- 21 Clemson 6-2

I watched the game and IF Louisville wasn't playing off the emotions of a big game at home on nat'l TV the 1st half, they would have got "smoked". Their vaulted defense was totally exposed in 2nd half ... gave up 42 pts. n 574 total yds. And that's the #1 defense in the country?!? On offense, take away their BIG plays n they were average at best. Only 1-11 on 3rd down opportunites. If ND can control Parker and contain Dyer and NOT turn the ball over, the Irish will kick their a$$.

I agree about the emotions of a big game on national TV, but they will be a handful. They are not as talented as ND, but playing ND at ND will get them jacked up. Their play calling on their last series cost them a chance to win the game. The third and fourth down calls were terrible IMO.

Yet they hung with the #2 team in the country. I guarantee you that there aren't 23 other teams that can do that.

Yes but this is the poll system, not the NFL playoff system. They have 3 losses, so they will be one of 3-4 teams outside of the top 25 that are borderline on votes.

By the end of the season, if they win out (except ND) they could be a 4-loss team in the top 25, but that is not a given.

Our best chance to have a solidly top-25 ranked team on our schedule at the end of the season is A-state. Stanford? Maybe if they win out against all of those currently ranked teams, which is realistically asking too much.

Too bad it wasn't an SEC team.

It is interesting though. Shouldn't the number 25 team lose to the number 2 team? Why should they drop out for that? But I am certain they will fall out of the top twenty five.

Yeah, this is the problem I have with the committee doing periodic rankings. They will fall into the trap of the AP/Coaches polls and feel the need to punish teams for losses and reward them for wins regardless of their performance vs. expectations.

The wife and I are driving up for this game. No tickets, no parking pass, just winging it. I know I can probably grab a pair of tix after kickoff for cheap but if I end up not getting any, where do you guys recommend going to watch the game besides Legends?

CBSSports Defensive Player of the Week, Gerod Holliman, Safety UL

Holliman recorded three interceptions in Louisville's win at Boston College, giving the standout sophomore six picks in the last three games. Not only does Holliman lead the nation with 13 interceptions on the season, suddenly the FBS single-season record (14) -- set by Washington's Al Worley in 1968 -- is in reach. Louisville wrapped up its inaugural ACC season with a 5-3 conference record after beating the Eagles and will face Notre Dame and Kentucky to close out the regular season.

Only watched the second half but wasn't super impressed with Louisville. They gave FSU a game, but if Winston doesn't spot them three picks...
Right now they're in that "dangerous but we certainly should win" category for us, I think.

Did they give F$U a game or did JW fix things?

Louisville impressed in the half you didn't watch. A lot of us seemed to be pulling for Louisville. Then you started watching the game and it all when to shit. We won't make the playoffs because Louisville won't be highly ranked when we play them because they lost to FSU because you watched the second half. Thanks for screwing the team bro

Did they or were they allowed to?

HAHA. UL absolutely crushed FSU in the first half of that game and because of some dumb luck to end the half (and begin the second), FSU got back in it. UL was up 21-0 before a fumble was recovered by FSU in their endzone for a TD to end the half 21-7. The first play of the second half, Winston threw yet another pick only to have the safety fumble it back to FSU on the same play. It was pretty much all FSU from there. Gotta give them credit. But yea, Louisville straight "Winston'ed (allegedly)" those fools for the half you didn't watch.

Hmmm...

Unless the fix was in

Was it emotion? The NCAA may have a different opinion.

UL QB Rushing

UL QB Rushing

Gardner was 22 attempts for -106 yards, 0 TDs.

Bonnafon has 51 attempts for 138 yards, 3 TDs.

Bonnafon hasn't been a significant rusher so far but the difference between him and Gardner is about +7 yards/carry.

Sagarin's new Predictor Model makes ND -3.5 against UL in S.B.

Sagarin's models doesn't consider injuries, holders, etc..

Notre Dame's Everett Golson suffers sprained shoulder joint - ESPN

Matt Fortuna

Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson suffered a sprained AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder during Saturday's 43-40 loss to Northwestern, coach Brian Kelly said Sunday.

Golson, a redshirt junior, played the entire game and completed 21 of 40 passes for 287 yards with three touchdowns and one interception, fumbling once as well. Kelly said that Golson told him that he could throw Sunday if he needed to, and he was not sure if the shoulder sprain affected him in Saturday's overtime defeat.

"I don't know," Kelly said during his weekly teleconference. "I haven't gotten a chance to talk to him about it. There were certainly a couple of throws when he first did it where he put the ball into the ground. You could see that it affected him then. He said he was fine after that but obviously we missed some throws, especially in overtime. But he said it didn't affect him."

Kelly also said that defensive linemen Sheldon Day and Daniel Cage suffered knee sprains Saturday and that both are awaiting MRI results to determine the severity of the injuries.

AC Joint Sprain - Shoulder Separation - AC Injury - PhysioAdvisor

What is an AC joint sprain?
An AC joint sprain is a relatively common sporting injury affecting the shoulder and is characterized by tearing of the connective tissue and ligaments of the Acromio-Clavicular joint.

...

An AC joint sprain can range from a small sprain resulting in minimal pain and allowing ongoing activity, to a severe sprain resulting in significant pain, deformity and disability.

...

Causes of an AC joint sprain
An AC joint sprain typically occurs due to a specific incident such as a direct blow to the point of the shoulder. This commonly occurs in contact sports due to a collision with another player or following a fall onto the point of the shoulder.

...

Prognosis of an AC joint sprain
With appropriate management, most patients with a minor to moderate AC joint sprain can return to sport or normal activity within 2 – 8 weeks. Patients with severe AC joint injuries will usually require a longer period of rehabilitation to gain optimum function.

Opened ND -9.

Dropped to -5.5

Considering the injuries and the sloppy play across the board, I expected to see UL favored.

Their starting QB is out but their backup has considerable PT this season and is more of a dual threat.

Golson is listed as Probable.

One thing that helps the Cards is the bye week. It helps their QB get a lot of practice. I am hoping something clicks and he have a good all around game.

If our defense plays how it did against NW (and I don't know why it would be anything better) Louisville will score 50 and USC will score 70. Got to pray safeties get it figured out, linebackers get it figured out, and some young DL figure out how to rush the passer.

Yes agree. Maybe hill can get some time he seemed like he was getting pressure early in the season.

Just about everybody on ND's defense looked good early in the season.

About a week ago Kelly was asked why Hill was not playing and I thought the response was because he was NOT providing any pressure.

It was brief perhaps a single sentence.

Yeah, he was asked specifically about Hill and he said that the reason he wasn't playing was that other people were doing a better job of getting pressure in practice.
