They're like Stanford 2.0.

That implies that they are a better version of Standford. Perhaps you mean Stanford Lite? Because if you mean the former*, I would make an appointment with a neurologist stat!

I didn't mean better than Stanford. But I wouldn't be surprised if they are. They're so balanced, so strong. The run well, pass well, and their defense is vicious. This game is going to be a nightmare, because if we lose, all of the casual fans will make it sound like a loss to BYU is laughable, when in reality this team is really good.

If you take the names off of the jersey, IMO BYU is right there. I don't see us being able to run on them, and it's always a toss up when we ask Tommy to win the game. Hope I'm wrong.

The one good thing we have against them is the athletes on offense. I doubt they will be able to cover TJ DD one on one. But will our defense be able to keep their QB in check. Also Boise has hurt theirselves a bit.

BS really moved the ball well. 3 Dropped balls.
Stopped BYU for 3 punts and fg second so far.
Really looks like BS took themselves out of this game. Looks like you can run on them.

BYU's OL looked solid on run blocking but their pass blocking was suspect. The Irish DL should have a field day rushing the QB.

Right beside you bro. Section 1 row 23.

Watching BYU the thing that worries me the most is the scramble of the QB.

This is kind of common sense but it is interesting to think about. This will be the last chance to host any big time players for a game day atmosphere prior to NSD. Obviously Holley is at the top of the list but I imagine there's a few others we'd like to get up here as well. Carter, Adoree, etc.

If BYU beats Wisconsin then more than likely they will come into this game 8-2 and a top 25 team.

That should create a good atmosphere for any potential visitors, it will be even better if ND comes out victorious.

That thread is hilarious. Especially the part about shredding a Boise State defense that is "better" than ND. I definitely think BYU can win and we'll learn more after the Wisconsin game. But we'll have a bye to hopefully get a bit healthier and refreshed, and we'll come into that game prepared.

What's lost in all of that mumbo jumbo is that out of the bye week our offense with Rees distributing the ball has been prolific. The scheme is MUCH better and less predictable. USC has a better defense than BYU, and Rees swiss cheesed them on 3 of 6 drives.

BYU fans are awfully confident for a team whose best win was over bad-Texas before the shakeup, lost to UVA and Utah, and hasn't played a single top 25 team all year. Again, we'll learn more when they play Wisconsin. Their offense is good with a talented mobile QB but it definitely isn't any better than ASU. Their D sucks compared to last year. I think defensive health will be of paramount importance.

I read that whole thread thingy. I can see them saying almost everything they said. It all makes sense to me. After all ND didn't really beat ASU and SC. And Navy almost beat ND.

And how many people here have said how bad Rees is? Or torn down aspects of ND's game?

Football makes people stupid. Often.

Only problem is BYU isn't Navy, and Boise State isn't SC.

Everybody catch DST?

I chuckled...

eh...pretty low key for an opposing fan base...I think if you do the same thing with skunbear, Condom, Sparty, Sooner fan boards...its likely a lil' bit worse than this...

Since early in the season BYU QB Taysom Hill has corrected some accuracy and touch issues...not great but better. He gashes folks for scramble yards as well. Their run game is good. Their D can be a handful, especially if the QB isn't mobile. I think they give up too much on the perimeter though, and ND will get theirs hash marks and out, and over the top in the passing game, and we should be able to run on them.

BYU fans are a little optimistic...unless BYU wakes up tomorrow running a well oiled option machine...they have some things to worry about from ND's Defense....and the ND O is a different O than it was early in the year...I think. Anyway, BYU falls into that group of teams for me of "Any Team on any given Saturday"....They can catch you flat...and beat you.

Things that worry me:
If ND comes out like early in the season on O, failing to execute and turning it over, or just chronically existing on our side of the field...and has the typical slow start on D...

A clean down hill shot or two on Tommy, and he gets hurt (and Mendenhall almost always does it to immobile QBs)

...point is, this isn't a gimme...ND needs to play a clean game, and live up to Kelly's expectations...chief of which is start fast I think.

BYU offense is Hill, the guy can make a few throws, but we need to stop the run. That's it we stop the run, and make them pass we win all day..

Our O-line is beast, and our running game will not be stopped. So stop them from touchdowns, and we win.

if we can nullify Van Noy also on the other side i think ND has enough to make BYU look very ordinary

Defensive line isn't getting a lot of pressure and the offensive line isn't giving Hill that much time to throw. This is a game we should ideally dominate but probably will take it down to the wire with them.
