Robinson and Fuller got very little IIRC.

I remember now TJ beating out Kamara in BKs first year. I think Stepherson had the biggest role though, or at least most yards out of the two. Still kind of the 3/4 spot for both.

I'm assuming that most every freshman is going to have a limited sample size because they're freshman. I'd consider it a bad thing if we had seniors commonly getting supplanted by 19 year olds. I get that people want the shiny new toy but there is nothing to indicate that if Johnson was dunking on people in practice he wouldn't be playing. Lots of other Freshman skill players are getting out there.

We've all tried

lol, reps. totally walked into that one.

IDK if I agree with the notion that BK has played as much frosh skill players in his ten years as other top 10 teams. Maybe I watch too much SEC where it seems they always seem to have frosh playing early at skill O positions.

So I looked at the 4 WRs in question.
Fuller and Robinson - both less than 10 receptions frosh years
TJ beat out Kamara for the 3rd spot his frosh year which was BK's first. ~20ish recepts
Stepherson was the recipient of the starter status after Hunter's injury -~20ish recepts

Overall, seems we have less frosh participation at skill O than other teams. Also less skill O leaving early. Is it BK being conservative, is it recruiting, or a mix? IDK. I'm very happy though to see Tyree and Mayer playing this year. I'd love to see more Mayer. And Lewis on D too.

Yes, I am looking ahead.

Saw a condensed version of the Cuse game after only catching bits and pieces of it Saturday. Clemson does always have a head scratcher and only leading the Orange by six in the 3Q was a bit of a shock.

It should be noted that Syracuse had a pick six and also scored a touchdown after having a short field following a blocked punt. That was 14 of their 21 points. Cuse was however able to frustrate Clemson's offense.

Clemson's outside WRs are solid though not on the level of Higgins/Ross imo. They love the screen pass to Amari Rodgers who runs with purpose once he receives the ball. We all know about Etienne, he is in the top tier of college backs, and Lawrence can make every single throw asked of him.

They have a balanced offense, so it is impossible to sell out to stop any single phase. However I do believe ND will commit to and ultimately do a good job of slowing Etienne/Dixon down. I think that the key for ND on defense will be the play of Bracy (if he's healthy) and McCloud. We are fast as shit on defense so I think we can do an effective job of limiting the screens to Rodgers, but what ultimately concerns me the most is Lawrence getting his WRs 1 on 1 in space with our CBs. He only needs a small window to make the throws, but if McCloud/Bracy perform, I think we can seriously limit the Clemson offense. Like, to around 20ish points, unless they are gifted with some short fields.

Our offense is going to struggle big time. They will sell out to stop the run, and will have success doing so. I actually hope we give C'Bo a decent bit of burn this game. He seems to be able to pick up 3-4 yards no matter what, even if his ceiling is also 3-4 yards lol. Book's strength right now seems to be third down. Get C'Bo the ball, get Mayer the ball, get into 3rd and 5 or less, and let Book do his magic. Burn clock while doing so.

If we can win the turnover battle, we can win an ugly one. Something like 24-22 ;)

Also, seeing rumors that Tyler Davis (stud DT) may have had ankle surgery and will likely miss the ND game. They can certainly roll out some more impressive DL but he is a good one.

I don't think this is close. But I also think in the grand scheme of things, I really only care about winning the 2nd matchup and the last game if there's a 3rd.... Were just not "that team" yet. Maybe with more reps and more challenging/meaningful games on the line we can pickup momentum heading into the ACC championship and maybe then we'll be a different team. But we're not there yet through 5 weeks

I had lunch with three Clemson grads yesterday. They are legit worried about this game from the offensive side. Here are their concerns:

They feel like Etienne has made the offensive line look better than they are, They feel like Clemson has not played a decent defense yet and Etienne is so good that he can make plays even when the O-Line doesn't create space for him. They're very concerned about ND having a good enough defensive line to hold their running game down.

They, like ND, are not happy at all with their receivers. Yes, they are athletic and fast and as a result have been able to beat the defenses they have played, but these guys said they drop a lot of balls. They said they are great when they are in the open field, but they do not fight for contested throws. They said the receivers have left plenty of points on the field. They even made the comment that their Soph receiver has hooves for hands.

Lastly, they think that Clemson's short passing game is non-existent this year. With that, they think ND's safety combo can cover the deep ball pretty well and force Lawrence to make some tight throws and that interceptions are there for the taking if he has to do that.

