This USC game and ASU's last few games have got me thinking maybe we are a little better than we think.
I don't take much stock in the ASU game. It was a big game for them, at a neutral site, and it is impossible to name a game this decade they won when a shred of credibility was on the line. They are the epitome of, as Bill Simmons calls it, a "good bad team." They beat up other bad-average teams, and s-hit the bed against decent and good ones.
Over the past decade they're 67-57 under 3 different coaches with 4 losing seasons and only 3 seasons with 8 wins or more. Todd Graham won 8 last year, in his first year, and has a good shot of winning 10 this year. A bowl win would give them 11 and matching their best season in 4 decades.
Their only loses this year are to Stanford by 14 and ND by 3.
A10 or 11 win season would make Graham the most successful ASU coach since Dan Devine. It's early in his reign at ASU to anoint him but he's got them going in the right direction and playing above the ASU historical .600 winning percentage.
There a formidable opponent this year and a good win for ND.

Last year we struggled with Purdue, but beat Miami like 42-3... A team is allowed to have a bad game, it just so happens ND has played poorly against Purdue recently.
