I could listen to Herbstreit and Fowler say nice things about ND all day.

Fowler was so giddy in the first half thinking UNC was going to take ND down. The old "eye test" was working hard. They had no choice in the second half but to heap praise on us, perfect.

That last offensive drive was so fun to watch. The O decided to put the game away and there was nothing NC could do about it. Just some grown ass men going to work. You could literally see the NC players were tired of getting blasted. On one of Kyren's runs to the right side for 10+ yards, you could see Skowronek just blast the guy he was blocking, and the NC player just kind of accepted it. Love watching us just crush will like that.

Side note: #2 for NC needs to collect from rent money from McCloud. Dude lived inside his head the whole second half.

I love seeing the other fan bases throughout the country but especially SEC talk about past years like all the players on the 2013 team are still on this team lol I can’t stand it. This defense is elite. Saban said there’s no more defense in college football anymore. Wait till he sees our defense and then he’ll be rethinking that comment

Bama will exploit our DBs. Not saying we can't play with them, but they are well rounded. I'm just hoping Lawrence doesn't T-bag our CBs in the ACC-C.

I’m not saying we would win soundly but do I think we can play with them yes 100%. Id say our CBs did pretty good against some elite wideouts today. They aren’t bama wideouts but they will probably play on sundays

I'm not really sure where this "our CBs aren't very good" narrative, but I don't think that's true.

Not sure anyone has said they “aren’t very good” but they are the biggest weakness on a very good defense. Does that equate to “not very good”, I don’t think so. I also don’t think that position group is elite and have the potential to be exploited by highly rated receivers paired with an elite quarterback.

I think I said it after the Louisville game but I was worried that if Book didn’t get his act together we’d be wasting a potential year with the deepest team I’ve seen in my lifetime. That depth showed today and Book has been lights out the past three games. I’m full on the Kool-Aid. Let’s go win it all!

I agree with this. But to the bolded statement, this will happen tp every team in the playoff this year. What is crazy is that Notre Dame might have a better defense than Clemson, Alabama, and Ohio State.

I think Bracy has been picked on quite a bit by opposing offenses because he is the biggest weakness. I don’t think he is “bad” at all, but offenses have to pick on someone and aren’t going to make it the best players on the opposing team.

I would agree the Irish have a very good defense this year and could be the best of the year.

I think Bracy is in his own head. That’s why he got pulled in the Clemson game IMO. He’s a talented CB that just needs confidence & a short memory. Go watch CBS in the NFL. They can get smoked one play and then shut down the rest of the game. A short memory is ESSENTIAL.

Bracy had pretty good coverage on that first TD pass. Wasn’t perfect b/c if he turns around, he likely makes the pick, but I’ve seen much worse from CBs

Yeah, elite QB throwing to elite receivers. I'm not sure how to define this specifically but there may be 5-6 teams in all of college football that fit this description. And we just shut down one of them. If the definition is more narrow then we are talking about Bama and maybe Ohio St and that's it.

I’ll say it again. Bracy is not bad by any means, but if you don’t think he’s the biggest weakness on a great defense after the last three games then we aren’t watching the same team.

I don't disagree. At the same time the game plan built in film room probably highlights certain guys to "pick on". If the QB and OC have it in their minds who they are going to target then it becomes sort of a self fulfilling prophecy because more volume is thrown towards that player. Like it's predetermined, "if x reciever is being covered by Bracey 1:1 Im throwing the ball there.". And further, I bet they scheme in order to get the right matchup on those weak links too. However, all this can be tossed out the window if the defensive line isn't giving the QB time to find his guys and genius Clark Lea makes adjustments at halftime.

IDK man. Yes their O is good, but they've played a bunch of chumps. BC and FSU both held them to under 30. FSU beat them. We put up 45 on BC vs UNC's 26 on BC. Would you call our offense elite?

We did hold them to their lowest point total of the year, which is awesome, but they put up a ton of big numbers vs some bad teams.

I'm talking about their O vs our D. I agree they hadn't played anyone particularly good on defense. But everyone on every sports outlet was talking about their "NFL talent" all over the offensive skill positions and outside of the first two drives our defense shut them down. And it wasn't really thanks to our offense controlling the game. I'm not saying we could shut down Alabama or Clemson or Ohio St in the same fashion but our defense gives us a chance to win any of those games. And I don't think our secondary would be a huge liability vs those teams. Guys like Devonta Smith and Chris Olave are matchup problems for any secondary. Those are guys you have to have a plan for.

And to make today just a little bit sweeter, unranked ND hockey beat #3 Michigan 3-2 for their first win of the season!

Just saying not many would call our O elite. If we look at common opponents, we put up a ton more vs BC than UNC did. I just think they're propped up by running up #s vs bad teams.

Always nice to get the other teams perspectives.

I felt less confident for about 3 quarters than the NC guys seemed to think...but we did what we needed.

My takeaway is Notre Dame is amazing on defense. We lost a first round player and didn't skip a beat. Brian Kelly has really brought ND back to where they belong.

I'm beyond proud of this team for being able to do what other ND teams have rarely done...win trap games and win games that start poorly.

Clark Lea is a God and the university needs to reward him. Brian Kelly deserves apologies from everyone who wanted him fired.

When Notre Dame hired Kelly, I thought we were joining the 21st century in running spread Kelly ball. Its crazy how his defenses have actually been more consistent, and his good teams have been vintage ND smash mouth on offense.

We can beat anybody.

To be fair, hockey is one of those sports where thats a cute feather in the cap but nothing special. Glad they won. Michigan has more nattys somehow than any other program. North Dakota (fuck those guys..Canuck clowns) are #2 i think in nattys.

Mac Brown on Ian
"And let me say at the same time, Ian Book was as good tonight as anybody I've ever seen,” Brown said. “We couldn't tackle him. I mean, we harassed him. We had people around him, there could have been six sacks. We could not get him on the ground. And then he made some unbelievable plays on third down. I don't know if he's in the Heisman race or not, but he should be. His record is 29-3, he's fast, he's quick, he's accurate, he's smart. He's not going to do things to get his team beat. But I was so impressed with him tonight. I was impressed with him as much as any quarterback I've seen."

Honestly for as bad as they’ve been, you got to give the UNC defense credit for their performance today considering it was the first time all year they saw a Book.
