CW's 2009 offense with Clausen, Floyd, Tate and Rudolph was lights out. Never even got to 40. CW's 2005 offense was insane. Never got to 50. Your arbitrary number of 50 "or we have problems" doesn't make sense to me, and I'd imagine many ND fans would agree.

Crazy yes, but maybe directionally correct. I recall an article a about 5 ago talking about the average college football score climbing dramatically since 2006. I think the average in 2008 was 30, and a subset of those (top teams) were averaging 35+. I have no idea what it looks like since 2010ish (calling WJ), but assuming a continual climb and trends in O these days, we should be in the 40s at least against the average team, and close to 50 or a bit more against the bottom dwellers.

Given these numbers take into account Oregon and some other O Giants, I'd be happy with averaging 25 if we beat all of our opponents.
