I'm with you. If Tommy was really pissed, why not take that huge (if true) upgrade in pay and head down south? As asked before, what connections does Malik have? It's been a few years since he's been here. Teammates and most of the coaching staff are gone.So much of this sounds like they are making it up from what little they do know.
It's also a time honored method to get a raise from your current employer. It's possible Miami just wanted Rees and Gattis, and started with Rees with big money, and it was so much that Rees wasn't going to say "no thanks" to right away. He also has a GF, probably wanted to talk to her (or show off the offer), before ultimately saying no.
I doubt the co-OC from WV will worry Rees.
You are correct, that was apparently part of him staying as OC.I thought Tommy got a raise when MF was hired or did I dream that?
The six degrees of Bryan DriskellI like Shaun Davis but BD's not doing him any favors.
He did - allegedly a very good one that almost matched LSU.I thought Tommy got a raise when MF was hired or did I dream that?

From what I heard the money Miami is offering is best-in-class for all assistants. It's in the $2M range for coordinators (at least OC). Apparently, this was worked out by Cristobal as part of his negotiations -- he mandated that Miami be set up to compete like an Alabama in terms of financial commitments to staff and future NIL funding. And they've got some real estate billionaire who agreed in principle to finance the whole thing... he's also funding the development of a new stadium near campus.
I, personally, would bet on the "U" being back within 3 years. I'm more confident in Miami than I probably am in USC... I saw some interesting stats the other day about how Oklahoma actually got worse statistically on offense *every single year* under Riley after Stoops left. Literally consistent decline. The only thing that looks good for Riley on paper is playing in a very weak league. He also has to reboot culture from scratch, whereas he inherited winning culture from Stoops.
Alex Grinch's track record has also been disappointing vis a vis his talent levels. From what I heard the money Miami is offering is best-in-class for all assistants. Dan Lambert. He owns cruise lines, real estate, and an MMA gym. He has wanted to buy a NFL franchise but has been denied so he has decided to turn the 'canes into his franchise. Gonna be crazy to see what they do with his money behind them. From what I heard the money Miami is offering is best-in-class for all assistants. It's in the $2M range for coordinators (at least OC). FWIW I've read from Miami fans that the reported total salary pool for assistants is 8 million. From what I heard the money Miami is offering is best-in-class for all assistants.
Reba was in North with Jussie Smollett...I'll play. Kevin Bacon was in Tremors with Reba.... NEXT
Interesting. I had not heard that or considered that. Good point on the culture of the programs as well. From what I heard the money Miami is offering is best-in-class for all assistants. The U being back? Good, need a new program to hate. Anything to shift the winds away from this constant Bama, UGA, Clemson, OSU malaise that we have been in for seemingly 15 years now. From what I heard the money Miami is offering is best-in-class for all assistants. The problem Miami is going to run into is they don’t have a head coach good enough to win at the level their boosters and alums are going to expect. From what I heard the money Miami is offering is best-in-class for all assistants. Yes, but being "good" overall coupled with playing in the ACC will bolster the narrative.Lol. Let's pump the brakes on Miami being back. Cristobal is roughly a career .500 coach and Miami has been bad for nearing a couple decades.
Mario is going to have a damn long leash though and the boosters are behind him more than the school itself almost. With the level of talent he’s going to bring in, it’s going to be hard to be bad really, which is exactly what he showed at Oregon. Between that and the ACC schedule, the floor is a 8-4/9-3 type, which is exactly what Oregon was under Mario. I don’t see them going back to the dark ages of funding if that’s the result. They might not always back 2 million dollar coordinators but he’ll still have drastically elevated the floor of the program, which was way too low given their history and access. The problem Miami is going to run into is they don’t have a head coach good enough to win at the level their boosters and alums are going to expect.

It absolutely is. Mario is cut from the high energy could sell you on anything cloth. He’s their chosen son. If he produces like a 9-3 type floor he’ll continue to have the backing more than if Coach XYZ was producing a 9-3 floor. That's not a thing.
Made me think of this. Plenty of people at UM aren't happy to have him.and the boosters are behind him more than the school itself almost.
I may have misread your post. I read.. boosters are behind him more than boosters are behind the school. Rereading I assume you meant boosters are behind him potentially more than the school is behind him. I could see the latter. It absolutely is. Mario is cut from the high energy could sell you on anything cloth. He’s their chosen son. If he produces like a 9-3 type floor he’ll continue to have the backing more than if Coach XYZ was producing a 9-3 floor.
Unfortunately I think I can loosely get back to Driskell in 4... I LOL, tried to explain it to my wife... So now I am replying from the couch.Reba was in North with Jussie Smollett...
