Anyone want to give be an evaluation of his play this year. Feel like I rarely hear his name even though he has started every game. Cant remember him making any major mistakes but can't remember any huge plays he's made either.

he actually has been playing quite well...he is doing a lot of stuff that isn't a stat but rerouting wr's and his coverage as well has been pretty good...he isn't missing many tackles but then again jaylon seems to be scooping them up...very solid play thus far..hasn't been a liability at all...

I've said it since last year - he's the only player besides an OL that I don't know is playing well or not, lol. I guess being unnoticed is a good thing, it's just weird that his performance isn't apparent. I could go down the line and give you a strong opinion on every starter outside of maybe Martin/Elmer/Nelson/Onowuala.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease I think. Onwualu hasn't appeared to be causing any problems for our defense, he's a quiet contributor. He's tied for 7th on the team for tackles, 12 tackles back from Schmidt. I'm surprised KVR is #2, you can tell teams are picking on him much more than they did in 2013.

Well, they were able to pick on Bennett Jackson that year. I'm fine with teams throwing at Russell if he continues to make plays.

And even more so than 2014... I'll see myself out.

I think it may be the position, strong-side, outside linebacker. He has responsibilities on every play. Read conscious and setting the point of attack. Sometimes providing coverage. He doesn't get the glory, or the high visibility plays, or all the gaudy statistics, but if he isn't assignment correct, it is apparent.

he got blown up a few times in 1st half of the navy game and sat for the 2nd half as he was replaced by Grace/Martini. That's all i remember him doing this year tbh

No surgery, 2nd degree MCL sprain, out for BC game. Per Kelly's Sunday teleconference.

Which is about the best we could have hoped for. Martini probably would have started, or played more for BC anyway.

Against BC you need the beef.

This will give Onwualu a chance at healing and being fresh for Stanford and McCaffrey.

Anyone that doesn't thing James Onwualu wouldn't make it in the top fifty OLB's in the nation based upon his performance is kidding themselves. Check all the pro scouting info. They love him.

Not bad for a WR that couldn't get playing time

Could you provide some links to the scouting reports? I'd like to see an outsider's perspective on his play this season. Seems to me that he's had one or two great games, and then I won't notice him for another four.

"James Onwualu got in the weight room this summer. Will attempt to deliver photo evidence later."

i like this. A jacked up James would be nice. He was undersized so....

I showed my rental today to a kid who was a freshman at Cretin when James was a senior. His brother was in James' class and a good friend.

James has been devoted, consistent and an ambassador for the team. I hope he really did add the necessary weight to break foo's off this fall. It'd be great to see him make big strides this summer/fall.
