I'm an Ohio native. I love the State of Ohio. I love Ohio people. As a group, solid, honest, hard-working, real sense of fairness and fair play. I'd put Ohio up against any state in terms of the contributions of Ohioans to the good and welfare of the Union and the world.

But I can't stand Ohio State University, most particularly, the football team and anything related to it, including its fans. I have friends, lifelong friends, people who would do anything for me or my family, who, when the subject turns to Ohio State football become simply unhinged, intolerable, even loathsome.

I try to make nice. I try to keep it civil. I can get along with people from other political viewpoints, other religions, other cultures, other backgrounds, other nationalities, other sports teams' fans -- why can't I get along with Ohio State fans?

So I email my buddy last night to congratulate him on Ohio State's start to the season and the strong win over Va Tech. I praise the offense and the performance generally and speculate that they'll have a great shot at a second straight title. The response: "Yes, it sure is all true. Urban is the most brilliant coach of all time. It's going to be great to have four Ohio State guys in New York for the Heisman Trophy announcement. Too bad Notre Dame will have another also-ran season." This from a guy who, really, is as kind, humble, thoughtful and generous as they come. I know a few OSU fans who are okay, but most that I know, and I know a lot, are more or less, the same as this buddy.

I just needed to vent to some people who might understand.

I try not to associate with people whose dick and IQ measuring contents render the same number.

I'm in the same boat as an Ohio Native, but I've learned to roll with the punches. Urban won't be around forever.

Not to mention as a football fan in general I just enjoy watching the guys they have right now play. Fast athleticism, aggressiveness all over the field.

Just holding out hope we'll be at that level sooner rather than later.

Word for word my story. I miss OH every day with the exception of the attitudes of the OSU football fans(including my family!). We are friends with Jalin Marshall and his family(great people) and want him to do well, but other than that, I root every day for misery for that team.

We need to start a support group...

Sports tribalism is bad everywhere.

But yeah, attending OSU from 2010-2013 saw some highs and lows. The implosion after 2010 and through 2011 was delicious. Being rewarded for cheating by landing Urban Meyer was just about the worst possible scenario for an OSU hater like myself.

Fuck em.

I will defend pretty much anything about Boston. Except the driving. But I still think Connecticut is the worst. They actually put signs up on the highway in CT showing what each lane on the highway is for, yet there is never a shortage of asshats going 52 in the left lane.

I hate Ohio State with every ounce of my being. They are my public enemy #1....not UM, not USC, but OSU.

What sealed my fate was what they did and how they acted in 2000 when Adam Taliaferro suffered his horrific injury. In case you don't remember, OSU was up 38-6 with about a minute and half left to go in the game when Adam had his injury. They kid was carted off on the stretcher and couldn't move his body. It was clearly a gut wrenching moment for anyone watching that game. Once he was rushed off the field and to the hospital, you would think a simple kneel down was the way to go. No, not when you are OSU. That's right, you instead call a play-action pass and score a touchdown. Fuck'em.

My vote would be for New Jersey, New York, and Texas (vacationed in Missouri for two weeks. Lots of Texans there in Branson, MO).

This aren't Texans. They're just employees at the Dixie Stampede

LOL. Driving behind any vehicle with a Texas plate, all I remember thinking was, "there's a shocker. White hair done up to the roof the car OR Greg Norman style hat with huge ears sticking out the side." Never been to Texas but I envision a huge state full of blue hairs driving 25 under the speed limit and looking out their side windows rather than focusing on what is out the front window.

Dixie Stampede. I was thinking more of employees from the Mickey Gilley theater (which BTW Six was an amazing show, maybe best in Branson)

I used to post from time to time on BuckeyePlanet. I was part of a now defunct Irish board, and the site moderators invited us to come over to discuss the Fiesta game back in '05. They were pretty cool at that time, and it was a decent place to discuss college football since most the posters were okay, not too many Irish haters, and it was a busy place.

Over the years a lot of the tolerant posters disappeared though, and a handful of herp-derps took their spot. They pushed out a lot of opposing fans, and there used to be quite a few from other teams. Other than a few remaining holdouts it's become somewhat of a Buckeye circle jerk now and it's becoming less populated overall each year. I finally pulled the plug about a month ago because I couldn't post in the football section without getting low brow responses about the events at ND in 2010. Not all the fans are that way, there's still cool people there, but there's a lot more pricks than there used to be and I was always a cool customer while I was there. 10 years, never a ban or warning, always respectful. I'd rather post on the Shag, which says a lot because there's a lot of assholes over there, but they're funny assholes and they're actually more tolerant of Irish fans. Some Buckeyes have some deep hatred for the Irish, even more than Michigan, which I'll never get given that we have some of the same rivalries, we rarely play each other, and Notre Dame pulls far less talent out of Ohio that B1G schools do.

I'll still watch Buckeye games with my father-in-law, and I still know lots of cool Buckeye fans, but I don't have time to waste on a board with a handful of ass-wipes that like to recycle the same jokes for 5 years rather than discuss current teams and events.

O-H. I...Oh,I Hate Ohio State.

I live in Canton, Ohio and as much as I love living here I have dreams of how nice it would be to live in a different state without all these Suckeye fans. The amount of bandwagoning that goes on is incredible. I have friends wives talking shit to me and couldn't name one player on OSU's roster. Every hillbilly and their mother walks around covered head to toe in Scarlett and gray. I constantly have to hear their rationale on how Urban Myers is a changed man. It literally makes me sick. My hatred for them grows daily.
