Tee getting back to ND, I couldn't be rooting any harder for him to make it back. Yeah, it would be cool for us, as fans. But more importantly, it would be an AWESOME thing for him if he ultimately achieved his dream of going to school at Notre Dame. I agree 100% with you about how crazy it is that supposed fans could have contempt for the kid, when I think his situation warrants the exact opposite of that.

I am not sure if you missed the Clairborne Wonderlic thread or not, but the contempt shown by some on this board over that was obvious, regardless of learning disabilities or not.

I personally wish Tee well, and that if he makes it back to ND, I will be rooting for him whole heartedly. Tee needs suppport from wherever and however and if we can contribute even a smidge to it, then so be it. Hell, we all need some kind sort of support in our lives from time to time and some get very little throughout their lives, and some none at all....I consider myself lucky to have the support system that I do from my family and teachers and co-workers. It comes from everywhere, it surrounds us and binds us, luminous beings we are, not this crude matter... some of us choose not to see it or take it for what it is....

Go Tee.... Do it.....

So everyone on IE has to have the same opinion? if ppl have a different opinion they're butt-hurt jackasses? So, anyone who has a different opinion than you needs to be called names and personally attacked?

Whiskey is right on the money here. Tee didn't want to leave ND and to my knowledge has said nothing bad about ND. If he wants to be there then I'm totally on board with giving him a second chance to put in the necessary work to earn his way into the university (ACT scores orJuco grades) and then a second chance to put in the necessary work academically once he's there.

Agree. I'm actually surprised there is any debate on it. As some one who has screwed up many times in the past - for way more than missing a few classes or not getting a good test grade - and who has been given second chances, I don't even view this as a second chance but rather a continuation of trying to make it work. I like the fact that ND gave a try on a borderline academic case (but a good kid) and then acted quickly when it didn't work. And would like it even better if they stayed in his corner to try to make it work still. Seems like a fundamental positive shift by the admin.

He "wronged" us, because he didn't hold up the "student" part of the bargin.

And I call BS on his "medical condition"

You wronged everyone in this board by continually making fun of and putting down Mexican immigrants, and then when you were asked several times why you hired them to work for you instead of naturalized American citizens, you stfu and left the thread. When the **** hit the fan (created by you), you couldnt handle the heat and took your ball and ran. And now you want to bag on Tee???

Tee didnt wrong us. Nobody knows what the hell happened. Sounds like he didn't pass the ACT. Did he study hard? Go to class? No idea. But if he didn't, he effed up and hurt himself and his teammates . But he didn't wrong us.

We don't all have to have the same opinion, but if your opinion is stupid in light of the facts surrounding the situation then you deserved to be called on it. Tee didn't do what his cousin did; he didn't mislead anyone or lie to anyone. He just didn't have the required test score. What kind of adult gets mad at a kid who doesn't do well enough on a test? Especially a kid with a physical impairment that makes learning more difficult for him, and who has taken the high road and not lashed out immaturely when it didn't work out?

I'll root for him. Whether it is ND or another school, I hope he can commit to the academics and get a degree somewhere. Throw a hearing problem on top of the rigorous schedule of a football student-athlete and you have a very harsh change of climate.

He did graduate HS early with good enough grades and course level to pass admissions. I can also imagine someone shutting down if/when they find out their ACT didn't go as well as they needed after they had been on campus a few weeks knowing they would likely get the boot. (I am baffled why an EE is allowed if the ACT hurdle has not been beaten).

At the end of the day, give him a shot. His potential success and ND's work to help him earn success only help our recruiting in the future. There is nothing that has happened here that cannot be undone.

Seems pretty simple; if the university and coaching staff deem he has done enough to merit coming back to the University of Notre Dame and to play football, that is good enough for me.

Tee - work hard, get it done, and return to the Irish. Regardless of what people say, they will all be cheering for you on Saturday if you put forth the effort.

Can someone please enlighten me to the answer to the following question.

Fall Semester has not started yet so assuming Tee can raise his ACT score before the deadline, why could he not come back in the beginning of this fall.

Even if he did not go to class, he would have withdrew from classes instead of staying enrolled so theoretically, he would not be on any kind of academic probation/restriction correct?

He didn't enroll at any CC, right?

Everything I've seen had him enrolling at The College of the Sequoias.

I believe it was the Sacramento Bee that reported it

If he did enroll he would be a transfer, but I don't think JUCO transfers have to sit. IDK. Pretty unique situation; not sure if there is any precedent for it. I certainly don't know the answer.

Do you guys want Tee to transfer here because he's a good football player or because you actually want him to get where he wants to be?

I did some google searches and couldn't come up with any articles from the Sac Bee that said anything except that he was "expected to enroll" in CC. So who knows, maybe he didn't actually enroll?

If ND can get Amir Carlise not to sit, I think they could get Tee back. ;)

Both. Obviously, if "where he wants to be" was somewhere other than ND, I doubt there'd be much interest. But, I do like Tee and his story, and I am rooting for him on a personal level. That our goals align makes it that much more interesting.

http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/notre-dame-football/50994-question-about-juco-transfers.html

Here is an old thread on JUCO stuff for some info on it but I also found this on the ND site:

"Each year, we receive approximately 600 fall semester transfer applications for roughly 140-150 transfer openings. In the spring, we receive close to 100 transfer applications for 25 spots.

The fall semester transfer application deadline is April 15. Students are notified between June 1 and July 1.

The spring semester transfer application deadline is November 1. Students are notified between December 1 and January 5.

Please note: Notre Dame does not admit enrolling second-semester freshmen
."

Would this be Tee? And I want him to come if he wants it. Nothing more.

If his admission was contingent on his ACT score, would he have been officially admitted. I only ask because if he was not, then you can't be enrolled in classes and it wouldn't matter if he showed up for class or not. I know this is weird to do, but this would be the perfect scenario in case he didn't get the score he needed, and considering that he didn't play football for a year, it could bring him in for spring practice. I know this is far fetched, but if the medical condition was indeed a smoke screen, then he could've gone to any school and they would've made room for him, but yet here he is still trying to get to ND, almost if like that was the plan.

No actually you are all butt-hurt jackasses and I am reasonably okay. I am not kidding. Do not violate my opinion of myself or the world around me.

Takes a thread like this to show what is up with our deepest darkest psyches.

Seriously though:
