Maybe I'm missing something, but if Kelly needed to get at least 1 first down with three timeouts and 1 minute left, go for points. But even if you're right, I still have a problem with it because it shows a lack of aggression, which is the opposite of what we need.

The logic is, hey lets just keep the clock running and get to half time. USC still has two timeouts though so it's possible they might want to stop the clock and try to get another possession. Lets run instead of taking a knee so if they do stop it and we have to try and get a 1st down we're left with 2nd and 6-8 instead of 2nd and 12 after a knee.

Yeah but Auburn is a better team than USC. Alabama also has a 11 year history of dominance so they're not as scrutinized by a 1 half result. ND does not have that history and the last time we took the biggest stage we shit all over ourselves.

I’m pretty much a BK “hater”, but I have no problem with how that drive unfolded. It sucked, but he was making the right decisions. Can’t believe I’m defending him, but, listen, The southern cal guys are on scholarship too. They played a hell of a first half. They should be up three scores, but they aren’t. How many times have we been on the other side of that. We’re going to win the second half.

This year, nobody really appears to be able to compete with Alabama. People have had trouble competing in the past and that was when they were a one dimensional offense. Who knows though, always nice to get a gauge for where you are at as a team.

Agreed. I actually think we’d hang with Clemson but Bama doesn’t even look natural.. I can’t get over the size of every player... they’re all fukcing huge. Safeties are LBs - LBs are DEs and DLs are just insane.

It bothers me that they’ve monopolized recruiting but the salty side of me still wonders why every position player is the biggest in the country.. one S & C coach can’t have the greatest legal secret to gains. I’m done whining.

That’s true & good perspective but if Lea & the D can’t adjust, I’m not confident ND can continue to cause turnovers on every other SC drive. This game will either be a shootout or a blowout loss unless we see some adjustments. Pendergrast has won the first half chess match vs Long.

The uncomfortable answer I don't think we will with BK. I like BK and after this year obviously don't want him fired but we're not so overwhemingly talented that we can sleep walk at times and still be in the lead against P5 teams. We have to come out switched on every single game. We'll never be able to load rosters the way BAMA does for a number of reasons.

Look, it's sports so anything can happen. A crappy 5-6 team with no defense and a bad HC can be leading the #3 team in the country at half. We are good enough to upset any team in the country if we play on fire, but we'll never replicate what Alabama or even Clemson has done in recent memory.
