The injuries catch up to us in these tight games. Lot of youth on the field, and young players can make mistakes more often than veterans. Can't fault anything Josh Adams did tonight though, he stepped up in a big way with CJ being out. Kizer did pretty well, all things considered. Our red zone offense really needs some work, it held us back again tonight. Maybe that's where Zaire would have worked out better if he remained healthy, I dunno. Kizer certainly made plays with his feet again regardless, and he did come up with a big run for a TD at the end there, just too much damn time on the clock. Defense did a great job bottling up McCaffery, but gave up too many big plays to Hogan in crucial downs...the facemask really hurt at the end there.
Very impressive that two freshmen, Kizer and Adams, combined for almost 300 yards on the ground. Couldn't believe that when I saw that stat. Outgained Stanford by over 100 yards, 533 total yards (Not counting the Special Teams, including Sanders kick return). The turnover could have been some valuable points, and failing to pick up one red zone TD until the end were areas that kept us from winning this one.
