I’m just gonna post this tidbit I saw on ISD.

The determination to call the game will be up to the AD, stadium operations, law enforcement, and weather officials. The refs can suspend play for weather temporarily, but they cannot call a game due to weather. ND follows NCAA lightning guidelines, which is as follows:

• If lightning is detected within 8 miles of the stadium, play must be suspended.
• A minimum 30-minute delay is required from the last observed lightning or thunder before play resumes.

The conferences say the following:

• The SEC and Big Ten say games may be resumed "as late as practicable" but not into the next calendar day unless rescheduling arrangements are possible.
• The ACC has language about "continuing up to the limits of operational feasibility," which is legalese for "we'll play as long as we can."

I assume we have a B1G crew. That means if the game restart is after midnight, they are likely to call the game early. If that's in the first half, it's postponed. If it's in the second half, the score of the game at the time of the call is final.

My buddy works police duty in the stadium. He told me some have discussed procedures for clearing the stadium in the event the game is canceled. He said it’s rarely, if ever discussed. The potential to cancel this is on the table.

Yup. Someone else on ISD mentioned fans won’t be allowed to enter the stadium if lightning is striking leading up to the game. I imagine this is near worst case scenario for ND trying to manage everything.

The issue is how long they can delay. Public safety becomes harder to police the later the game would go.

Edit: I know it’s a matter of weather but I just like day games better. Hell I like 12pm EST games the best.
