With all due respect Buster Bennett got torched on that long throw that was **** poor and got abused on the short fade. On top of that he has played very very poor multiple weeks now. Last week after I re-watched the game he was actually worse than I previously thought. He's been a huge disappointment from what I was expecting. Lastly, if I had to have one of the two starting CB's I choose KR.

ND is statistically dominating this game. The reason it is close is a big turnover and a ridiculous bad call. Need to step on throats this half.

I agree. I am ok with how the game has gone so far. I just want someone to pick up the running back when he goes out for a pass

I am not taking a shot at you but stats dont win the games its the points and points we fail to get.

My biggest issue with play calling is an issue I've seen all year.

We have a 3rd and 2/3/4 on the opponent's 30-40 yard line (just outside of field goal range).

Instead of playing 4-down territory and running it twice and almost guaranteeing a 1st down, we go 5 wide a chuck it, then have a stupid punt for 20 yards or a low percentage field goal attempt.

Does anyone else see this as a problem?

I don't think he gives 100% effort all the time. I'm not convinced the rollout overthrow by Rees was 100% Rees' fault.

I completely agree but somehow we need to get through to him right now. Purdue second half style.

Agree completely. From now on, Buster and Wizards will no longer argue about politics, but agree on Daniels.

Also we can't convert on 3rd down...And Tommy is 5 of 14 and missed on a few critical ones.

Right, points we don't have because of an insane call and a big turnover. It's 21-0 right now without targeting on Tuitt or the fumble.

Kelly saying the QB needs to make more play (yes i agree) But Tommy is doing what Tommy does every week he is who is.

I disagree, I think Tommy is playing much worse than he should be. This isn't an athletic defense outside of the box. His completion percentage is much lower than usual, so Kelly is going to calm him down and I have full confidence in Tommy doing better in the second.

Throwing the ball from the 1/2 yard line was stupid.

Yet people complained during the USC game when they didn't...

The play was harmless. Toss it up where only TJ can catch it and take a shot. Nothing bad there.

I actually thought the next call was awful. A sweep on the 1/2-yard line??? Bring Folston in there and have him jump like he did against Navy.

We get a stop on defense with 2+ min and we run the ball twice and Throw a terrible screen pass when we have to huge TE we needed 3 yards for a first 3.

What would you have done? The first run went well, the second one didn't. It is what it is.

The swing pass (I didn't see a screen), could very well have worked perfectly if, wait for it, the players didn't **** it up. Carlisle should have caught that with plenty of space.

Talent gap is quite sizable. Pitt is only in this game due to:
- An absolute travesty of a targeting call
- Tommy missing throws
- A bunch of missed tackles
- Lack of establishing a run game

I feel they will get it together and pull away. I know that hasn't exactly been our m.o. But these guys are not good. They have had to be very creative on offense just to muster what they have.

Btw..... BJax has regressed in coverage as much as G.Gray in his last year

That too. Tommy has missed some crucial wide open easy throws.

Also... 55 yard field goal attempt = lol.

Interesting. 128 yards in the first half. That's pretty established IMO

Oddly enough you wouldn't think it by watching the game.

I don't at all think they need to commit to smashing it between the tackles. The biggest advantage for Notre Dame here has been the athletic WRs against their rather unathletic defensive backs, Tommy needs to calm down and win this game.

Question.

Are the 'targeting' calls reviewed like a play on the field, whereas you assume the call was correct and need indisputable evidence to overturn?

Or when they look at the 'disqualification' calls, do they look at it and assume nothing and just determine it based on what they see?

Let me know if this doesn't make sense.

TR seems to not be able to run and throw. The other conversions were horrible and should have been made.

Ok, some of you know I referee football at the High School and Div III levels. There was a helmet-to-helmet hit on a player: Targeting and initiating contact with the crown of the helmet, or striking another player in the crown or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, elbow or shoulder. The problem I have is the ruling by the governing official(s) on the review. There was no malicious intent and there was no ‘targeting’ involved since the offensive player (QB) lowered their helmet in the process of gaining an advantage. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
Also, the rule is supposed to be enforced on the offensive player if the player leads or initiates contact with the crown of the helmet ‘OUTSIDE OF THE TACKLES’. Clearly, the review officials got this call wrong. <o:p></o:p>

With all due respect, despite Bennett's play over the course of the season, none of ND's CBs were going to breakup that TD pass.

I doubt any ND since Bobby Taylor could have stopped it but it wouldn't have been a lock either. Taylor was 6-3 and an All-American - twice.
