It's in the Zack Martin thread, but probably belongs both places. Love having Hiestand on the staff.

Harry is an excellent recruiter, no doubt, but his job will be much more difficult without one of ND's all-time greats on the left side. ZM's status as a stud was pretty much confirmed by every NFL scout this Spring.

Stanley is a great athlete, and protecting a mobile QB is easier, but there will inevitably be a drop off of sorts. Just we shouldn't pretend Harry single-handedly created Martin, we shouldn't fault him if things take a little while to gel this year.

I'd be willing to bet that, by 1730 on Aug. 30, 2014, someone will be in the gameday chat, calling for Hiestand to be fired.

If am a QB or a WR or RB, I would think it would be great to play behind a great offensive line. I think Harry H. helps Notre Dame in recruiting ANY offensive player.

OMM please comment - why is Harry H. such a great offensive line coach? How much does strength and conditioning coach (Longo) and training table figure into the equation.

Zack Martin getting mid first round money. Chris Watt getting 3rd round money.

Recruits notice.

All hail Harry H.!!!!

Harry is redefining the role and amplitude of offensive line coach in college football.

Even the legendary coach Joe Moore had recruiting specialists bring the talent to him at ND for "evaluation." And Joe Moore was a big part of the reputation of powerful offensive lines that has become part of the legend of Notre Dame football.

To have a coach that can teach teamwork, technique and integrate with the rest of the staff as well as Harry can, (rivaling Joe) and can judge them on the "hoof" like Joe could, but also be able to go out on the road, relate to these kids, and sell them on his system, like Harry does, is invaluable in today's college football world!

Having a beef crust old coach with the popularity of a rock star, and the following of a revivalist today is just plain sexy!

If/when he gets Kraemer and Eichenberg he should be given a lifetime contract.

I still love to go back and read some of the criticism's people had on him at the time of his hire.

Same here. I wish some people would do an advanced search and out them. I remember hearing people drone on and on about how he was a mediocre coach and wasn't a great recruiter.

Apparently the top linemen in the country every year believe he's the best in the business and he just put two of our guys in the league in the first three rounds.

Harry for life!!!!!!!

One hell of a recruiter but so far this year he will be lucky to get a c+ grade with the performance of his big guys.

The OL is getting absolutely humiliated today. Bama didn't even make them look this soft and slow.

The people jumping on the Heistand wagon remind me of the people that jumped on the BVG bandwagon. Not saying both guys aren't good coaches, but time always tells the true story. We should have the talent to dominate the trenches, we're not getting it done though. Last year people blamed it on the fact we had an immobile QB, I can't imagine what the excuse is this year.

The o line last year was lights out in pass pro.

Absolutely abysmal today. Of course we get Zack Martin the years when we're not competitive.

Elmer and the guy next him, think McGlinch, were really really bad.

I think Steve Elmer sucks as a football player. He is bad.

Where is the development of the OL by Hiestand?

Most underachieving part of the team this season.

Doesn't matter how well he recruits if it doesn't translate on the field.