Defensively they are a little worried about out running game. They believe their defensive line is uber talented but super young and haven't been tested yet. They have no idea how good they actually are. Comparing that to the good/veteran ND O-Line worries them.

They are not at all worried about the ND passing game - LOL

It was a pretty interesting conversation for me. Gave me a little bit of hope for the game. Of course I went all Lou Holtz on them and let them know ND doesn't even deserve to be on the same field as Clemson.

Does anyone know if there is a black market for tickets to go to this game? Willing to pay out the ass to go

Even if there was, you'd need to acquire a student or faculty ID on said black market along with the ticket. They aren't letting anyone in outside of family from both teams without them.

Yes, I actually took a peek at Clemson's 247 board after making my post and found similar opinions. They think their starting center is D2 or D3 level lol. I love Hinish's passion and he will be up for this one. I think that he can routinely blow up the line of scrimmage. They have also expressed concern about other lineman, such as former 5* Carman.

I did also see them express some pessimism about their WRs. However, a school like Clemson who has had Sammy Watkins, Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross recently, may be a little spoiled lol. Lawrence is good enough to make every single throw, and their downfield passing game is still my biggest concern.

They believe that their offense is one dimensional, which is hilarious considering that they probably have the best QB and RB in the country. But OL struggles can do that to an offense.

Also, their defensive line is chock full of 5*s, but they do believe Tyler Davis is very important and they "need" him for ND. Sounds like he will miss their game this weekend. Reports of a surgery may have been incorrect, but sounds like his status is questionable for the ND game. If anything, he will be less than 100%. Of course, them missing Dexter Lawrence didn't exactly help us out too much in 2018!

For those who think that the complaining will go away if we win a Natty and fully entrench ourselves in the elite of CFB, I have some bad news for you :)

I heard that students were getting 4-500 for their UGA ticket + ID a few years ago. I'm young enough to pass for a student at a glance. I just need to figure out how to find the hookup.

Potentially the biggest home game since 1993 FSU

Yes. Thinking back to that week it was very similar in that the media had FSU as their darling. We need to go into this game with the same energy.

we had problems when I was in school with that so the school switched to tablets where they'd scan your ID and get a big picture of your face to compare to. I think you got a ban for the season if you got caught letting someone use your ID lol.

Anytime I had friends coming from out of town for a game I'd just buy them a standing room ticket.

All this sounds great but we aren't going to be able to move the ball consistently vs that defense.

I think we do OK - Not great but OK. They are very young on defense and haven't ever faced an O-Line like ND has. Add to that Skalski is the "coach on the field" type player and ND may get a little bit of O going. The question is this - does 24 to 27 points get ND the victory?

I don't think it does unfortunately. Early prediction, I think it'll be a 34-21 game. I expect it to be very close at half, but you can tell which team is better already via the eye test.

Yeah, I don't think it is enough points either. However, I do think it is a better/closer game than most are predicting.

It is very helpful to our run game that their best run stopping DT is either out or just coming back for this game and their best run stopping LB is definitely out. Time to see what Brent Venables son is capable of...

IDK, I think to win, or stay close, we're going to need TOs to go our way. We'll need at least 2-3. And if that did happen, not sure we need over 24.

Our best chance is a physical game, with Book just hitting a couple intermediate to long shots, and Lawrence having his worst game of the year throwing a couple picks to Hamilton.... lol.

And... we need it to be colder than current forecast (low 40). Some freezing rain would be great.

Said it before will say it again. Repeat of the last regular season match up. 24-22 to the home team. Clemson failed 2 pt conversion in the final seconds.

Speaking it into existence lol

We'd all be ecstatic. Honestly, I wouldn't care how bad we'd lose in the ACC Champ. That win would be savored for a long time. Plus we'd be undefeated in ACC regular season play for the foreseeable future. //remember that one pandemic year ND joined the ACC and won every game?\\

I don't want rain but it would definitely be nice if it was bitter cold. I agree with you that we need the game to be defined by physicality. Our OL needs to be the best group, on either side. If we can do that, we have a puncher's chance.

No doubt they are the better team, but all it takes is one game. Our secondary is better than when we faced them in the playoffs. I expect this to be a tight game until the end. Would not surprise me if our lads come out on top, but we won't get rolled.

Why no freezing rain Grey? lol. Yea, if our OL can hold their DL (I'm not sure they can), that would be huge for us. I like our DL vs their OL to be honest more than our OL vs their DL.

I'll take freezing cold though if I can't get freezing rain. I think rain would nullify their speed, and Lawrence to an extent.
