Dragged this from another thread. I get that Watt shouldn't have done that but this just strikes me as completely nuts. Was this a situation where Watt was just being a loyal idiot and thought HH could help or was Quinn's coaching so bad he thought this was his best option? Anyone have more on this? I guess the possiblity of Quinn being this bad without Kelly realizing it and/or addressing it is just too hard to believe.
I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when this became known by Quinn and the rest of the staff.
BK was asked directly about this, and the official story was that they were meeting HH for extra work during the summer, when working with the actual coaching staff would have been against the rules.
Is that actually true? Who knows. Seems convenient for BK to talk around his buddy not being up to snuff, but it's also not unique for players to go get their own training during the summer months.
It's probably some combination of both Quinn not giving them everything they want AND the players wanting more work than NCAA time allowed.
