Tommy had a few good plays, but more terrible ones; but the real problem was a very banged up, inexperienced defense that was married to the worst gameplan imaginable: one built on Rees's passing, which accelerated the clock to get the inexperienced, banged up defense back on the field quicker, and thus longer, than they could handle.
I blame the coaches for a poor gameplan: Rees is not as awful as it seems at this moment, but it is just wrong wrong wrong to count on him to win games with his passing. Bama does not build its offense around a much better QB, but somehow our coaches think we can live or die on Rees's arm. He is simply too erratic -- not awful, because sometimes he looks great -- but too erratic from play to play to place so much trust in him.
Four carries by Folston after last week's breakout is a scandalous failure.
Edit: none of the above changes that the officiating in that game was horrendous: from the targeting call, to the pass interference, to the missed holdings on Shembo, to the lousy mark at the end of the game. Worst officiated game I have seen in a long time. Taken with the above, the most frustrating loss since the Michigan loss a couple of years back.
